Carlos,
I went to Uganda back in 2000. It was my first trip to Africa and I must admit it was life changing. The people there were great. I spent two weeks working in the bush and helping build a church. I would love to go back….do you have an extra ticket??
Praying for you man….
I just got back two days ago, from living and working in East Africa. Most of my time was in Tanzania but I spent some time in Kenya too. Sadly I never made it to Uganda, but I have friends there!
Check out their blog:

Have a good trip, I will be praying for all of you! Your life will forever be changed.
I haven’t been to Uganda, but I have been to Ethiopia. The easiest way to share my experiences is just to give you the link to my Ethiopia blog posts. It was an incredible trip, and I’m praying you and your wife have an equally life-changing experience.

I’ve been twice. It is an beautiful country that has known tremendous suffering. I spent the majority of my time in Kampala and Masaka.
Jackson Ssenyonga pastors Christian Life Church in Kampala and is doing an incredible work.
I can’t wait to go back. Ugandans are an amazingly resilient, gracious and loving people.
I’m going to Rwanda this summer. I’m excited!
south africa. last year. and in 33 days.
Nathan and I went back in August of 2006. It was awesome! Beautiful country, amazing people and so much to take in. We will be praying for you guys.
My family and I went on family mission trip to Uganda back in 2005. LIFE CHANGING trip for all of us…we worked with a missionary family with the IMB. Specifically we were in a little town called Ntalla…incredible people. We hope to go back soon. Blessings on you as you go!
I live in Egypt and we have a very large African community in our church mainly made up of Sudanese and Nigerians, but with a good smattering of East Africans too. Just got home after our African service – outstanding worshipers!
Missed you this year at cre:ate – really upset I couldn’t make it. Wave as you fly over Egypt ok?
I went to Uganda in 2005 as part of setting up a base in the north in Lira for the Missions arm of our church – LightForce International. We started a feeding programe for all IDP orphans in the region. Have been involved in the relocation of IDPs back to their homes with the advent of the truce between the government and the LRA rebels. Presently LightForce are involved in rebuilding the various pieces of infastructure in the villages and a special needs programme for children
Just got back from Kenya in January. http://web.mac.com/thebizzle
Going to Uganda in May…can’t wait to hear about your journey…and see all the children that are impacted.
Africa is an amazing place….you won’t be the same…
Steve and i were in Ethiopia last Aug. We adopted our precious daughter Eva. It was trully amazing and i for sure want to go back. You can see pics of Eva at http://www.solidrck.blogspot.com. Have an Awesome trip and we are looking forward to hangin out soon
I’m in Africa quite a bit and have been to Uganda several times on my way in and out of the DR Congo, which is where my work is. It’s a beautiful country, people are incredibly welcoming and friendly, and the contrast between what you’ll see in the modern, upscale sections of Kampala and the poor villages and slums on the outskirts and in the countryside is hard to take.
Not to be obnoxious, but I made a list of travel tips for first-timers in Africa awhile back. It’s here if you’re interested: http://texasinafrica.blogspot.com/2007/11/your-first-time-in-africa.html
The most important thing to remember is to shake hands with and greet everyone you meet. Don’t take pictures of anything without asking first. Don’t stand under trees where marabou storks are roosting (those birds are seriously taller than me). And go to Khana Kazana in Kampala, because their Indian food is to-die-for. If there’s an emergency, you can draw American dollars off of a Visa credit card in the basement of the main Barclay’s Bank on Kampala Road downtown. You can use a Visa (with your PIN) at any Barclay’s or Standard Chartered ATM to get Ugandan Shillings, including the ones at the airport (in the exit area, past customs).
Have so much fun!!! We’ll be praying for you!
I spent some time in Casablanca, Morocco. It’s very similar to the middle East, except the people there speak French. I hear Uganda might be *slightly* different!
Blessings on your journey, Los.
I went to Uganda for 7 weeks last summer with a program that does reading lessons using the Gospel of Luke. I was in Jinja, where the source of the Nile River is, just east of Kampala. The missionaries I stayed with you can read about here http://jinjamissions.org
They help teach village pastors and village pastors. They also run an internet cafe called The Source that lets Ugandans have access to Christian literature and other great things. It’s the only source of internet in the town and it’s all Christian oriented.
ALSO, I wanted to tell you that YELLOW in Uganda is what PINK is in the US. There was a guy in my group that wore yellow all the time and eventually my Uganda friends asked me why he always wore “women” colors.
You’ll have a great time!!
Thought you might be interested in checking out the journey of a family that just moved to Uganda, working for eMi, an Engineering ministry. They are incredible folks!

Do Work.
I have not been to Uganda, but I have been to South Africa and Malawi. I am currently looking into working in South Africa at this moment. You will fall in love with the people, it will change your life, and a little piece of your heart will always be in Africa. It is an experience that you will never forget!
I only wish I could be going to Uganda right now. My church goes frequently and has a “baby cottage” orphanage there. It’s beautiful. I’ll go someday, but only when God opens the doors.
Take care, Los!
Tanzania with Campus Crusade. amazing.
Uganda last July. It was amazing! Actually saw Fall Out Boy at the airport in Intebbi, which was weird.
October spent 12 days in Burkino Fasso, West Africa. Amazing and I would move there!
yep, i’ve been. i have a feeling you will meet many of my new African friends. praying for your trip.
I got back two weeks ago from Ethiopia. It was amazing! I am forever changed as I’m sure you will be. Be aware that you may desperately want to adopt another child on this trip. Just a warning.
