Father

Posted on 19. Dec, 2006 by loswhit in Family

Picture 1-20I am blessed. I have a father who believes in me, prays for me, loves me, challenges me, encourages me, and iChats with me. Tonight I needed my dad more than I have in a while. He has spent more than 40 years in full time ministry and he pours it out into me. I needed my well filled tonight and he delivered. I know lots of people. And not one of them has a father even close to the man mine is. Sometimes when my 33 year old ministerial minds get full of knowledge and crap it takes a 30 minute conversation with one twice as wise to show me I have much left to learn. So when your world does not seem to make sense, call my dad.
Thanks dad.

So, it wasn’t until the second time I saw your dad in chapel at calbap that I realized….”whittaker….that’s not a super common name. Hey, my worship pastor has that last name too…oh, and they kinda look alike…hmmm…”

…about-to-be college graduate right here. genius.

Dads rule. I hope to someday be at least half the man my dad is.

What’s his number? I could use a dad like that.

P.S. Does he know you just volunteered him for a new ministry?

If I could describe your dad in one word it would be: wisdom. Everytime I talk to him, I can feel the experience of ministry in his voice, which governs who he is and what he does. So what happenned to you?

I’m glad you have that relationship with your dad. Thats so great. Just the fact that he’s a mac man alone tells me that he’s wise.

It’s good to have someone like that and it’s fun to hear about people who do. For the past 3 years that’s what my father-in-law has been for me. Not many guys can boast of great in-laws…and believe me, there are times…but he’s been in full-time ministry for most of his life and I know that I can go to him anytime I need some serious direction and help processing life. Now has been one of those times.

Thanks for sharing. It’s cool to see how much you appreciate him.

Your Dad is amazing. When I first met him, I thought..”Wow, I’ve never met a guy like my Dad, but here he is.” Although, I don’t think my Dad will be on iChat anytime soon. I just got off the phone him…he was in between treating patients in the clinic and just spoke the perfect handful of words to encourage my heart. I hope we’re like that one day.
