I had that problem.. (many that I've worked through) on my MacBook Pro.. 1.83 Ghz .. the battery (the replaced one by Apple) had no Amperage!! I think you can track Amperage in system prefs. But I had none, so the battery said it was charged, the power adapter turned green and nothing. Try that, Apple DID replace it. They also just replaced the power mac adapter when it started melting.
