I am the 1 in 50 that had complications... I told a friend who was going in to hurry because there were 49 slots open for no complications after me... :)

Yea Daniel. Thanks for commenting. I will jump in with you over there. But I still agree with Jarrett. Maybe he can do a whole series at 722 on this. Oh wait. It is for singles. Oh wait. They might need this more than I.

The questions I have for Jarrett...but I can hear the groans already.

Seriously, would you like to keep the conversation going...I can be content with just dropping it.

Okay, I'm not content. I don't want to jump on my soap box and say "YOU CAN'T BE RIGHT BECAUSE I HAVE A DIFFERENT OPINION". Instead, I want to say that your analogy gives me questions that left unanswered leaves me with gaps keeping me from seeing things from your perspective. (Can you tell why I volunteer on tech teams instead of creative teams? I am such a dork.)

How about I spare anyone who wants to see this thread end and move it to my blog. I'm going to post my thoughts on Jarrett's preachin over at my blog for anyone that wants to continue the conversation. (It could be a blog comment small group time...how would NP count it when they talk about how many small groups meet?)

For all those willing...http://danielkoster.wordpress.com

I love how Daddy's Little Vasectomy has morphed into a convo on Biblical Family Planning.
Only on Carlito's Blog.

The thing that gets me most about that argument is how miserably Jesus failed at Biblical Family Planning.
Clearly building the kingdom through child birth was not high on the priority list for Jesus.
Same with the argument that the goal for christian singles is marriage, and that the goal of marriage is to have as many kids as possible.
Again, Jesus kinda missed on that one.

Maybe not as important to him as it is to us.

Unless of course you're down with the Davini Code....

Well put Daniel. Seriously. Well written.
But I still think I am listening to God on this. I have adopted a child before I decided to have this surgery. So there is no compensation.
And to your friend who adopted. Kudos to them!!! The kids in Latvia would be fatherless without them.
We are praying about our next adoption. There are sooooo many children without parents around the world. We do not know if this will happen or not but after Losiah, I cannot go to bed at night with the thought of all the other orphans I saw in Korea waiting for someone like you or I do go rescue them.
And you are right. "It's Personal". But I do choose to share most of my personal decisions with the world on this blog and appreciate when difference of opinion arises.
I'm not as convinced as you are about the Biblical perspective on this.
But I appreciate your genuine concern.
THANKS!!!

I'm not very good at debate, and as Andy would say, "It's personal"...logical arguments aren't going to make a difference here.

But I do have a few bullet points I gotta throw out:

* For some reason God wanted a big family even though a MAJORITY have gone to the "other side" (and I'm appreciative to be a part of that family; that He didn't stop after Noah)

* When/If I am blessed with 20 kids, I will leave the 19 to go after the 20th, and party like it's 1999 when/if the 20th comes back.

* I know someone who deeply regrets having made this decision and just adopted five kids from Latvia to compensate.

I won't think any more or less of you if I can't sway your decision, and I am ever grateful for your service to North Point and God's church. I have lifted you up in prayer on this matter, not only for wisdom, but also for least amount of pain/complications and maximum blessings on your life regardless.

One more thing that I probably shouldn't say but can't help myself - "I prefer quality over quantity"...I personally prefer Biblical truths over American culture. Please ask yourself if you'd still think this way if you could filter out the influences of our culture.

Yea. I listened to Voddies message and actualy disagree with lots of it.
To have lots of kids to build the Kingdom of God is a bit of a stretch to me. You never know when one of your 20 kids will choose the other side. And then you had one for them.
I prefer quality over quantity.
