Creative Chaos // 14

Go HERE and HERE.for the rules and explanation on how to be involved in this post.
Every Thursday YOU write a post on your blog as to what creative element, secret, process, whatever took place in your life the past week or month, or year, or decade.
Music, Art, Video, Production, Scripts, Sermon Illustrations, Design, ect. You get the vibe.
This week’s entry

Today I want to introduce you guys to something my production team does to build and pour into their volunteers.
It is called 24. A 24 hour short film project.
Here is the description…
If you’re new to Twenty Four.. this event involves showing up on a Friday night to learn who is on your team of six to eight volunteers. Next you find out the parameters: mandatory prop, phrase, location, topic, etc. Then your team has 24 hours to script, story board, shoot, edit and turn in a five- to seven-minute film that is watched by all your family and friends. There’s judges, awards, popcorn, movie candy.. the works!
You can see some of the old videos from years gone by here.
Big props to my production team for pouring into our volunteers!!!
Your turn.
Chaos.
Los

Carolos,
Do you oversee Buckhead’s production teams?
I’m in process of revamping ours (for our student ministry program); I’d love to hear what works best for you…
that extra ‘o’ in Carlos looks…well, not right.
whoops.
Wow, 24 sounds cool… do you guys have some creative genius over there just thinking up new ways to do everything each week? Please tell me you grab some of these ideas from other people, I will feel much better about my creative self
We just ask Andy. He is our source.
That sounds awesome, I would love to participate in something like that.
And nice CC banners. I love seeing something different each week. Props to your peeps for designing these.
great idea. I’m working on building some more community on my team.

Thinking about my place in the worship of making: http://www.sojournmusic.com/2008/06/02/harold-best-exclusive-art-for-the-church-art-from-the-church-art-facing-the-church-recorded-at-sojourn-churchs-home-the-930-art-center/
Do you have volunteer editors as well, or does an editor from your staff assist the teams?
Great idea – I love it when volunteers are equipped for ministry!

I wish we had the time/resources/people, etc. to do a 24 deal. must be tons o’ fun!
All movies are created with iMovie and the iLife package. Each team is given two computers, some training, a camera, microphone, and the following guidelines. This year will be the fifth year we’ve done this, and it’s the first year we’re doing it at Buckhead Church. Also it has been in January in years’ past. We’re looking forward to warmer weather for outside shots. Other guidelines are:
- A phrase that must be used in the film… in this one, the phrase was “Pedro offers you his protection”
- A prop (in this case, a mexican hat)
- A place (a drivethrough window in this case)
- At least one extra
- Every person in the team must participate
- No copyrighted materials
I wouldn’t expect anything less from a fan of Aplle
Each year Apple runs an film festival with basically the same rules for high school & college students.
Great job finding something creative and doing something with it for the church!
heading to drop off car… call me. H
I saw this on the NP/Buckehead production blog a couple of weeks ago. I’m looking forward to seing what comes of turning loose Creatives in the ATL.
Luv, luv, luv the short film event. That’s what I call church community!
Longbrake is just plain cool.
Los, do you have a minute for me to email you about Creative Chaos? Don’t know if I qualify for the party.
Wow! What an amazing way to train and show your volunteers how much you love and appreciate them all at the same time!
I’m a little late to the party this week… This video was a promo for our Children’s service. We had a kid interview the leader… makes for great entertainment. This kid is amazing!
