What happened to the “UnAngle Campaign” that you started on Dec. 27th.?

“But I say lets be done with Angles!!! Let the world see that profile and double chin for all it’s glory. So I am starting the UnAngle Campaign. Show the world your worst angle. Then when we all finally meet each other, one of the 2 parties won’t have to hide their gasp then walk away whisperring…”No Way!!! Did you see their blog pic? WOW”.
Find that pic. Post it on your blog. Be free from Angles. The Truth Will Set You Free.”
I would have freaked out, TOO! In fact, we had our own freak-out-session. Due to MORE snow and ice, our choir director, still recovering from the effects of chemo, couldn’t make it again. And we had cancelled practice on Thursday because of snow and ice. So we had nothing. We just ended up singing the introit and benediction. However, the pianist did an amazingly beautiful song during offertory, when we usually sing. And the praise team was still able to function, so that’s cool.
It’s nice to know that others have such things running through their minds during worship. It’s frickn’ hilarious what can I can be thinking about during a song, let alone 15 seconds before we get started. This is definately a job/ministry that keeps you on your toes.
Our Set: acoustic…with candles…tons!
1. From God Above-United
2. Adonai-United
3. Open Mye Eyes-United
4. Pure-Kari Jobe
5. How Marvelous-Hymn
1. All About You (United)
2. The Freedom We Know (United)
3. Beautiful One (Jeremy Camp version)
4. Lord of the Heavens (Parachute Band)
5. From the Inside Out (United)
6. Glory in the Highest (Tomlin)
Took some baby steps this week and used a loop for the first time in our service… fun fun fun.
Carlos, you are too smooth, brother. Way to earn the big bucks.
My Sunday drummer drama was far less intense. I had one drummer working, one drummer puking, so I had to drag a sleepy. non-phone-answering drummer out of retirement. (Could you sing that to “The Twelve Days of Christmas”? Hmm.)
I’m off to shop the Guitar Center Presidents’ Day sale. Love to the people.
I love when stuff like that happens(sans the baby scare). My former church met in a school awhile back and relied on the custodians to open the building at 5 am for set up every Sunday. No custodian one week–locked out. All the gear was inside except for instruments and one extension cord. Had church outside the entrance to the school. Kids church set out blankets and did their thing on the sides of the building, we tried to get a phone chain going for people to bring lawn chairs and blankets. Did it unplugged(one acoustic guitar)except for the bass–used the extension cord. All teaching and elder staff out of town on a retreat. My friend Tom Cox (see http://catalystfaith.wordpress.com) got sunburned giving the message. Did U2s Rattle & Hum version I Still Haven’t Found…, Amy Grant’s Somewhere Down The Road and I can’t remember the other two(long time ago). Had WE planned it, it would have sucked. It was the best service I think we ever did.
I am impressed your drummer felt the freedom to take care of his family even 15 secs before playing. THAT’S a testimony, trust me.
By the way, guitar hero–very Wayne’s World. Party time. Excellent.
(sorry for the long post. oops, made it longer. grr, did it again.)
Something similar like that happened to me, only the drummer’s bass pedal got loose. I heard the count behind me to start the song, then all of a sudden there was no bass drum.. when there should’ve been. I turned around while I was playing and saw him bent over working on it, so we started the song acoustically to give him a chance to get the screw re-tightened. By the time he got it tighened we were about half way through the song, so he started dinking around on the cymbals just in time to start a build into the bridge. It worked beautifully. What look to be potential disaster, we turned into a sweet remix. So, props to you bro.. way to go.
Our set was:
Our Love is Loud
Tell The World
From the Inside Out
How Great is Our God
Tell The World/All We Need
Oh man that’s quick thinking there man! My guitar player was on the ball this week. We did:
Famous One
Your Grace is Enough
From the Inside Out (Yes it shall be overplayed)
All Creatures 2
From the Inside Out
and from here I was to move my capo to the 3rd fret to play Creed by Third Day. Instead, I move my capo to the 2nd fret. In the “30 seconds” prior to playing I get this tap on my shoulder and my bass player is pointing to my guitarist and he’s holding up 3 fingers making an X and holding up 2 fingers. I look down and see my mistake and quickly fix the problem before our drummer counts us in! WHEW! That’d have been awful!
Then we wrapped up after the sermon with a “special song”:
Salvation Is Here (Joel and the Kidz)
Fuel (I don’t know who does this)
Miracle Maker (Delirious?) / Strip Me Away (original)
Now Is Time Time (D?)
Land Of Confusion (Genesis v. Disturbed)
led worship at our women’s retreat this weekend:
friday night:
* How Great Is Our God How Great Thou Art
* Worthy, You are Worthy (Redman)
* He Knows My Name (Walker)
close: Jesus Lover of My Soul – (united: best friend)

* Holy Is The Lord (Tomlin)
* Lord Reign In Me (Brenton Brown)
* Hosanna – Praise is Rising (Brenton Brown/Paul Baloche)
* Refiner’s Fire (Doerksen)
saturday night:
* Blessed Be Your Name (Redman)
* Well With My Soul (Brenton Brown) It Is Well (hymn)
* Beautiful One (Hughes)
* Worthy, You are Worthy (Redman)
* Awesome God (United version)
closer: Blessed Be Your Name
sunday am:
* Hosanna
* Worthy, You Are Worthy
* Holy Is The Lord
* I See The Lord (Chris Falson)
* Jesus’ Blood (Delirious? chorus and bridge only as done by United)
Communion: All for Love (United)
I had to be very careful to do stuff the older ladies would appreciate, so I prayerfully chose these songs and only had a couple new songs in there. If it was a different crowd I would’ve done more newer songs. I led from the keyboard for the first time, something I didn’t want to do, but it was good, and God definitely blessed our little team. My sister played her electric, cousin sang, and another friend played her djembe and shaker.

(i’m trying to figure out how to incorporate guitar hero in the worship service)
it’s probably the best invention ever…
