Team Whittaker’s Memorial Day
[see the rest of the pics here]
I have to admit. Since Heather got her new camera, I have studied the crap out of it and have fallen in love.
I have become…”that dad”.
It was a BRILLIANT day with the Phenix clan riding MARTA down to Centennial Park and lunch a Hard Rock.
Yours?
Los

I caught up on sleep and some reading (Crazy Love by Francis Chan) and then had dinner with parents and sister and bro-in-law. Pretty much an uneventful day – just the way I wanted it.
Spent the weekend in Chicago with Wifey and Maddy. 6 hour train ride back to Michigan. Put up some pics at mattbunk.com
I’ve been in that fountain in Atlanta. During the Olympics. And as odd as it sounds I remember I had a pig sandwich at that Hard Rock. Wow. 12 years ago and I remember what I ate. Is that weird?
Chilled w/the wifie & fam . . . did some vision questing … checkin’ in to see if I’m seein’ at least a glimpse of what HE sees in store for me
bbq at in-laws and watched a couple of good movies (”awake” and “evan almighty). the weather hasn’t really been good “outside weather”…kinda cold, so it was a lazy day. BTW, great pics!
Those pics are amazing clear!! So. . . the weekend. . . Sunday AM at Buckhead Church. Sunday PM at NewSpring. Home late night, so lots of sleeping today. AWESOME!
Those water shots rock! I love the details in the pics.! Fun day!
I visited a friend’s grave at Arlington. Heard the 21-gun salute up where the president was laying a wreath on the Tomb of the Unknowns, and wondered if he ever thinks about the mothers and children and sisters and friends who were standing alone, crying, in front of graves down the hill, far from the hoopla, and wondering what their loved ones’ sacrifices were for.
My day started with a groundhog day-like conversation with my Alzheimer’s mother and ended with my 15 year old daughter piercing her own nose. Just another day in paradise!
Great pics.
i encourage you to get a pro flickr account! it’s totally worth it.
You have a gorgeous family, Los.
We spent Sunday at the Marriott Grande Vista Resort in Orlando. It was fantastic!!
I saw these shots on your flickr and was a) greatly impressed with how awesome they are and b) jealous because it was rainy and dreary here. Again. Always.
I shipped my wife off to the Dom. Rep. (working on our ‘lay person’ ministry there), spent the day cleaning house and at the pool with my girls…learning that this Mr. Mom gig isn’t such a bad deal. Finished the day watching our Tampa Bay Rays win yet another game…who’d've thought.
Nice pictures by the way…but your next addiction will be with lenses…they make a difference too…and add to your creative options.
we went to a home (less shelter) called “The Garden” http://www.7bridgestorecovery.org and had a cookout with 50 women and 11 children. My 4 year old picked out toys she wanted to give to all the kids there (her idea) to make life better for them. We took a water slide 18 ft long by 12 ft tall (someone from our church gave it to my kids last year). It was a hit. check out pictures: http://luvbug.typepad.com/photos/the_garden/index.html
That camera is very good! We barbequed and bought the kids a slip n’ slide. Nice day.
Guitars. Sweet tea. Grilling. Swimming. The Bachelor (?!). Hanging with a real sweet guy I know and learning that he knows how to make explosives out of peanut butter and glass (he’s an army boy/former physics student). Oh and we saw MASSIVE clouds duke it out in the skies and one of the most amazing lightning shows I’ve seen in quite some time. Our Creator is pretty awesome.
I have to admit, though…I’m jealous that Karen’s kids got a slip ‘n’ slide. The welts and bruises afterward are worth one-too-many runs down those things. =)
*Bachelorette. But I don’t really care. haha I forgot to mention that I sat and played a GORGEOUS baby grand piano for a while in the loft at a friend’s house too.
Great shots Los! I see you’re figuring out the aperture/shutterspeed questions.
My weekend:
Friday and Saturday- Helped Jared Roman with lighting at a rap video shoot.
Sunday- Actually Pretended I wasn’t staff and attended Buckhead Church. Then drove around with the top down enjoying being outside.
Monday – Made a new laptop sleeve. (Leave me alone! Men can sew too.) Took inventory and reorganized my home/computers after a break-in at my house that happened on Friday.
It was a pretty eventful weekend, and no, I didn’t let the break-in dampen my spirits at all. I was actually able to find ways to be thankful for it.
what kind of camera are you using?
Ahh, spent Saturday morning at the Atlanta Zoo with the kids. The elephants were the hit of the day. Sunday was church and a lazy afternoon. Sunday night got a date with my husband who turned 30.
my son has those same boardshorts!
What camera are you using?
Went on a spur of the moment trip to Vegas…
With 13 kids.
Los, do you shoot NEF or JPEG?
how fun!! =]
my son has those same shorts! must be a so-cal thing…
