I had to laugh on this one – when I read the title of this post, I knew exactly what the pictures were going to be before they came up. I have about 3 shirts that give me this problem: closed is a bit too high, open is a bit too low. I hate that. I actually considered making a new button hole and moving the button so that it would be just the right height, but that seemed a bit anal.
Anyway, to answer your question (not that it matters now that it’s 5 hours later), I would go with open.
Open, and not because I have man-love for your chest. Closed looks a little uptight, and open isn’t the I’m-having-a-midlife-crisis kind of open. It’s just…open, a little looser than the other one.
Totally relate to your dilemma here. Closed isn’t an option though — too constricting. But stray chest hairs isn’t necessarily a good like either. I gotta go with some previous suggestions. A t-shirt underneath solves the problem, as long as it’s not plain white. Go with a ringed-t.
