Stevie on Sesame Street.

There have many great performances in my lifetime. By many great artists. U2 in Belfast. Queen at Wembely Stadium. Michael anywhere in the 80′s. Garth at Central Park. But this one might just have risen above the rest.
Yes. I know it’s a HUGE statement. But trust me. Stevie Wonder’s Superstition on Sesame Street might arguably be his greatest performance EVER.
From the Gibson Guitar.
To the Orange amps
The shirt on the guy playing the Gibson.
Stevie’s Glasses.
Stevie’s Mic.
Sax Players Shirt.
Mexican child playing maracas in the background.
Bass player’s run with 3:35 remaining.
Little girl getting her WORSHIP ON with 2:35 remaining.
Stevie’s not done with 1:10 left.
“SEEEESAME STREEEET”

All I have to say after allowing you to watch that is…
You’re Welcome.

    Coolest song ever?

    Maybe. Just maybe.

No question, that was Stevie in his prime. I can only imagine the expression on Jim Henson’s face during that performance.

I remember seeing that one and saying, “Hey, I wanna play those drum thingies”.

This guy is just plugged into something that I don’t have access to.

Everytime I hear/see him play w/ his band, I’m reminded that I have very, very little understanding of groove.

    Solid.

Is it me, or does the sax player look like Andy Samberg from Saturday Night Live in his new movie Hot Rod.

My favorite: Stevie’s gold chain medallion.

Question: Why are brass players always a bunch of white guys?

I don’t see how anyone could sit still while listening to Stevie.

Damn that was hot. Do you think his last name is really ‘Wonder’? If it’s not, I think it should be.

It’s nice to hear a 70s brass section play tight and in tune.

Why are we always white? Because we can’t groove on polyphonic instruments.
