Top 5 Ragamuffin Essentials

Posted on 30. Apr, 2008 by loswhit in Weblogs

Photo 357Hey guys. I am going to replace the “Most Recent Comments” section on the side bar with “Ragamuffin Soul Essentials”
These will be the top 5 posts or series of posts that new readers should read when they come to the blog.
So it is time to put your thinking caps on.
I really need some of you OG Ragamuffins here.
I started this blog on July of ‘05.
Which posts, if a person could only read five posts, would give them the clearest view as to what this place is all about?
I think that will be more useful than the recent comments.
Think of it like the greatest hits.
What are the top 5 posts of all time around here…

I was on the fence about it. But I’m leaning towards it.
And yes David. The adoption is key.

I’m biased, of course, but I dig me some of this post: http://www.ragamuffinsoul.com/?p=1142

Look at how many of what category your posts are – WELL DUH – family – you are all about family. The one with your daughter – BooDaddy the Finale is a definite YES. May also something silly like the ping pong tourney. After that – all up to you man- you are so much about your family – even the LA ink seg is for Heather and the kids. Good idea – very good – the comments are just us – but the Best Of ‘los is a classic.

LOS – you are asking for the moon. I am almost always encouraged or challenged to bigger creativity by what you share. Here are my humble thoughts for ya:

    LA Ink
    Creative stuff (like http://www.ragamuffinsoul.com/?p=4951)
    Throwin’ Rocks At Yo BooDaddy

Thats my thoughts for now – THANKS, MICHAEL

For some reason, the “iDiscipline” posts come to mind. Not that you should include those, but I loved the mention. The adoption vids, for sure. And definitely this http://www.ragamuffinsoul.com/?p=4363

  14. Tyler 30 April 2008 at 6:51 pm #

i know they are relatively new but either something to do with your la ink time or your post on the easter services at buckhead.

Yes, 100% that one. Absolutely. Without a doubt.

just to add to what is already a great list of suggestions… your whole ‘faitherhood’ series was amazing. to feed the other side of the brain… you’ve had some great posts about your favorite productivity tools. good luck narrowing to five…. :)

  17. Hale-Yeah! 30 April 2008 at 8:19 pm #

    chris pretty much nailed it.

  18. dave 30 April 2008 at 8:44 pm #

just 5 posts, that would be nearly impossible to encompass the ragamuffin soul community in just 5 posts. I suggest 5 themes, each theme can encompass a number of posts to give a first timer the flavor of the site. Suggested themes might be Losiaha’s adoption, faith, fatherhood / family, worship leading, the transition from sandals to buckhead. Man, the list really just goes on, I can’t even limit myself to 5 themes. Good luck Los.

There is a post you made all about great applications for Mac’s, it may need updating but I think it was the most helpful, especially for recent Mac converts like me!

  20. Rhi 30 April 2008 at 11:19 pm #

I agree with Chris except the last one for me would be Sandals related. I’m bias, sorry.

I’m moving to Texas so I’ll be half way to you guys. We’ll have to plan a weekend visit, k.

  21. Rhi 30 April 2008 at 11:20 pm #

if you can make it six…. your mid-afternoon distractions are funny and encompass that part of your sense of humor. plus they make us laugh.

  22. carolyn 1 May 2008 at 12:18 am #

yeah, i have to agree with kristen’s suggestion… and the whole adoption thing.

i actually started reading as you were posting the adoption videos. i think probably the biggest thing that first drew me here was the diversity of your family. i really hope that doesn’t sound weird. racial diversity is a concept near and dear to me. sadly, it’s not commonly found in the church and even more uncommon in families. i think you have a rare gift and it reminds me of how i think God intended for His people to live.

the ‘faitherhood’ post paints such a beautiful picture of this diversity. the adoption posts sucked me the rest of the way in. and the compasson posts reinforced the whole idea. i remember once you referred to losiah as the little korean. it made my heart smile. only family can celebrate differences with one another so casually without fear of misinterpretation. i wish we could all embrace the uniqueness of our fellow humans so genuinely.

i think, as much as anything, that’s why i keep coming back.

wow… i get long winded at 4am. you should take all of that as a really extensive compliment.

    …i need sleep. g’nite {i hope}.

I also agree that the Losiah adoption stories need to be in the 5. I found your blog BECAUSE of the adoption stories and continued reading because of it.

  24. amy 1 May 2008 at 5:31 am #

No, it was the post where the guy dropped his phone and you were in the stall next to him. I think that was definitely the funniest post I’ve read I don’t know if that makes it possible to be in the top five but that blog still makes me laugh just thinking about it.

  25. Eric 1 May 2008 at 5:42 am #

Definitely the one called Ragamuffin Soul Is Closed … http://www.ragamuffinsoul.com/?p=4811. yeah. that one.

  26. Rick 1 May 2008 at 5:58 am #

Without a doubt, the whole Losiah adoption process.

  27. The Domestic Goddess 1 May 2008 at 6:20 am #
