Where Is My Team?

Posted on 08. Jan, 2008 by loswhit in Uncategorized

Tuesdays are crazy.
The mornings take place in Alpharetta. At the mother ship campus.
I meet with Tyler and Julie at 715 AM for coffee and conversation.
Then I meet with Andy, Julie, and Tyler for about 2 hours.
Then we add a few more people to the mix for wide open creativity that lasts about an hour and a half.
By the time the afternoon hits my mind is pretty wiped out from creative/strategic thinking.
I love it but am ready to be “home”.
“Home” is Buckhead.
“Home” is my team.
I like to get off the escalator and visit all the offices and cubes and give hugs and conversation.
It refreshes me. It might annoy them, but it fuels me.
So I get off the elevator today and start my happy hugging hunt.
The cubes are somewhat empty…
I give out my hugs and go in search of the missing…
Go down to storage…Empty
Check the control room on level 2…Empty
Check the auditorium…Empty
Check the green rooms…Empty
Start heading towards the escalators and I hear some classic rock and “click click click” coming from above me.
As I make my way back to the 4th floor the music gets louder…
Now I hear LOTS of clicking…

Yesterday, during our all campus staff meeting, Andy mentioned that in early August we are going to have a 3 campus wide Rock Band contest on the HD center screen.
By the time I hit the top stair I knew…

I love my team.
You know what I say…
Work hard…
Play Hard…
They deserve a year of XBox play.
Love it here.

Dude, I am addicted to some Rock Band! This is how our small group rang in the new year….that’s right, playing Rock Band! I love to play some bass and sing from time to time, but only on some old school jams. We almost missed the ball drop, it’s addictive!

I saw it in a Best Buy a little while ago. Played a little, but wasn’t impressed. Way too many songs that I’m oblivious to.

    Los!

That rules. Hey, in light of all your meetings today, this just popped in my brain. I just got a copy of Bento for my Mac. It’s a personal data-base system that integrates iCal and Address Book, etc. It was just released this morning. You should check out the demo. I’ve been playing with it all day- it’s really cool. Perfect for busy, creative, project-managing folk like yourself.

I just posted about Rock Band last night, but in a “I hope I didn’t warp my baby by exposing him to Rock Band” sort of way. God has blessed you with a fun, rewarding job. Love every minute of it (which it sounds like you do).

    I really want to play this game… I miss my 360. :(

In other news, I’ve been more productive becoming a better musician…
    still sad though :(

that’s amazing. the tech/creative crew at my church totally did that a month or so back. it was 5 o’clock and my co-worker and I get a call to come to the sanctuary. I’m expecting a lecture on pre-service slide text readibility. Instead, it’s Rock Band set up on stage and splashed in three parts across our big screens – with lights and sound in full effect.

if I didn’t already know my job rocked, that would have solidified the notion.

Random question, but what is the young woman’s name with the blonde hair, I think I went to high school with her.

I believe there should be some Christian Rock downloadable content, then you could take the game on tour and compete between the bands at the different NP churches. That would make for a very entertaining worship service. :)
