The Goal – Plain And Simple

The Goal…
100 Kids Sponsored through RagamuffinSoul.com
I am with some all star bloggers here. We have about 3000 readers a day in this community.
Some I am hanging with have 20,000 a day.
So here is the deal.
I don’t think that asking us to sponsor 100 kids through RagamuffinSoul.com is out of this world.
I think we can do it.
And I think that Compassion International will take notice that the blogging community can actually make a difference.
So here is the deal.
SPONSOR A CHILD THROUGH THIS LINK.
Then let’s share the name of our child and where they are sponsored from.
Most of the homes here live on 30 dollars a month.
Homes full of 4 and 5 people.
I will stand before the world and proclaim that your 32 dollars a month changes lives forever. I have already met hundreds of those lives changed.
We CAN Make A Difference.
We can.
You In?

even though i began sponsoring her before your trip (January), it was because of this trip and the influence compassion has that i began to look closer at compassion to begin with. see, i also sponsor through one life child (http://onelifechild.org) – an organization in sister-partnership with our church.

from compassion: Mediatrix Nabwire from Uganda (6 yrs old)

from one life child: PhaPhama Maqeda from SA (5 yrs old)

Early yesterday, Selasie Quarshie from Ghana became a part of our family. :) I’ve always felt a call to Ghana… after talking to friends who are missionaries there, they know his village, and are going to find him for me personally!!! I’m going to Ghana in a few months… I’ll be able to meet him probably! Very wild!

Thank You – Thank You – Thank You!!!

I sponsor two amazing kids, Lisbeth (Bolivia) and Immanuel (Kenya). I have had the honor of meeting Immanuel two times and have gotten to spend some great time with them. I know the sponsorship makes a huge difference in the lives of these kids and families, but if you haven’t sponsored a child, I truly urge you to as the sponsorship and the relationship you build with your child will rock your world.

  16. Leslie Brooke 13 February 2008 at 2:22 pm #

I just sponsored Stella from Uganda. She’s 4 years old. Thanks for opening our eyes to the opportunities God gives us to reach out!

I already sponsored Staurin from Dominican Republic, Angie from Colombia, and Marsabi from Mexico, but although not through one of the blogger’s links, I just sponsored Rebecca, age 5, from Uganda, on Saturday as a result of this trip. So let Compassion know that the numbers from this trip are actually higher than just the blog links are going to show, because I see others posting the same thing — sponsoring because of the trip but not through the specific links!

Your video updates are AMAZING, by the way. Thanks so much!

  22. Jessica 13 February 2008 at 4:05 pm #

I just sponsored a beautiful little girl in Uganda, Hellen Amali. Thanks for taking this trip and inspiring me. I have been reading your blog and your wife’s blog for a couple of months now, but this is my first time leaving a response. You both along with my brother in-law (The Original Mudpuppy) inspired me to start blogging. Thanks for your work in Uganda.

  23. Corey Mann 13 February 2008 at 4:28 pm #

  29. Sarah 13 February 2008 at 7:01 pm #

Sponsored a little boy in Uganda yesterday after reading Sean’s post. His name is Aaron, and he is one day older than my son Sam. Sam can’t wait to write him letters.

I’m thankful that you guys are there and sharing. I visited Honduras in college and have witnessed this kind of poverty. I swore that I would never forget, but I had. Thanks for reminding me.

  30. Jen 13 February 2008 at 8:07 pm #

I now have sponsored a kid through World Vision for a few years (we randomly share the same birthday), but as of last night I also sponsor a 5 year old Ugandan girl named Sophia (same as my niece that will be born in April). Let me know when you go again cause I am SO in.

  31. Canaan 13 February 2008 at 8:30 pm #

  32. Amy 13 February 2008 at 9:19 pm #

We are now blessed to be the sponsors of Niwamanya Kevin (age 14). This sponsorship is in honor of my husband… his gift this Valentines Day, that I pray will rock his socks off for the many years to come. I chose Niwamanya Kevin for our family for many reasons.

  33. Amy 13 February 2008 at 9:21 pm #

By the way, Kevin is from Uganda.

  34. Skyler Goodman 13 February 2008 at 9:54 pm #

A beautiful 8yr old girl with two other siblings!

  35. Jill 14 February 2008 at 7:03 am #

We have Magadline, a 3 year old girl in Uganda.
This has been heavy on my heart for a few months. Ever since I heard Way FM’s trip and their encouragement to sponsor a child. Lastnight, my husband and I had a tearful conversation about how we are blessed so we can be a blessing to others.
I cannot wait to get our packet in the mail and start to put a face to this name, and continue to pray for her and her family daily.

What an awesome experience and what an awesome tool this is to teach your own children about compassion.

  36. Shelley 14 February 2008 at 7:27 am #

Daniel Villatoro, who will turn 7 in July, from Mexico. My oldest son picked him up upon returning from a mission trip to Mexico.

This is inspiring me to write him another letter and send him some more money. I’m sure he can never get enough of either one. My youngest always remembers him in his prayers at night and wonders how he is.

  37. Joey & Jennifer 14 February 2008 at 7:46 am #

We just sponsored a 3-year-old little girl (Catherine) from Uganda born 2 days after our little girl (Kathryn Anne). We’ve been thinking about doing this for a while. Thanks for pushing us over the edge.

  38. Christine 14 February 2008 at 8:02 am #

Bridget Natocho – age 3, Maanga, Uganda
more info about her and my decision to sponsor her here

I’m single, not even dating, have no kids, and was feeling bummed about Valentine’s Day. God’s been tugging on my heart to do this, and I can’t think of a better Valentine’s Day present to give to Him.

  39. Rachel 14 February 2008 at 8:29 am #

My girl’s name is Christine, she’s turning 4 on Monday and is from Uganda. I signed up today (Valentine’s Day) and can relate to Christine’s comment, very much. Although I’m not really bummed about Valentine’s Day, I do know that my heart has been totally wrecked following you and Shaun on this trip. It was time to step forward…and here we are!

Thank you so much, Los. I can’t wait to write letters to Christine and to go see her someday. Part of my heart is officially in Uganda now.

I am not sure how I first found your site, but I have been reading it for a couple weeks now. Thank you for going where the rest of us are sometimes afraid to. My husband and I just sponsored and we chose to have Compassion pick for us. They know the needs to most!

  41. Elizabeth 14 February 2008 at 12:23 pm #

Sponsored several days ago through Rocksinmydryer — Irene Nabwire, 6yrs old whose birth date is the same as our daughter, but Irene is 5yrs older — wondering if she’s sister to the child sponsored by Crystal (posted above)? VERY anxious to make whatever difference that we can — Wish that we could take care of them ALL!! What a beautiful and worthwhile trip!!

  42. cheri 14 February 2008 at 2:18 pm #

    Lisset, age 14, Dominican Republic

Signed up about 3 weeks ago – Shaun did a couple of concerts in the area. I’m the photographer for the artist who opened both shows for him – it’s been on my heart to do this for awhile, I shouldn’t have taken so long.

I chose an older child because I heard Mark Harris (I think) talk about how excited the older ones are when they get a sponsor because they don’t think it’s ever going to happen. I went through Shaun’s packets and found the oldest.

Now I need to get my parents and my brother’s family to do this!

  43. sally 14 February 2008 at 2:47 pm #

We sat down this afternoon and added Juana, age 5, from Guatemala to our family of five.

THANK YOU for prompting us to take that step and make a difference for at least one child. We are praying for all of you as you continue to spread God’s love to those precious children in Uganda! We will never be the same because of what you have shared.
