Well, in one year (May 30, 2009), I’m getting married. So, I’m on the GND… (Get Naked Diet). So, I’m in! My fiancee and I have been running recently. From that and eating better, I plan to lose 60 pounds in the next 12 months!

    Starting weight: 240
    Goal weight: 180

  17. Anthony 25 May 2008 at 10:22 pm #

    Hey Carlos,

I attend Sandals in SoCal and I’m a regular reader of your blog. Since college I’ve gained about 20 pounds. Since high school I’ve gained about 40 pounds. Not all of it has been muscle. :)

My wife calls my stomach her pillow… I think that makes it clear.

I will checking in every Saturday with you on my blog and on your site.

    Weight: 181.5
    Goal: 160

    Good luck, bro.

  18. julia 26 May 2008 at 1:44 am #

  21. Michael Harrison 26 May 2008 at 4:30 am #

Los – my only comment is “you might be on crack” after watching this one. HA. Just kidding. Honor to meet you face to face at WIBO. By the way, if yours is a muffin top I must have one of those atomic bomb tops (you know, the mushroom cloud is huge. LATER

  22. Jack Hays 26 May 2008 at 4:35 am #

“Have you seen the muffin man? Muffin man? Muffin man? Have you ….” I’m in! Started 3 weeks ago and down 15 lbs. started at 260, 245 on Saturday!

    Started at 164,
    currently at 150.
    desired goal 140.
It is the last ten that always messes me up.

  27. Laura 26 May 2008 at 6:08 am #

I’ve been working on this hard core since mid-April (just before I ran the Country Music half-marathon). And I’ve lost 15 pounds already. But I am only halfway there …

    Current weight: 181.5
    Goal weight: 165

They say with each pound you lose, your pace will improve. I’m excited to see how much my pace will improve when I am at my goal weight!

  28. Chris S. 26 May 2008 at 6:43 am #

    I’m in! 220 going for 195

Thank you for making laugh out loud. It was the rated S that got me. I’m in too. I still want to lose 10lbs. 5 of them before our vacation in 2 weeks. Thanks for the challenge!

  31. TD 26 May 2008 at 7:00 am #

i’m in … i’m at 200lbs, goal is 180lbs. no marathon though, that would drive me crazy, i’ll start with a 5k and some weights.

  32. Jessica Shamburger 26 May 2008 at 7:21 am #

This is funny. A friend and I just challenged each other to see who will be the biggest loser. We weigh in today and my daughter is the judge and stats collector. My goal is 160. I don’t have my start weight yet. Our deadline is August 1 before I leave for Honduras.

  33. adam 26 May 2008 at 7:27 am #

    los, i’m in dude.

    i’m a step ahead (kinda)

i started this a while back:

    http://13point1.wordpress.com

to catalog my quest to run the thanksgiving day half marathon. i had never run before in my life before this.

and i got yo’ muffin top beat too. 302lb today, booya!

good luck, get ready to get whooped!

  34. Rachel 26 May 2008 at 7:44 am #

    I’m in.

My mom and I have been keeping each other accountable the last month (even 850 miles apart). My goal is to knock off 25 pounds by fall or so. For my own good, of course, and partly to alleviate some back problems. I shouldn’t have those at age 23.

Buh-bye Muffin Top. I think I already have some ideas for how to participate in these little “blog carnivals.”

  35. Rebecca Moon 26 May 2008 at 8:23 am #

did someone really call you ragamuffintop? that’s brutal.

maybe a couple of different skill levels and a couple of different distances. then get together for a healthy snack afterwards…

    who’s down?

  39. TLC 26 May 2008 at 11:07 am #

Does this mean I need to buy a scale? I don’t have a muffin top, but I do need to tone.

  40. polly 26 May 2008 at 12:47 pm #

In totally. Started at 555 1/4, gastric bypass, down to 203–goal of 165. Yes I can do it.

I swear, I SWEAR I AM NEVER coming back to this blog again. Man – those pants are SO tight – what are you thinking? Is that new Plumber chic? 20 years from now you are going to be singing like a woman and that’s a medical fact of what will happen! You know what I mean??? FACT. Loosen them up. I stopped 1/4 way thru – couldn’t take anymore.

  52. Scott 27 May 2008 at 5:07 am #

I was eating powdered donuts while I watched you “jiggle.”

I am ashamed of myself. I think I’ll cut back on the donuts — after just one more…

    Good luck, Raggamuffintop!

  53. chris 27 May 2008 at 5:19 am #

  55. AuntieB 27 May 2008 at 5:34 am #

I’m in! Current weight: too much. Goal: muuuuuuuuuch smaller!!!!! =) (I’m not sure of the actual numbers. The scales scream every time I step on – so I try not to as much as possible.)

Got lots of cool stuff coming up. I’d love to be smaller when these events roll around!

  56. gretchen 27 May 2008 at 5:59 am #

I just ran my first Mini Marathon in Indianapolis at the begining of May, I trained for 9 months….good luck with the 18 week plan :) !!!! It is an awesome feeling to finish and I only did a half marathon! Good luck!

  57. steve 27 May 2008 at 5:59 am #

Hey Los. I have had a weight-loss challenge going on over at my blog for the past two months. But I am definitely down to join yours too. The more accountability the better!

    Currently: 222.6
    Goal: 190

  58. Amy 27 May 2008 at 6:36 am #

  59. Robin 27 May 2008 at 8:41 am #

I’m totally in. This past Christmas I was at my smallest and healthiest: 125. Since then, I’ve picked up 7 pounds of muffintop somewhere, and am now at 132 (and I’m only 5’2″!) Not much, but I’d still like to get rid of it and get runnin’ again like I used to.
    Currently: 132
    Goal: 120-125.

  60. Tim 27 May 2008 at 10:27 am #

    Sure, I’m in.

  61. Mary in CO 27 May 2008 at 1:02 pm #

Count me in, brother Los — girls can have MuffinTops too! In TX we often called it DunLop Disease … as in “my tummy dun lopped ovah my belt buckle.”

I count today, 5/27, as DAY #1 of my personal RagamuffinTop Challenge. God willing, we will SOAR!

    Now: 182
    Goal: 140

  62. Mary in CO 27 May 2008 at 1:45 pm #

Los? I posted before hearing the whole video. I’m in for the de-muffin-ication but not the marathon. Am game for walking a Half Marathon tho.

Did you see this 18-week marathon program?
    http://www.halhigdon.com/marathon/Mar00novice.htm

I ran my first 26.2 in 1980, following the Honolulu Marathon Clinic Guidelines (9 months, 3 trimesters). Very sane way to prepare. 18 weeks? You LOLO, bro (crazy but cool)!

  63. Giant Idiot 27 May 2008 at 3:45 pm #

I am in. Got down to 230 last year back up to 255+ now. Want to get down to 225.

  64. Jay Lowrance 27 May 2008 at 5:26 pm #

I’m in. Trying for the seventh year to get back below 200.

    Current: 214
    Goal: 185

  65. Joni 27 May 2008 at 7:56 pm #

I was doing well last year and gained it right back. So, I’m in. Ick. I hate commitment. I’m in the middle of all sorts of cervical spine physical therapy and potential surgery blah blah blah but I read Polly’s comment and that inspired me.

Starting at 197.8(today’s weigh in on my fatblogger post) Ultimate goal is 135. But over the next 18 weeks? I’ll go for 165.

  66. eric 27 May 2008 at 10:41 pm #

Wow!!! lots of feedback on this one. I’m in yo… I went on a cruise about a month ago and put on 10lbs. Haven’t been able to get rid of it.

I’m the kind of guy that needs a goal/challenge to keep me going so the marathon sounds good, but what about a triathlon?

Last summer my buddy challenged me to a sprint tri. I think you could do it Los! I saw guys way heavier than you finishing the Tri. I only trained for about 2 weeks last summer and finished right in the middle of the pack…

    http://ericbeeman.blogspot.com/2007/08/is-430am-godly-hour.html

    Jew Can Do It!

    I’m at 178lbs
    Goal 165lbs

f.y.i. I actually stayed about the same weight when I trained for the tri, but I slimmed out a ton! People who haven’t seen me since the tri still ask if I’ve lost weight…

  67. eric 27 May 2008 at 10:51 pm #

18 weeks to train for a sprint triathlon? You can do it! Go for the tri!

Am impressed with your challenge and I will undertake the task. My goal would be to get to 200lbs. and then go from there. Thank you for your blog, it is entertaining and deep at times as well. Please include some scripture along with your comments about this challenge.

I should be in but I’m not so savy on the whole blogging thing. Not a techie, I don’t think I could download a picture. But….this might inspire me.

  78. Amy (Beyond JEMS) 2 June 2008 at 6:08 pm #

Carlos, Thank you for keeping us honest. I just caught this on Spence’s blog. I gained 80lbs with my twins (invitro, bedrest, long story) lost 65lbs but keep floating up & down with the last 15. I started running in March and went from the couch to a 5K in 4 wks. Now I’ve just signed up to do the Nike Half Marathon with Team in Training in San Fran in Oct. So I have two goals… Lose the last 15 lbs. and complete my first half marathon in Oct. On a side note, that crazy Dan Perkins & my marathon coach think I should target a sprint tri next year, but i’ll see how the first 3 go. I’ll make my official first post with a pic (yuck!) next Sat. Thanks Again! This is awesome!
