First row, center. I’m there to listen. I don’t want distractions.

  2. anne jackson 22 May 2008 at 10:16 am #

    the one on the wall

  3. jaysten 22 May 2008 at 10:37 am #

I’m the sound guy, so I always sit in the back.

I guess that means I’m to cool for school?

  4. mike brennan 22 May 2008 at 10:41 am #

against the wall. but honestly it would be more accurate if it wasn’t a wall there but an isle.

  5. Erica Foster 22 May 2008 at 10:49 am #

Mid-center. I’m usually the one with the bring-it-on attititude…especially if it has to do with ministry. If I’m not interested in the topic, I’m too cool for school though.

  6. Josiah 22 May 2008 at 10:51 am #

hahah That chart is hilarious. I am definitely too cool for school..

  7. Linda Sue 22 May 2008 at 10:53 am #

In church two rows from the back DH usually ushers and that way he can come sit with me for at least a while during worship service. Otherwise – middle – like at movies or lectures. Also – back rows are closer to bathrooms – just in case anyone wondered HA!

  8. Andy Denen 22 May 2008 at 10:59 am #

Bring it on to the mid-center!!

  9. Crystal Renaud 22 May 2008 at 10:59 am #

depends on the conference, but generally i am against the wall. but there are times when i am a second-row sleeper.

  10. C.C. aka LorelaiCC 22 May 2008 at 11:04 am #

It depends. At church, I sent on a couch at the front of the room because I know my knitting during the service doesn’t bother anyone. At other meetings, I usually sit in the back room so as to not distract anyone with my aforementioned knitting. LOL!

  11. Elissa 22 May 2008 at 11:04 am #

In school I always sat in the “bring it on” section but in church I guess I’m “teacher’s pet” that’s pretty funny!!!

  12. Lindsay Best 22 May 2008 at 11:26 am #

Front and Center…i get distracted REALLY easily!!

  13. John Ireland 22 May 2008 at 11:26 am #

tend to be a mix between front row and mid-center; mostly due to less visual distraction closer I am to speaker.

  14. JudiFree 22 May 2008 at 11:27 am #

front and center! I’ve always known that I’m the teachers pet.

  15. Kyle 22 May 2008 at 11:35 am #

I have to be honest, I love conferences and seminars. Not sure why, but I do. I’m normally a Mid-center or a Second-Row Sleeper.

However, I can say, I’ve been to plenty of seminars that once I was in the middle I prayed to God(literally) that a seat would open up next to an exit so I could sit there for the rest of the weekend.

The one section I never played much with is the Teacher’s Pet section. I always thought the speakers would call me out on something or ask me a question.

  16. Scott 22 May 2008 at 11:36 am #

never thought of myself that way but I guess I’m too cool for school

  17. Mandy 22 May 2008 at 11:38 am #

3rd row (or so) so I can meet all kinds of new people, but usually closer to the aisle. I’m super short…I sometimes need to step out in the aisle to see. =/

  18. Simone 22 May 2008 at 12:09 pm #

Back wall, near the door. I was always taller than everyone else in class, so I got put at the back. It’s my place. Near the door, because if the instructor is lame, I need to get out of dodge without others noticing me. And, for the record, I was too cool for school.

  19. Rebecca Moon 22 May 2008 at 12:10 pm #

    against the wall, definitely.
as in, “i’m paying attention and taking notes. please leave me alone.” :)

  20. Reese 22 May 2008 at 12:10 pm #

I sit near the door because I’m claustrophobic and paranoid. I like it when I works out that I can be on the same side of the room as the door and still be about half way up the aisle. In high school I was a back corner/wall sitter, but even then always on the side nearest the door.

  21. stephen barry 22 May 2008 at 12:15 pm #

front and center. give it to me straight.

  22. erin 22 May 2008 at 12:48 pm #

i am a front row person but not bc of teachers pet. bc i cant concentrate. where do you sit??

  23. Tracy Edwards 22 May 2008 at 12:48 pm #

back, aisle. . . easy to get out!

  24. islandpastor 22 May 2008 at 12:50 pm #

LOL – Great diagram! I ALWAYS sit in the aisle midway to the back. I am claustrophobic so I need my space. :D

  25. TIM 22 May 2008 at 12:52 pm #

    ZZZzzzzzz. Huh? What?! 36!
    Oh, sorry. I was sleeping.

    (YAWN!)
    Whasthequestion?

  26. Mark 22 May 2008 at 12:53 pm #

I am the one out in the hallway catching up with people.

  27. Rick 22 May 2008 at 1:01 pm #

From kindergarten on, I was always the tallest kid in class. Like, by a lot. So, when it came time to line up for concerts, assemblies, etc…I was always back row, smack dab in the middle. Any class I’ve taken since then, all the way through grad school, I just naturally stayed in that place. Even in church, it bugs me to have to sit anywhere else.

  28. Texas in Africa 22 May 2008 at 1:12 pm #

I’m the professor. No, really. :)

  29. Molly 22 May 2008 at 1:23 pm #

I sit in the second row center. Any further back and my ADD takes over.

  30. Derek Sweatman 22 May 2008 at 1:31 pm #

usually behind a really big guy.

    DEREK

  31. beccity98 22 May 2008 at 1:33 pm #

At church always front and center. I guess that “teacher’s pet wannabe” is correct, cuz I always want whoever’s up there to notice me, but I guess I would also have to remove my invisibility cloak, cuz no one usually does.

  32. Rachel 22 May 2008 at 1:44 pm #

Mid-center, all the way. People always asked for notes if they missed class. (Yeah, kinda annoying.) Similar seating arrangement in church, as well.

  33. gbrad@mag 22 May 2008 at 1:46 pm #

6′3″ 290 I’m usually too large for any middle seats . . . front, aisle, or back where ever there’s the most room.

  34. 6YearMed 22 May 2008 at 2:15 pm #

    mid center, bring it on.

unless it’s optional seating for a long surgery, then on the stool nearest the exit in case i have to spew

  35. Lorin 22 May 2008 at 2:25 pm #

I definitely sit in the front row! I’m not a teacher’s pet, though. I just want to make sure that the teacher is the only thing I am paying attention to. It is too easy to get distacted if I’m not up front!

  36. Adrienne 22 May 2008 at 2:39 pm #

Church and classes I’m taking: midcenter
Department meetings and faculty meetings at work: BACK ROWWWW…get me OUT without adding to my to-do list!!!

  37. Marcus Hackler 22 May 2008 at 3:02 pm #

Front and Center – not because I’m a teacher’s pet (maybe I’m living in denial), but because that’s where I can hear the best.

  38. Whit 22 May 2008 at 3:24 pm #

Mid-center or so…I tend towards the back center because I am a little taller than most of my classmates.

  39. Tim 22 May 2008 at 3:40 pm #

    Mid-center, I’m a total gunner in denial

  40. Nick Blevins 22 May 2008 at 3:52 pm #

At WiBo I guess I would have been somewhere between “Bring it On” and “Too cool for school”. But since I’m not cool, it’s probably bring it on.

  41. cathi 22 May 2008 at 3:58 pm #

What a way to patronize us analytical minds!
I’m a professor and will certainly keep this illustration in mind w/ my students.
Furthermore, I’m an against the wall student…primarily b/c I need an outlet for the mac that’s attached to my lab, but I’m also sensitive regardless if I cry in public or not!

  42. sarah 22 May 2008 at 6:28 pm #

hey, no fair. i had to sit in the back cause i wasnt officially a paying conference go-er! i left you all the good seats ;-)

  43. The Domestic Goddess 22 May 2008 at 6:44 pm #

    Front and center.

  44. alicia 22 May 2008 at 6:49 pm #

always 3/4 or more towards the back. :) And off to the side. I want to be somewhere where I can escape easily. :)

  45. Nick 22 May 2008 at 6:51 pm #

    Mid-Center Bring it on.
I am intently listening and either blogging the seminar/conference or taking as many notes possible.

  46. Renee Garcia 22 May 2008 at 6:58 pm #

I think the question is, where do YOU sit?!
I sit by the door… always! haha

  47. Shanda 22 May 2008 at 7:07 pm #

I shift between bring it on and too cool for school. If I am kidless, it’s always bring it on.

  48. Ken 22 May 2008 at 8:09 pm #

depends….if I’m really interested and the topic is relevant to me-bring it on…sitting with Jason or Sunday night-too cool for school…if I just got off work that morning-sleeping, doesn’t matter where I sit

  49. Dana 22 May 2008 at 8:48 pm #

I sit as close to the door as I can…because my blatter is the size of a pea.

  50. Kristi 22 May 2008 at 10:03 pm #

Definitely against the wall. I want to be able to see everyone else (sitting sideways with back leaning on wall). Anywhere else in the room – I feel exposed.

Somewhere I read that most cheaters sit at about the third row, where they can hide behind the front row teachers pets who would never cheat! And the back row are usually just sleeping or the teacher is watching them too closely.

  51. Harry 22 May 2008 at 10:31 pm #

I vary between too cool for school and mid center.

  52. cindy 23 May 2008 at 5:01 am #

Against the wall. No attention, please. Plus I don’t like to have the whole room at my back (creepy) and if I’m against the wall, I can turn to the side and then it’s just the wall at my back. I know the back row would mean no one behind me but I’m certainly not cool enough for that section.

  53. randy 23 May 2008 at 5:46 am #

I like to site in the back corner way from the traffic of the people coming in to class (or what ever).

I could sit anywhere though, doesnt matter all that much.

  54. Terrace Crawford 23 May 2008 at 6:16 am #

Awesome hanging with ya yesterday. Very cool to meet you and glad you got to join us for lunch…

As to your post, I was apparently very ‘uncommitted’ yesterday. I sat near the exit all day — in case I needed to slip out.

  55. Maggie 23 May 2008 at 7:18 am #

Ooooh, I’ve always been front row center, but my excuse is that my eye glasses Rx is bad and I can’t see very well… maybe I am a closet teachers pet wannabe? Except in stats, I def sat right by the door…

  56. petey*crowder 23 May 2008 at 10:25 am #

Without a doubt, too cool for school.

It’s also known as Backrow Baptists, but I’m now a Presbyterian….

  57. TLC 23 May 2008 at 12:37 pm #

Depends upon the seminar. Often I sit in the middle, center. Sometimes, I sit at the back if I think I might slip out to head to another session elsewhere.

  58. jamey johnson 23 May 2008 at 12:39 pm #

Yo, I’d prefer to call the “front row” the “FRONT ROW HOLY GHOST ROW”…however, if we have to call it “teacher pet wannabees” row, well then, that’s ME all the way. Unless I’m PISSED OFF or TIRED then the back row is all mine baby!

  59. amyharris 23 May 2008 at 1:21 pm #

I’m a mid-center sitter. We currently sit in the last row at our church in order to be able to relieve the nursery workers of our children quickly. That sounds worse than it is.

  60. Heidi Reed 23 May 2008 at 5:54 pm #

    Mid-center — bring it ON! :D

  61. Esteban 23 May 2008 at 8:22 pm #

front and center, and I reject any insinuation of “wannabe” haha

  62. bryonm 23 May 2008 at 9:44 pm #

back row. but i’m not cool… i’m just late.

  63. lynse leanne 26 May 2008 at 5:22 pm #

I am a mix between closest to the door and the back row.

Depends on where i am. A new environment or if i am alone i am a back row person.

If i am in a regular place and i like who i am listening to i am a middle center.

I judge before i even know what i am listening to…horrible i know.

  64. billy 28 September 2008 at 2:48 pm #
