Friends With Benefits
One of the “extra” benefits of this job is getting to sit under leadership who has done this far longer than I have.
I went from being one of the older guys to one of the younger.
So as I go through some pretty tough stuff, they are guiding me for a lot less than I was paying a counselor for.
Here is a nugget that I got this morning that may help your morning…
At the end of the day Carlos, you have 24 hours.
Quit giving time to problems that YOU can’t fix anyways and give that time back to what God has called you to do.
I spent the majority of my day yesterday consumed with a problem I have no control over.
Don’t you hate it when that happens?
Then this morning when I stopped wasting GOD’S time on MY issues I had a 45 minute conversation with a new friend on the phone who is SO CLOSE to seeing God’s truth revealed to them that they even let me pray for them.
It may not sound like much, but the fact that they said “Amen” after I got done is earth shattering.
Lord forgive me for my selfishness. Help me gaze at YOU.
What are you taking time away from God to do?

I know the feeling. What sucks is when you think you can fix it or have some control over it.
I’ve often felt irreplaceable in circumstances, only to find that the world still spins and problems get solved even after I’m removed.
I love seeing God do His thing…
After reading your post and Heather’s, thinking about all you have come through with the move and new job God opens up new lessons and shows us what it is all about, this wonderful life. Learning, growing, sometimes pain. These are my favorite blog entries and what keeps me reading blogs. We all learn. Thanks for your continued sharing.
(I’m actually just sticking around to see your kids blogs someday…they will be GOOD…)

I sometimes forget that I am a child of the creator of the universe. God is my daddy, He owns me. I am His child, there is no reason in the world that He won’t take care of me. My wife once said that when we worry, it’s like slapping God in the face. I try to think about that when I’m stressed.
This was huge for me. HUGE. Thanks for posting what I needed to hear this morning.
