So I wore my RED GAP leather jacket to work today and I got comments down EVERY corridor I walked today.
From…”I LOVE IT!!! Where did you get it?”
To…”Hey, It’s Thriller!!!”
So I am on the fence.
I need help deciding if I keep it in the wardrobe.
Wear The Red?
Or
Don’t Be Caught Dead
And why…
Los

Hmmmm I love the red but I am not feeling the white in the jacket.

  4. Amy 16 April 2008 at 12:13 pm #

Let me add that I think you can wear anything and make it work – SO KEEP IT!!

  5. Dana 16 April 2008 at 12:16 pm #

Do you like it? Then rock it.

  6. Derek Sweatman 16 April 2008 at 12:17 pm #

we were raised to wear whatever it was that we wanted to wear…and to care less about what others think or say.

wear it out, los; wear it out.

  7. John Blanchard 16 April 2008 at 12:23 pm #

I think it looks pretty sweet. I like the white on it also. Thanks for saying it was from The Gap. I might pick one up myself…

  8. ruthanne 16 April 2008 at 12:26 pm #

    wear it most definitely.

  9. Nathan G. 16 April 2008 at 12:30 pm #

dude, you need to keep that junk!! That is a rad jacket! Besides, even if people think it is out of the 80′s, all good trends (especially in fashion) make their way back around, so you are safe either way.

keep it. or give it to me.

  10. portorikan 16 April 2008 at 12:30 pm #

It’s like an upgraded Thriller jacket. If you’re comfortable, sport that piece.

If not, then don’t. You gotta KNOW though that you make IT look good.

    :)

  11. travis spencer 16 April 2008 at 12:35 pm #

i’m just wondering why you wear a leather jacket when it’s 70s in Atlanta?
I like it. But aren’t you sweating?

  12. justin mckinney 16 April 2008 at 12:36 pm #

All you need now is for it to be cold and you should purchase a motorcycle! Peace…J

  13. Judith Thomas 16 April 2008 at 12:41 pm #

I love it so much that I’m going to get one right after work…awesomeness. Be proud!

  14. John Ireland 16 April 2008 at 12:45 pm #

i get your being on the fence, but i agree with most of the above…keep it!

  15. Daleyhake 16 April 2008 at 12:46 pm #

“RED” was a bunch of bullshit.
gap is stilllll one of the top human rights violators.
    ditch it.

  16. Daleyhake 16 April 2008 at 12:47 pm #

…but you do look good ;)

  17. Davis 16 April 2008 at 12:47 pm #

I’m not totally aware of any Michael Jackson trends that successfully made a comeback HOWEVER, you seem like someone who can pull off just about anything so I say go with it. I respect it.

  18. Stephen 16 April 2008 at 12:49 pm #

    Rock it! Plus, it’s (red).

  19. Jason Allen 16 April 2008 at 12:51 pm #

If you get rid of it feel free to mail it to me, I’ll take it. I’ll even pay the postage. :)

  20. brian 16 April 2008 at 12:58 pm #

if you like it, rock it… yours is the only opinion that matters

  21. The Domestic Goddess 16 April 2008 at 1:11 pm #

It’s a nice idea. But I can’t get Thriller out of my head. Kinda looks like a Member’s Only jacket. Which I hear might be in style again(or not).

  22. Kris Sorensen 16 April 2008 at 1:26 pm #

I’m with Justin; wear it – but you need to get a motorcycle.

  23. Becky 16 April 2008 at 1:28 pm #

Red is my favorite color, but I have to admit that my first thought was “All he needs is a white glove and parachute pants.”

  24. Janie 16 April 2008 at 1:33 pm #

    don’t love it….at all. sorry!

  25. Dave 16 April 2008 at 1:37 pm #

    Keep it.

You get bonus points if you post a youtube of you in your jacket doing the moon walk :)

  26. Clay 16 April 2008 at 1:42 pm #

    Dude—-!!
It’s like new millenia Member’s Only—-what the heck??

  27. ever after photograpy 16 April 2008 at 2:06 pm #

Yes! Yes! Red is always a good look.

  28. steven.russell 16 April 2008 at 2:17 pm #

    Here’s an idea, Los.

Don’t worry about what other people say. Do what you want.

If you like it, wear it.

Be comfortable in your own decision.

  29. sean 16 April 2008 at 2:24 pm #

    negative.

  30. Happy Mommy 16 April 2008 at 2:28 pm #

    I’m think’n wear it!

  31. Kyle 16 April 2008 at 2:31 pm #

Without a doubt keep it and wear it. I have one similar. I think it makes you look BA. If that’s what you want [which of course you do, you're a guy just like me] then you definitely succeeded.

    Rock’n the Red!!

  32. John 16 April 2008 at 2:33 pm #

Dude, I say rock it! I’ve got the same jacket and wear it when I ride my motorcycle.

  33. Jenni Catron 16 April 2008 at 2:43 pm #

    Love it – wear it!

  34. Art 16 April 2008 at 2:45 pm #

Dude. DUDE! You sound like a girl. Of course keep the jacket. Does it fit? Does it keep you warm? Is it real leather (meaning an animal was killed and skinned to make it)? What man in his right mind would discard it?

By the way… be thankful you obviously have the financial resources to ask “should I keep it or not.”

  35. Erica (A Yankee in Jawja) 16 April 2008 at 2:54 pm #

    Love it.

First, it’s not solid “red” and it’s not really red “red.”

If you love it and it makes you feel good wear it.

P.S. How’s your friend doing (the one trying out for Biggest Loser?) I’ve tried to go back to the website, but I can’t seem to locate it. Has her blog been removed or did it change locations?

    Thanks.

  36. David 16 April 2008 at 3:20 pm #

    Rock the Red!

  37. Scott 16 April 2008 at 3:28 pm #

High visibility. Maybe some red pants, too. And a red helmet.
    Yeah!

  38. Adam 16 April 2008 at 3:29 pm #

I like the leather jacket.. i couldnt pull it off.. but it you can..

  39. petey*crowder 16 April 2008 at 3:33 pm #

I’m not for all this “if you like it, wear it.”

That thing offends my rights. If I were to see you on the street wearing that that jacket, I would feel violated. Chances are, others feel violated too.

And Daleyhake’s right, (red) is a bunch of crap.

  40. Loran 16 April 2008 at 3:46 pm #

    Speed Racer….dude…it’s all you!

  41. Brooke 16 April 2008 at 3:47 pm #

I’m not a big fan, i think you could find a hotter jacket. Red isn’t in….that’s all.

  42. Lita 16 April 2008 at 3:55 pm #

    Road Kill Dead!!!

  43. April James 16 April 2008 at 4:22 pm #

um, looks like you need some more honesty around here…sorry, but it really stinks! Should be left in the 80′s- makes all the young kids that see you laugh at the old guy after you walk by. Sorry, but gotta be real.

  44. pam 16 April 2008 at 4:33 pm #

I’m with Derek. Who cares what other people think? Wear what you want to wear and leave it at that.

  45. pitt 16 April 2008 at 4:37 pm #

To big for you!Besides who wheres leather jackets in the summer?

  46. Marnie 16 April 2008 at 4:48 pm #

    I dig it.

  47. Emily from FL 16 April 2008 at 4:48 pm #

YES, wear it everyday of your life. It’s vintage AND it’s red. I want one.

  48. Patrick 16 April 2008 at 4:55 pm #

well…I almost bought it. Plus, you’re nearly as cool as Bono in it. Nearly. Where’d you find the freaking red cow though? Is that how they do in the ATL?

  49. juliebelle 16 April 2008 at 5:25 pm #

give it the boot my friend.

  50. Chris 16 April 2008 at 6:01 pm #

Well, David Archuleta is wearing the identical jacket on American Idol tonight. I’m not saying, I’m just saying.

  51. Skyler 16 April 2008 at 6:15 pm #

HA! Chris, I was just going to say the same thing. I mean as if you need any more proof…the 17 year old American Idol owns it…cmon, you have to keep it!

  52. Rebecca Moon 16 April 2008 at 6:23 pm #

i have a red leather jacket, and it is by far the coolest, most rockstar accessory i own.

    keep iiiittttttttt.

  53. Angie 16 April 2008 at 6:40 pm #

Hmmmm…I like it, not sure about the white stripe in it. I would definitely keep it in the wardrobe, just might not wear it with that shirt…maybe too much red? lol…you know style. go with your instincts. :)

  54. Jared 16 April 2008 at 6:46 pm #

I am saying you need to get rid of it…. If you give it to me, i will make sure you don’t have to wear it anymore. I will take good care of it!

  55. evan 16 April 2008 at 6:58 pm #

    it looks good.

  56. Brittney Ek 16 April 2008 at 6:59 pm #

WOW. A conversation about a red leather jacket got this many comments? I think I’ll post about my black stiletto heels and see what stirs up. Dress in all leather or be naked…just own it.

  57. Rhen @yestheyareallmine 16 April 2008 at 7:01 pm #

I love it! Looks like it wears well on ya. :)

  58. Naz 16 April 2008 at 7:05 pm #

Well, I’m not quite feelin it either. I say at least zip the pocket and wear something under it besides a white shirt that contrasts the white stripe. But I’m also full of crap today.

  59. Cash 16 April 2008 at 7:30 pm #

I hate it. Get rid of it and send it to my house.

  60. sharon 16 April 2008 at 7:52 pm #

take it back – it looks like you are trying to hard. looks like something from the 1980s and that all sucked.

  61. Sue 16 April 2008 at 7:56 pm #

#1 fix my link!!!!! and #2 the red is a little thriller-ishhy, so if you keep the shiney dome…I think you are good

  62. coni andress 16 April 2008 at 8:10 pm #

Like it from the back. Like the cut in back. Not fond of the front. Hey, I know. Just walk backwards into a room and you will be a “fashion do”.

  63. Amy 16 April 2008 at 8:21 pm #

I think it’s rad. Be you.

  64. Ally 16 April 2008 at 9:10 pm #

Save it for Halloween and be Michael Jackson?

If someone can pull this jacket (which I think is ugly) off, it’s you. Go with your gut.

  65. Rhi 16 April 2008 at 10:15 pm #

it IS kinda thrillerish but it DOES look good on you. i say keep it.

  66. Gareth 16 April 2008 at 10:31 pm #

Dude, I’m coming down for drive so if you decide you don’t like it. You can give it to me. Hahaha… Basically, I think it rocks (has like an 80′s feel to it).

  67. Jesse 17 April 2008 at 4:13 am #

    Rock it, sport it! aintnoshameinyogame!

  68. Tracey 17 April 2008 at 4:38 am #

I like it… but if you don’t like it so much you won’t be able to pull it off. Good luck! ~:-)

  69. Marty 17 April 2008 at 4:54 am #

    ONly on certain occasions, like…Halloween

  70. Ronni 17 April 2008 at 5:02 am #

Keep it. Then learn a few MJ moves to make them stutter when they make thriller comments again. MUAH!

  71. Tammy Marcelain 17 April 2008 at 5:20 am #

Anything Gap Red is great by me. If you love it wear it.

  72. dew 17 April 2008 at 5:45 am #

HeHe! Sch’mon Billie Jean!!! Now if you could just do that leg kick/twist thingy.

  73. Josh 17 April 2008 at 5:52 am #

i love it… however, if it leaves your wardrobe, it needs to end up in mine!

  74. Crystal Renaud 17 April 2008 at 6:07 am #

i like it but there’s something about the white that makes me uncomfortable.

  75. David Hale 17 April 2008 at 6:35 am #

I say you should rock it! There are very few people that can pull off cool and interesting looks and you are one of them. Now see, if I tried that on in the store I think the Gap employees would ask if they could help me find something else. However, they probably wanted you to be in their catalog. Keep it.

  76. Chris 17 April 2008 at 7:02 am #

my first thought was, “Why is Los stealing stuff from Michael Jackson?”

  77. pinkcamojeep 17 April 2008 at 7:10 am #

    Los,
The fact that you had to ask, says you’re not comfortable in it (anymore). Haven’t you had it a while? Seems like I saw it in a photo some time back because I remember thinkin’, “Cool Jacket!” And – Red is Always In! (you’d look jaundiced in the current hot color – yellow).
So, thumbs up from me. But, if you’re not gonna feel sportin’ when you wear it,then let it go. Don’t let it hang in the closet if you’re not gonna put it on. In fact, make a contest out of giving it away on the blog!!

Does Your Wife like it? No other opinion matters diddly squat. I think it is good but I’m old and without a clue. Your wife is VERY much a clue.

  79. West 17 April 2008 at 7:24 am #

I’m in the Thriller camp. But hey, I actually had the Thriller jacket.

  80. Trina 17 April 2008 at 8:29 am #

LOVE it! Wish my hubby had one :)

  81. Tymm 17 April 2008 at 9:26 am #

Keep rocking it. With my daughter waiting for me in Ethiopia I tend to favor anything (RED).

So rock that thing with pride (though I agree a motorcycle would go quite well with it)

  82. Don't Taze Me Dude 17 April 2008 at 10:47 am #

Who the freak cares what you wear? Get some self esteem and pick your own clothes.

  83. Tim 17 April 2008 at 11:10 am #

Keep the Jacket. Thriller is still amazing

  85. Nathan Wright 17 April 2008 at 12:46 pm #

i have the same jacket…given to me by an uncle.

    too big though…

    do the red.

  86. Sunny Cain 17 April 2008 at 2:02 pm #

so, not sure if you watch American Idol or not, but David Archuletta was wearing a jacket almost identical on Tuesday night. that could be a deal breaker for you

  87. Jenni K 17 April 2008 at 3:08 pm #

here’s the real question – would you wear it in Cali? you can get away with it. it kind of looks like a bowling ball bag…..

  88. Gary 17 April 2008 at 7:24 pm #

Ditch it. It’s a leather jacket.

  89. Carole Turner 18 April 2008 at 6:00 am #

“The working conditions we highlight in the Hall of Shame exemplify the types of violations that are rampant within the apparel industry, as well as other labor-intensive industries such as laundries and toys. Because Gap is now working actively with human rights groups in India to address the problem of child labor and sweatshops, we have not included Gap in the Hall of Shame. Instead, we have turned the spotlight on companies that have failed to take any meaningful steps towards addressing labor violations even after workers themselves have organized and demanded decent working conditions.

For 2008, the official inductees of the Sweatshop Hall of Shame are:

American Eagle, Carrefour, Cintas, Dickies, Disney, Guess, Hanes, New Era, Speedo, Tommy Hilfiger, Toys “R” Us, and Wal-Mart. ”

well…I see that your red jacket post is above your white gold post, so we need to look to the old pilot’s phrase to see if the jacket stays or goes. When approaching a runway to land the pilot will see two sets of lights, they are red lights and white lights…

Red over Red?-you’re dead (meaning you’re too low)
White over White?-you’re high as a kite (you’re too high)
Red over White?-you’re alright! (land that plane!)

So to answer your question does it stay or does it go…Red Jacket post over White Gold post…Red over White…you are ALRIGHT!

    Blessings to you!
