Oh – this will be awesome… even though all I ever get are americanos… I wonder if there will be any need for a special system at starbucks of if the scanning the code will cover it?

i wonder if instead of the scan code you can just have a preset credit card number that you can pay with via the phone and then just show up to pick up your stuff.

will they have an express line? might the order not be cold by the time it’s picked up. or might it be melted if it’s already cold. (yes any of the light grande fraps are 2 points!) then i ask myself, is this really necessary? my mind is starting to race with the logistics of this proposition…

  12. larissa 11 January 2008 at 10:03 am #

oops i meant the tall fraps and w/o whip (which is kinda the best part imo). for more details you can always check dottie’s (dwlz.com)

so, of course this is sexy and cool…it’s apple and starbucks all in one. how can you beat that? :-)

but, does this not push starbucks further into the automated/efficient coffee experience category and further away from the “pure theater” that howard schultz envisioned and was so dogmatic about in the early years? not only are your espresso shots pulled by an automatic machine, your order printed on a label and stuck on the cup, but now you don’t even have to speak to place an order.

not trying to sound cynical…just remembering schultz’s email memo about the “watering down” of the starbucks experience and wonder if this is more of the same.

but dang, it sure is sexy! :-)

hehe awesome! though it will be 2050 before Starbucks in Ireland gets this & perhaps by then i will have an iPhone!!

  19. cool dad 11 January 2008 at 12:31 pm #

What? You can’t just hit a button and dip your iPhone in a cup of water to make coffee? What an inconvenience.

  20. carolyn 11 January 2008 at 12:33 pm #

now…. this is the kind of thing that makes me extraordinarily happy :-D . soon they will just be able to sense when i am desiring a piping hot triple tall soy white mocha no whip and it will just appear before me. (sigh)

hmmm… what was i going to say? oh, yes – video. i should have it in my hot little hands any day now. i have to check to make sure it’s ok with willow creek to post it up. if i’m allowed i definitely will.

  29. Mike Foster 11 January 2008 at 8:24 pm #

so this is what the Apple banners mean. They have photos of them hanging in the convention center. They read…”2008. Theres something in the air.” So does this mean if you dont have an Iphone youve got to stand in line like a shmuck

  30. joel gutowsky 12 January 2008 at 11:11 am #
