5. Luke Says:
Let’s talk gear… what’s your guitar setup like?
Taylor T5 Sunburst…Avalon U5…Whatever pic I can find wedged between the car seats in the back.

Good idea. You have enough blogging material to last you the rest of the year now. And all these people will wanna hear it. Smart you are my friend. Here’s a few more:
a) Can I have some free drum loops to sample and try at our church from North Point?
b) What does the training/execution of your host teams look like at Buckhead?
c) Why is there braille on drive up ATM’s?
d) What is the actual definition and role of holy spirit baptism and when does it happen in the life of a Christ-follower? How does one know they have received it? (A slightly controversial one that might dip into that 14yr degree there.)
a – I don’t know. I work at Buckhead.
b – From what I have seen it is boot camp. They have an amazing orientation system that takes them from recruit to team captain. There are over 600 of them, I think, on our team. And they DOMINATE on Sundays. You can check our more about our amazing host teams at Buckhead church at the
host team blog.
c – Drive-up ATM buttons are marked with braille because federal regulations require it. To be specific, section 4.34.4 of the ADA Accessibility Guidelines for Buildings and Facilities (Appendix to Part 1191, 36 CFR Chapter XI, issued pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990) says, “Instructions and all information for use [of an automated teller machine] shall be made accessible to and independently usable by persons with vision impairments.” Drive-up ATMs, unlike the walk-up variety, don’t need to be wheelchair accessible, but the rules make no exception regarding accessibility by the blind.

d- Two schools of thought. One, it happened then and then only. This was the baptism that was nesesarry for all Christ followers from that point on. Two, It happens to a person when they accept Christ. Therefore synonymous with salvation.
My thoughts? I get baptized every morning, noon, and night. Right out of a hotel shampoo bottle. (That was for you OLD SCHOOL RAGAMUFFIN READERS!!!)

118. Josh Says:
hey los! (something I struggle with)
how do you balance the “I’ve got so much stuff to do to get ready for Sunday”
with the “I really need to be out from behind my macbook and building relationships with people”?
Simple. We both know that the “work” will never end. Right?
So if I spend all my time getting everything ready for Sunday behind my MacBook Pro, which can be done, then by the time Sunday rolls around, it LOOKS great yet NOONE knows me. And at that point I have failed far worse than it looking like crap and everyone knowing that I had a really #$! week so they are praying for me.

123. Bryan2 Says:
Who do you think will win the get to the Superbowl, and then who do think will win it?
Who do you think is the best blogger out there in the cyber world?
- Giants. I am a lover not a fighter. I always root for the underdog. It just feels better.
- Me. Of’Course. But besides me, I like
Seth Godin.

101. Pat Callahan Says:
How many licks does it take to get to the Tootsie Roll center of a Tootsie Pop?

96. clay Says:
Given the recent violence in east africa, are you nervous about traveling to kampala via nairobi?
Honestly. Yes. I am leaving my 3 children behind. My wife and I are going. So yea. I get some butterflies.

65. Andrew HNV Says:
What’s your favorite cigar?

48. Darcie Says:

I counted Tootsie Pop licks once as a 10 year old. It’s been one of my ‘ice breaker’ stories for years. I counted 410 licks.

    I think I just got schooled…

Hey Los, yep I am a lurker. I live in East Africa and noticed your thoughts on traveling through Nairobi on your way to Kampala…

First, I DON’T live in Nairobi, I live about 5 hours from Nairobi in the neighboring Tanzania…second…things are unpredictable day to day so this info may not help you…3rd, I am sure Compassion will help you all get there safe and sound…or at least route you in a way to get there safe and sound…

BUT…I have friends who live and work in Kenya (for the same org as I do) and if you want you can bookmark this link to hear from their end how things are going…it is a lot about work, but some about what they are seeing and experiencing. I noticed today they haven’t posted the latest…I actually think because of the MP being shot and the increased violence in the last 24 hours that CMF (the org I work for) has decided to evacuate all CMF people in Nairobi…

    anyhow…for what its worth…

Praying for you as you travel to Uganda, Africa is a lovely land, with lovely people…unfortunately in the news you don’t get that part of the story often.

I am totally embarrassed that I ever asked you that question. Thank you for posting soon after responding so that maybe not as many people read it.
(and Adam and Eve Singles? That’s just wrong)

What do you think of or have you heard of the group anoymous? And there attacks on the “religon” scientology?

There is NO reason to be nervous about transferring through Nairobi. The airport is perfectly safe, as are ALL my expat friends. Most of the violence is happening in the west and in the slums, which aren’t anywhere near the airport (it’s in a field, way out of town). I don’t know a single person who’s based in Nairobi who’s been evacuated.
