Creative Chaos // 15

I’m out of banners. Make us vomit with your mad banner making skillz.

Go HERE and HERE.for the rules and explanation on how to be involved in this post.
Every Thursday YOU write a post on your blog as to what creative element, secret, process, whatever took place in your life the past week or month, or year, or decade.
Music, Art, Video, Production, Scripts, Sermon Illustrations, Design, ect. You get the vibe.

This week’s entry

You are getting a sneak peek into our new set design for this week.
Since Faith Hope and Luck we have been using vertical versatubes lined 3 high. This created a great array of options as far as a color palate for our lighting and staging guys.
What Jerad and the team have done now is take those same versatubes and created 3 horizontal rows.
This way the tubes are closer together and since they are LED’s we are able to use them for more of a video element as opposed to just a color element.
Stars, words, sun, shapes, they can all be seen and defined now.
Here are some pictures for your understanding…

I look forward to the art that will be painted on these tubes by my media guys.
I’ll be leading worship in front of those on Sunday.
I can’t wait.

Your turn…

Cool–I’m going to check these out. I think these are the same items they used for PASSING STRANGE on Broadway. It was featured in the last Live Design mag.

Thanks for the tip….makes my $1 WalMart fabric look pretty cheesy–but oh well!

    Los
Do you rent these? buy them? I couldnt find on the Element Lab site what the process of getting these? Distributor? Tell us!

Also–question? Do you rent most of your staging or own? I’d be interested to know. I know that Fellowship Church/Grapevine said it was cheaper to rent than to own.

    Thanks

Dang, I was really hoping I could start coming to church again. The “vera tubes” bake my eyes so I had to quit coming. Let me know when you get rid of these horrible things. (They do look really cool though).

I think I saw something like those at a Bon Jovi concert. The ones at the concert seem to move up and down like vertical blinds. Or maybe it was my imagination???

We are using blogging in a most creative way to help our clients grab more clients. Some are hip the the idea of blogs others it is greek, but either way they are packing a huge punch when it comes to getting new interest!

I’m always blown away by stage set ups like this.

The biggest change we make to our change is moving musicians around (they’re all in a circle facing in so you never know which side of the room the worship leader will face) and once a year when we bring up the good old baptism hot tub.

The lights sure do look fun!

cool. those look like giant popsicle sticks. that would be a cool creative project. Who can come up with the most interesting set design using only popsicle sticks!

Can’t wait to see the new stage on Sunday Los! I also can’t wait to see Andy’s new series!

  22. Meredith 20 June 2008 at 5:09 am #

wow! That is awesome! Your lighting guy is AMAZING! His wife must be really cool and creative too! ;)

Seriously though– I just need to brag about my hubby. He spends so much time researching and thinking about the set and how he can get the most bang for the church’s bucks while creating something new and fresh. He’s so creative and I admire that in him so much. I love that lighting is his way of worshipping God.

    You rock Jared!

I’m soooo late to the Chaos! Love the stage – we’ll have to check out that product. This week I posted the highlight video we did for our youth camp. It turned out pretty well – and that’s because 1) God showed up – no experience can be truly great unless He’s there… 2) Our youth staff did an amazing job planning, teaching, and molding these kids… and 3) our media interns (who volunteered) took great footage, came to the table with great concepts, and covered the camp experience incredibly well. My hat is off to them!

I’m obviously late, too. But I have finally uploaded some pictures of our interactive artwork by artist Larry Stevens. Check it out.
