Top 5 Reasons My Job Is Better Than Yours

Posted on 11. May, 2008 by loswhit in Uncategorized

Roof-1-1

1. My boss twitters and strategically uses twitter to stay up to speed with the life of his staff.
2. My other boss makes fun of the word twitter but admits he probably will be twittering before he knows it.
3. Every member of my team could quit tomorrow and go make ridiculous amounts of $$$ somewhere else but they keep showing up here everyday.
4. The first thing Andy told me when I got this job is that his number one goal for me was that this be the best job I have ever had.
5. In 8 months of working here I have yet to wake up and not sprint to get there early just so I have a few more minutes to enjoy my job.

Give me the top 5 reasons your job is better than all of ours…

    sounds good, you hiring?

    Actually Depends which job you are asking about;

One of my jobs, I’ve helped bring the dead back to life, helped the poor sick and imprisoned, raced a police car down Ga-400 at over 100 mph in the middle of the night and got two days off for every day that I worked.

Top five reasons huh. Ok, well here goes.

    1. I don’t have a commute (no gas $$), work from home office in any attire.

    2. Work on the computer all day, easy to keep up with going’s on (not sure if that is a good one or not).

    3. Can schedule my own time (not sure if that is good either), don’t have to clock in/out.

    4. Days off are whatever I choose (which is usually never though), time during the day to do things without having to take days off.

    5. Scenery out my office window is incomparable to an office

Not sure this was a good idea, I think I came up with more than five that were irritating to me :)

  5. Joe Louthan 12 May 2008 at 3:51 am #

Apple-based Solutions Provider (fancy title for “We know Macs and we help companies switch over from Windows because we all know Macs are wonderful.)

I desperately want to go into vocational ministry. Even still…

My job is better than yours because

    1. I took more than a 50% pay cut to take this job (versus the other jobs being offered). I took the job because God told me to. First week being on the job, my boss gives me a pay raise. It wasn’t much but I was more than thankful.

    2. In that first week, my boss pulls me aside and asks, “You don’t want to be doing this. You are transitioning into something else? Just stay with me as long as you can.” My boss knows I am not going to be around forever and that is okay.

    3. We work with just Macs. Period. This is most significant given my extensive Windows and Linux experience.

    4. We can turn down jobs and clients.

    5. We have Beer Friday Meetings. Strangely enough, our Friday meetings have been the most productive.

I actually start my new career in July (high school biology teacher — students with learning disabilities and behavior issues… whew), but I’m gonna take a shot at what I think will be my top 5:

    1. Job security (not that it’s most important, but it certainly helps)

    2. Summers off!

    3. Staying young — hoping those high schoolers keep me young at heart

    4. Daily humor — I’m bound to get at least a few laughs each day.

    5. But, most importantly: student successes — I’ll be teaching students who have not really been “succeeding” or excelling in the past, so I can only imagine what it will be like to reach a student and what him or her succeed when someone else might have written them off as unteachable.

    We all have incredible jobs!
