Hartsfield, Chicken, and a Man Called Wickham

Posted on 23. Sep, 2007 by loswhit in Music, Travel

I am sitting here in Hartsfield International Airport for my last ride back to Cali. This time to bring home the fam.
Go ahead. HURRAY!!!
OK.
My stomach is stuffed with the goodness of Chick-Fil-A. I am actually a bit nauseous. Wondering why I threw that sandwich down when I am about to wedge myself between 300 strangers for the next 4 hours of my life.
Feeling fat and tired, I walked by a scruffy looking gent with a Mac and a Taylor guitar.
He was wearing Diesels, a v-neck, and cowboy boots.
If he wasn’t a friend of mine, he was about to be.
When I got a little closer I recognized him.
And I realized that I was actually going to be able to drop the name Brody Harper and it actually work. ;)
This guy gets to go on tour with Brody and Crowder this fall.
Phil was cool. We talked iPhones, tours, Moi, Daley (of’course), Brody, So Cal, and music for all of 5 minutes before I had to run and catch my flight.
I was listening to Leeland on my iPhone before my little meeting.
Now I’m listening to my very own pre release copy of Cannons!!!
Just kidding.

Thanks for not being a pompous rock star Phil.
Now you shall sing me to sleep and I shall pimp your album when I get it like The Gap pimps the color RED.
Great guy. Seriously. Now go buy his music.
Here I come familia!!!

The obvious question is…how the heck did you get Chick-Fil-A on a Sunday.

Man, you must have the red phone to God.

    Amazing.

When he played at Calbapt. last year before Shane-N-Shane, he came and sat with his g/f and parents right behind me for Shane. When I talked to him, he was so sweet and one of the most humble rockstars I’ve ever met.

And the hairiest. Props for working the v-neck with all that hair. :-)

first of all i’m not a churchgoer. i’m a lapsed catholic (yes there are loads of us). i read your blog despite the fact that i don’t share your religion because i enjoy reading about you, your family and your adventures. you’re a great writer.

occasionally i read comments to your posts that are less than kind and my first reaction is to think “wow, that’s very christian of them” (sarcasm). then i step back and remember that another reason i enjoy your blog is because, while you endeavor to lead a christian life, you do indeed keep it real. and real is people talking smack and making digs. i’m learning. :)

nice….Wickham is straight up, quite possibly, the sweetest vox in Christian music to me. He reminds me so much of Jeff Buckley, which is pretty sweet indeed…

Just bought DCB “The Remedy” on iTunes….Gotta get this…it’s “the jam”. ;)
