I noticed this has been happening more and more lately. I hope Twitter does something about it, although I don’t know how they’ll be able to differentiate between people who follow lots of people and bots who follow lots of people.
I personally detest these things! The other day I heard Comcast was searching for its name in Twitter and then was using its own account to Twitter people, “We hope we can change your opinion about Comcast!”.

It’ll fade away just like all those annoying thingamoppers you young people carry on about; the telegraph, the telephone, TV, Color TV!, that innernet thingy, IM’s, youhootube, movies! myfriendspace, and now twitter. bah!…er…I almost misspelled stuff. Thank goodness for http://www.spelltcheck.net! You’d think someone would build a spell checker into this stuff. (grin)
