The story of Joshua and Caleb going out to spy and coming back and saying “let’s GO! God is going to give us the promised land” and all the people being too scared and listening to the other 10 spies. They gave in to fear.
Like so many of us do.
We need to be the ones to GO and grab hold of what God has promised. And Go into this crazy world of ours and bring HOPE instead of fear.
It’s palm sunday this sunday and all those people were welcoming Jesus and then a couple days later they crucify him. Their praise had no substance. We need to be the people with substance to our praises. Go out and take this land!

    how’s that for a sermon? :)

The fact that God was able to speak to King Nebuchadnezzar and he was not a “believer”. A lot of times the church thinks they are the only way God can speak or the only one God speaks to…when sometimes we are just the keys like Daniel to interact in the real world to unlock what God is trying to say!!!

Following Jesus instead of doctrines, tradition, denominational lines, historical reformations… following the example Jesus himself laid down and actually towing the line…

Enough with the “I’m -insert-denominational-affiliation-here-” but BEING a REAL Christian, the way Peter, Paul, and the other disciples were.

Enough of this “if it fits MY life” way of Christianity.

    SHUT UP OR PUT UP.

(oh sorry, that’s my sermon in a few weeks, not Sunday)

Yeah, I’m gonna be popular… lolol

I would preach that God Cried! He cried when his friend died and he cried over Jerusalem. His tears were that of heartbreak for those that had no clue. He also cried out to his father on the cross!!! Jesus was emotional and I love that about him.

Every time I turn around God is talking to me about the SAME thing: I have much; so many others have so little. Why aren’t I sharing MORE? I have the potential to make an impact. Why aren’t I doing it?
I JUST read a quote a moment ago about lowering MY standard of living so that I can RAISE my standard of giving. That’ll preach.

The song of the Seraphim in Isaiah and Revelation.

…I’d preach on confusion. I’ve been a Christian for most of my adult life (let’s say 26 years or more) and I’m becoming more and more confused about the whole church thing, the whole Christian thing, the whole I’ve-got-it-together thing. Seems to me that Evangelicals and those who think they walk the straight line are today’s answer to the ancient Scribes and Pharisees. They THINK they’ve got it right.Politically, ethically, financially… but historically Jesus seldom (if ever) related to those who figured they figured it all out. It was those who were simply LIVING, trying to get by, trying to cope, trying to hope… they were the ones that felt His compassion, His love, His approval the most. Zacchaeus, the woman at the well, the man blind since birth, the Roman Centurion, the thief on the cross next to Him. Seems the more I know, the more I don’t know. It concerns me, it bothers me, but I think it’s exactly where Jesus would have me. Don’t tell me you know Jesus. I doubt anyone does. Tell me how LITTLE you know of Him. Cause that’s where I can relate.

Either (depends on what the Spirit leads me to):

    1. My testimony being freed from the bondage of pornography and lust. (I might reserve that for Porn Sunday but I have been dying to deliver that to the 13,000+ members of my church).

    2. God speaking to you: I taught 4-6 year olds on hearing God from Samuel 3 the Sunday before. I would use that as a transition into Jeremiah 1 on God speaking to us and hearing His voice.

pinkcamojeep: “Lowering standard of living to give more”

I just did that. I took a job that paid $20k less then previous job but then God provided a way to spend less money per month. This job gave me more time. More time and more money so I can give more of it away.

I would invite Paul Harvey to come and share the rest of the Gospel. You know, the part about God’s heart for the poor and the oppressed, and God’s plan to create a new heavens and a new earth, and that this planet matters, and that women should be called “pastors” if thats what they do, and that most of the Christians on TV don’t speak on behalf of me (or more importantly Jesus), and I would close with a Curtis Mayfield song… and then maybe come back for an encore with an interview with Marilyn Manson. I’d ask Marilyn why he isn’t a Christian. And then I’d buy him lunch, and tell him that I’ve been to two of his concerts. And then I’d play a Curtis Mayfield song for him, just to see if Marilyn Manson could bob his head a little bit to some killer music (thanks Starbucks for the heads up).
