The History of Buckhead Church – by…Me

Posted on 30. Oct, 2007 by loswhit in Uncategorized

Wanna see a guy who has only been a staff member of a church less than 3 moths try to tell the history of the church like he was there from the beginning?

Yes. I did end with “We’re going to have a little bit of worship OF Moxie and the band.”
Lord forgive me…

So how weird was it saying “We did this back in 2003″ etc. when you’ve only been there 3 months?!?!?!
That was the weirdest thing when I came on full time at our church people would ask about our beginning (b/c we’re a “new” church plant) and I’d say “we” did this and that and then think, “I” didn’t do any of that! HAHAHA

Good job! Haha–well, i guess we all could use a little more Moxie worship in our lives! I’m not too sure how good he’d be at parting seas though…

Oh yes these predicaments are always fun. Dealt with it to a limited degree at my old church in New York. My favorite line: “We realized, wow, we need somewhere else to go.”

Imagine if some dude in the crowd who knew your situation actually stood up at that moment and said, “Really, Carlos? YOU realized that? I smell a LIAR!” and stormed off. Where would you go from there?

Is there anything harder to come up with than a good line to wrap up any annc. or presentation leading into worship? It’s always like, “and let’s get worshippin’” or “let’s sing some.” It tends to be a little awkward, but not as bad as “worshiping the band”. Nice
