What you find above is another example as to why I love my job.
A great song.
A great singer.
A great digital artist.
This is from Josh our video director…

Here it is… the three screen wide shot plus the IMAG from the closing of our series Text. Dave Karger was directing this and he did an amazing job. I have to say that all of our directors have their different strengths. Dave’s strength is slow songs.
The design for the screens almost didn’t happen. I had the idea but… honestly because of time I almost didn’t create it. I am so glad I did. Dave thanks for knocking it out of the park on the IMAG. It’s an honor to work with such talented volunteers.

The top image is what was on the side screens.
This song closed out Andy’s Text series this past Sunday.
It was hauntingly refreshing.

While I’m alone and blue as can be, Dream A Little Dream Of Me. Stars fading, but I linger on, dear, Still craving your kiss; I’m longing to linger till dawn, my dear, Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you, Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you, But in your dreams whatever they be, Say ” night” and kiss me, Dream A little dream of you and me. && 5 comentarios Digital Design

Saw it live. Absolutely amazing. I knew it had to be Dave directing. It’s funny how you get used to different directors. I really miss volunteering there.

    YAY!

I get to see it! Rachel was trying to describe what was going on behind me while I was playing but obviously there wasn’t anyway for me to see it.

I cannot tell you how HONOURED I am to get work with you guys. I love it. Every time I get the call to come and play, well, it makes my day.

Everyone is just so freakin’ brilliant.

So how do you get the timing just right? I mean, what if she gets nervous and speeds it up a little and the words aren’t perfectly matching. Is there a click track in her ear or something? EXPLAIN YOURSELF! lol.

In regards to Emily’s question, (correct me if I’m wrong Carlos) the Production guys fire the video background for the middle screens out of Pro Video Player. This is a software program that some really talented guys from Northpoint wrote specifically for this type of situation. You can control on the fly the speed at which the clip plays.

It’s also possible that Meghan was playing to a click track that the video was designed around. This is almost a sure way not to get off tempo.

Amazing! I was there. I confess that the multimedia experience is one of the reasons I keep coming back to BC… and also in hope that one day I will be part of this production team. :0)

  24. John Ireland 29 February 2008 at 3:01 pm #

oh, yeah…that is sweet! well done!

  25. Josh P 29 February 2008 at 6:38 pm #

That’s right Aaron. We did use PVP and Meghan didn’t want to use a click so we just had the playback operator follow her speed. It worked out nicely. I used the original song to roughly place the lyrics and…. I got to run a hand held camera for the live performance. Double the fun. I love my job!
