How Can I Pray For You?

Posted on 10. Jun, 2008 by loswhit in Authenticity

If you have never prayed.
Rarely pray.
Always pray.
I’m going to be praying for the 5000 of you today at 4:30.
How specifically can I pray for you?
Carlos

We (my husband and I) have the desire in our hearts to adopt. We have a three year old daughter. I have no idea what specifically you might pray for, but your prayers in that regard would be a blessing.

For my empty spirit, and for me to seek Jesus again. I don’t know why for the life of me I have disconnected myself from him. I know I need him, I used to be so close to him, but for years I have been standing here, wanting but not seeking, needing but not asking, waiting in silence. Pray for me that God would do something, anything, to move me. That he would call me by name and I would hear him and answer.

    thank you for praying!

I have no problem praying for others..but I hesitate to pray for myself – other than in crisis. I logically know God loves me but I don’t “feel” that love. (might be a girl thing).

I keep people at a distance and then struggle with things like turning 40 on Friday and being single. I mean I know God has a plan but still..it feels abnormal to reach the age of 40 and be a single woman. I’m rambling. thank you again for praying.

    Thanks Los’.

Hey Carlos, I too thank you for praying… I am working on obtaining a visa for a mission to France. It’s a long process and of critical importance, so I need all the prayer I can find regarding this matter. Without the French government’s admission into the country, things are going to be a LOT harder… I know God will work it all out either way, but to get through this hurdle will be a HUGE blessing…. so your prayers are deeply appreciated.

Hi Carlos, this is Isma Martinez from Barcelona, Spain.

We started a new church focused on reaching the outsiders and not on keeping the insiders as almost every church is doing in Spain.

We know a lot of people in BC who are helping us and praying for us.

We need you to pray for us to find a leader for our church.

    Thanks!

My husband Robin and I have been trying to get pregnant for 4+ years now. And as much as I trust in God, its still very frustrating to me at times. Its like I feel broken or something. My husband wants to be a father SO MUCH, my parents want to be grand parents, and I believe I am ready to be a mother. We all want this but God has other plans. Please pray that I find some peace in this situation.

Hey man – I’ve followed your blog for a while but have never commented. I’m not sure what made me do it this time other than my selfish need for prayer. Please pray for a good job for my wife. We need her to work – she’s been out of work & looking for a job for about 4 weeks now – and nothing has happened. We want to believe God is in control of it but we won’t be able to pay bills for much longer on what we have now so we need her to work and work soon. Thanks.

  26. Amy Storms 10 June 2008 at 8:31 am #

This is my favorite post you do. :) Would you pray for my husband and me to have faith? Like, bold and courageous and don’t-know-where-our-next-meal-will-come-from faith? We’ve been Christians forever but are only now beginning to follow Christ, if that makes sense. And it’s pretty terrifying to not know if we have what it takes, or what He has in store. “I believe, help me overcome my unbelief” kinda prayer. For Amy and Andy. Storms, in case God needs our last name.

    Thanks!

I have decided to follow the call that God has placed on my life that I have been in fighting against for the last three years. I have begun to actively seek employment in a ministerial position and will be looking at my options for education as well. I would pray that his will be done and that I am open to whatever and where ever he may lead my family and me.

  28. alex mclean 10 June 2008 at 8:41 am #

Los, thanks in advance. For me I need prayer for two major things over the next couple months: Clarity & Direction.

  29. Joy 10 June 2008 at 8:43 am #

Please pray that I will know the correct path to take when it is shown to me….and for some peace.

The last 2 years have been a living “hell”. To sum up briefly… husband lost his job, in turn we lost our home, my husband found out he had cancer, he passed away last summer, my job is now relocating to Montgomery AL from Charlotte, NC.

Although, I am blessed with 3 wonderful children and to have been married to such a sweetie for 20 years!
Most important… I want to get over my anger issues with God. I know he has a plan.

  30. Nolan Bobbitt 10 June 2008 at 8:48 am #

Man, thank you for praying. I need three things: 1–Clear direction from God for my next “professional” ministry step. I am struggling with whether or not to plant a church. I thought that was where God was leading, but recent things have made me question that, and now I am “waiting on the Lord.” 2–I need someone I can truly be honest with and talk through what God has been taking me through. I don’t feel I can be honest with my Christian friends. 3–I just need a peace from God that He still loves me. I feel so alone in so many ways right now. I wish I knew what to do to “snap out” of this.

Thanks again.

    After reading this list,
I want you to pray that God will hear the cries of his people and will be faithful and speedy to them that petition him.

    Luke 18:7-8
And will not God give justice to his elect, who cry to him day and night? Will he delay long over them? I tell you, he will give justice to them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on earth?”

I still need a full time job…I’m struggling like crazy as a single mom of four and a job is insanely difficult to come by these days. Also my former father in law was recently diagnosed with inoperable liver cancer. I found out this morning it has spread and is worst than they thought. Thank you for praying for all of us! Sorry, but I have more than one (don’t we all!):

    1) Most importantly: That God will lift the veil so my 18 year old son will see Him and will be in heaven one day. And in the “today” we are going to sign him up for him to take his GED and I pray he passes so he start getting on with his life.

    2) That my husband will find direction and peace as he walks closer to God that has been so hard for him all his life.

    3) That I will be directed as I feel changes coming in my church life and also I’ve started a long journey of weight loss for the thousandth time, but with God’s help I will see it through to completion and help others.

    God bless you Carlos!

we are part of a church plant (npcc strategic partner) we moved to charlotte exactly a year ago tomorrow. we’ve had our house in florida on the market now for almost 14 months. not good, not good at all. pray that my husband and i will continue to have the courage to give more than we receive and that we’ll have clarity in what the next step will be. 2 house payments are a killer!!

    praying for you too!

Pray that my husband will have the courage and initiative needed to deal with some business things that have been left undone for nearly a year. Also that he and I would be able to communicate about it openly – it has been largely avoided this past year.

Praying that your anxiety will cease!

  53. yeidy 10 June 2008 at 9:36 am #

  54. Paloma 10 June 2008 at 9:43 am #

Thanks so much Carlos! I love that as Christians we are all connected and now strangers are praying specifically for one another!
I think for me it would be that I would learn how to overcome the fear and doubts about pursuing photography. I become frozen and inactive and that wont get me anywhere. Ideally, that God would lay out the plan plainly in front of my eyes and give me peace about it and the courage to follow it! And that God would use whatever skill I have with it to show people His love and the way He sees others.

Thank you so much for praying!

Thanks, Los! Eric and I will pray for your needs and for everyone on this list, too!

Ours is our adoption, the finances for the process, healing for my dad, and healing for myself. Oh, and we’re both struggling with taking care of ourselves with weight loss and bad eating habits and we need to really make that priority now that we’ll soon have a little one looking up to us!

I leave home (Miami) in 2 months and head up to N.C for seminary (for my M.Div), and then onto the mission field. I am intimidated to say the least, don’t know how it will all come together, and am sure – beyond a shadow of a doubt – that this is God’s will. I want to be bold and without fear, trusting Him to take care of the details.

#1- Hubs (Chris). He’s been doubting his call to preach in the last few months.

#2- the kids (12-18 yr olds) hubs & I work with on a weekly basis will “get it” – really get it!

#3- our church – that once the kids get it, it’s contagious. They seem a wee bit comatose.

#4 – me. Help with this weight loss thing. Making time to walk.

Don’t worry. I’ll be praying for you and all of the other requests here, too.

“The Lord bless you and protect you; the Lord make His face shine on you, and be gracious to you; the Lord look with favor on you and give you peace.” Numbers 6:24-26

    Hi Carlos,

Wow… this is a brave request. Thanks!

We’ve just had our third child, a beautiful girl. We called her Nadeche, meaning ‘hope’. It’s quit something to suddenly have 3 kids in the house. Please pray for my wife that she’ll find the strength and energy to care for all three of them. She’s terribly tired (just fell asleep on the couch at 7.30 pm) and needs renewed strength and energy and – most of all – she needs to know she’s precious in God’s eyes and loved by Him. She wants to do everything perfect and needs to remember it’s ok to make mistakes.

And ehm… drop me a not at michiel (dot) doetjes (at) gmail (dot) com if there’s something i can pray for you about.

Thank you so much Los for doing this. It is truly awesome to have you post this knowing not only you are praying for us but that others reading this post will choose to pray for us. I know that I will…I have already put it on my calendar/schedule to pop up for me.

    My humble requests:

    1. a new direction in the job area. He has told me to wait so therefore I need strength in my “wait” training. :-)

    2. a fresh new perspective on where I am to be in ministry (somewhere new) and my current ministry of drama/creative writer.

    3. That my son and daughter will realize our Lord’s amazing love that He has for them and wants them eventhough they not been the “best” people in the world.

    4. To continue to bless me with the sweet love of my husband, which He has done for 17 years so far come this June 15th.

    In Christ’s Love,
    Mish

Wow, thanks! A couple of things… my wife and I are looking to sell our house and move to Oak Ridge Tennessee where our church is (New Hope Fellowship). Pray that God will send a buyer for our house and that He would lead us to a new house. Also, pray that God would open the door for me to go full-time in ministry. Thanks. I’m going to pray for you as well… right now!

  98. Clay 10 June 2008 at 11:18 am #

Hey thanks Carlos for praying for us. We really need our house to sell in Dillon, SC. We moved to Greenville last June in a ministry change and our house has been on the market for a year now. If God doesn’t come through for us, then that other f word is imminent.

I am apart of a church plant in High Point, North Carolina, called Renaissance Road (r2). We are scheduled to launch September, 14 of this year. I would really appreciate you praying for our pastor Jason. He needs constant encouragement and support as he leads us during this beginning process.

Speaking of leaders, please pray for our President, Governors, and local leaders.

Finally, I have really been praying for a mentor to partner with as I continue to learn about church leadership, networking with other churches and their leaders, and separating home life from church life.

I need prayer to help me not be so afraid. My fear holds me back from accomplishing so much in this life.

  104. Dave P. 10 June 2008 at 11:39 am #

    Los,

Thanks for this. I need to trust God in all things. I need strength to keep going until He moves me. I hate my job because I know I was meant for something more, but no opportunities are open yet. Everyday I wake up just dreading the day ahead. I feel so lost and without any direction. So maybe the real prayer is that I seek God… I need what only He can give.

    Thanks man.

Oh Carlos, bless your heart, once again. And I do pray, every day.

I need prayers for guidance in making a decision about getting a single versus a double mastectomy; that the next CT scan will show even more shrinkage in the tumor in my breast and the two tumors in my liver; that I will face the next steps — stopping chemo, getting maintenance chemo, and having a mastectomy — with trust in God and strength and faithfulness.

Thank you and God bless you, Carlos.

And how can I pray for you, my brother in Christ?

I am the only one who is working as it would take my wife working to put 2 in daycare with our oldest in Kindergarten, so she works from home making custom purses and totes.

carlos I go to your church–buckhead that is. first, thanks for being you man. your creativity and passion to get folks responding to God in their lives is sooooooo encouraging!

I just got back from a life changing trip to Kenya and God turned my heart, spirit, and world UPSIDEDOWN. Just pray I carry what changed in my heart and spirit there throughout the streets of Atlanta. God really put a lot of direction and vision in my heart man, so pray I figure out what it is exactly He is pushing me towards in the coming months. I really feel how I respond to what direction God is pushing me into will have a lot to do with the direction my life takes for many, many years to come–so just pray I am more open to what God is putting into my heart more than ever and pray I pick up on where and how He wants me to leverage my life.

    you are awesome man!

I hit a woman in a motorized wheelchair with my car yesterday (not on purpose, it was an accident). She was okay, me not so okay. Still pretty shaken. She continued on her way to the store she was headed to. Pray that she’s still okay. Pray that I can get past this. Pray she doesn’t sue me, I have no money.

Or if not, that my mom will find the strength to separate our family from him.

  133. LeAnn 10 June 2008 at 12:56 pm #

I posted earlier but failed to mention a big request in our church. Our pastor’s 15 yo son, Caleb, is suffering from seizures or “episodes” and the doctors have not been able to figure out what is going on with him. He has some other health issues that are complicating the diagnosis. Please pray for Caleb as he continues to suffer from these and for healing for his body, his mom, dad, and brother, and for the doctors to be able to have the wisdom to figure this out and treat the illness. Thanks.

    Am I too late? :)
Mike and I went to the Assessment Center in WI in January. We are currently serving in a church in MN for a year before planting a church. Mike is currently fundraising and we’re having a hard time with pledges and finances. Please pray for encouragement and peace that we are on the right path and that the Lord would keep the fire alive in our desire to tell everyone they are never too far gone to come back to the Lord… just like we did.

Praying for you and your family as well tonight.
    Thanks,
    Amy

Thank-you
