Here are some comments from my LA Ink video on YouTube.
Man, when I watched this I was like, “what a badass pastor!”.If you read the second mos it says that you shall never get a tattoo if you belive in god and jesus! just so you know!
it’s up to you how you worship man. god isn’t going to strike you down for a tattoo. even if it is a sin and god doesn’t like it…he’s still going to forgive you. you just gotta ask for it.
he is a pastor … hilarious he doesn´t know much about his job cause the bible says that marks that will be made on your skin intentionally are god forbidden .. i also think tath is hilarious, cause i have never seen a pastor with a tattoo , but the tattoo is really cool
Thank you for the statement. That is exactly what I was going to type. What kind of pastor is this? He loves the world and needs to read the bible better. He is an idiot.
Read Leviticus 19:28-Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the lord.he almost lost his family to the church and thats why he got the tattoo to remember it?
what kind of bull**** story is that? you could at least say you were **** a nunwats the point in bitching weather god is real or not?
some ppl have their point and views which r different 2 others
i personally dont believe in religion at all, but i think if sum1 wants to believe theirs a figure watching over them which makes them feel safe and secure then thats fine.
after all thats all religion is
besides stealing money n Sh**
I just drop in there every so often to hear what the world has to say…
Los

Hey check out the site my pastor put together for tattoos and the Christian faith. The worship leader is also on that site, his name is Omar.

I think it’s funny how everyone knows everything. Also, how everyone knows what’s good for everyone else.
Don’t you love how far people will take stuff i think its crazy. I posted a picture on face book with the caption “God With Us” here http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=1133580&id=826720470
and I cant believe the commotion that it started
and hey I love the tattoo and I love the meaning behind it even more
Rich
im not any better, but i just love how we can hide behind laws set in Leviticus. I wonder if they eat pork?
Sorry for that fifth comment you listed, los. I was having a bad day when I wrote it. You know how it is.
I don’t know about your Bible, but in my Bible Leviticus 19:28 says,
“If thou wants to ignorantly criticize thou shalt at least use correct spelling and punctuation.”
I love people like this. Acting like they know the bible inside out…yet still they show their ignorance. People don’t understand that the “Old Law” like the stuff in Leviticus doesn’t rule us anymore…when the reason for our faith in the first place (the whole deal with Jesus coming and giving salvation…oh yeah, that thing), threw out the the Old Law. These people don’t READ the bible…they just “read” it. Blah blah blah…I could go on…but what’s the point. I think pretty much everyone here is on the same side anyways, lol.
wow, that’s some bad spelling and grammar!
and i guess they forgot about romans 14. they’ll get over it los
I love the quoting of the Leviticus verse that says “no tats” (my paraphrase) because the verse right next to it says don’t cut the hair on the sides of your head!
Ooppss! Looks like you are a double sinner
i just feel like if we are living under new testament law, then why should we throw old testament law in peoples faces? AND those people who like to be hypocritical and throw scripture out there as a way to justify their actions. as i recall there is also a verse, and while i cant state book, chapter, verse, i do believe it says to remove the log from your own eye before removing the stick from your brother’s.
if i was famous i would like to think people who criticize wouldn’t bother me and i wouldn’t bother reading what they write. i think they actually would and that i would read everything that is said about me.
does it bother you?
One Pharisee, who was an expert on the law of Moses, asked Jesus this question to test him: “Teacher, which command in the law is the most important?” Jesus answered, “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and most important command. And the second command is like the first: ‘Love your neighbor as you love yourself.’ All the law and the writings of the prophets depend on these two commands.”

You know… I might just have to file this one away for a blog post… it’s really too bad when we’re too busy seeing if everyone else is behaving like a christian to actually be one.
i’m convinced the Lord’s more concerned with my heart and how i love Him and love others than he is about my artwork…
Look, it’s very obvious that these are just people that like to see themselves cuss in print. Very web geek-cliche. You just gave them a good target for their 3am break from porn surfing.
Just goes to show that we need to reach out to people more than ever. and how people who think they know the Bible are still so so lost. But all you can do is love them and pray for them.. and just be a witness for them..
I wish someone would freaking read Revelation 19:16.
Speaking of Jesus, “On His robe and on His thigh was written, “King of Kings and lord of lords.”
That’s a tattoo people. On Jesus!
Oh! I saw that episode long before I started reading this blog! Neat-o. People should keep reading the Bible past Leviticus, and then see where that gets them.
I agree with every word those naysayers…say. Tattoos are wrong! Eh…not really, but hey figured everyone was being so positive Los.
I will say it is hard to take criticism from people with horrible punctuation and spelling. That is my opinion, weather I am right or wrong! Ha. (yes, I know I spelled it wrong…that is how I roll!)
Los,
Wow, what a flurry of responses! I saw the LA Ink episode and thought it to be one the most missional things I’ve seen on TV in a while (I read your earlier posts about how they took a very small sliver of what you said for the story, but that is TV). As far as the Hebrew Scriptures disallowing tattoos, that is true, but as stated earlier we are no longer under the law (read Galatians for crying out loud), but I do think it is important for Christians to understand what Jesus meant by “fulfilling the Law” He did not “throw out” the old law, as someone stated in this thread earlier. On the contrary, it is Jesus who said that anyone who does away with even the slightest part of the law was condemned. What Jesus did say is that he came to bring the Law to its intended purpose: that it pointed to him and what he would usher in: the Kingdom of God here on earth. The OT Law is vitally important to Christians, faith in Jesus makes no sense without it. The important reality for followers of Jesus is to use his example: whatever of the OT law Jesus repeated, acted out, etc are still in force for us today. Jesus spoke about lust, murder, divorce, and more in the gospels. Those commands are still in force for us and are covered by loving God and neighbor. Using this model keeps us from quoting OT commands that we like while completely ignoring the ones we don’t.

erinj – There are people all over the web who can’t stand me. They dont bother me at all though. I feel bad for them more than anything for missing out on the love that is Ragamuffin Soul.
If you don’t mind, what did that cost you? I gotta imagine that shop charges top shelf fees. Just curious.
Maybe I should think twice about getting my TAT?………………………NAH! Lets do it!!!!Jesus is rock’n a tat of his own.
16 And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” REv 19:16
Thanks Randy for posting the link to Sacred Ink. That was really great. Personally, I have never had a problem with Christians having tattoos. I think that each person has to be comfortable with themselves and has to work out their own relationship with Christ. But, I was raised in a strict Southern background and when I started getting tattoos, my mother was sure that God disapproved. I think that even though I believed in my heart that it was okay between me and God, there was always that nagging because of my background on myself. This information has helped clarify things for me. I am 36 years old, it is nice to finally get that monkey off my back!
i always enjoy the fact that the people who know everything and always call others out have the worst grammar and spelling…just funny to me
There are a bunch more at http://www.mychristiantattoo.com
Sinner sinner sinner (to nanner nanner nanner). ROFL! People just bein’ people. I like your tattoos and I like a lot of ppl’s tattoos.
Opinions are like butts — everyone has one.
First, when are you going to stop the shameless self-promotion.
second, is it pompous to feel like I’m “above” having to go use traditional arguments that fight for tats? Because I don’t feel like arguing this bs with fundamentalists. Not today, not ever.
Don’t feel bad. I’m a worship pastor, and I have a lot of tattoos. I mean a whole lot. My right arm is totally sleeved and the left arm is halfway there. Oh, and there’s this big thing on my back too. People stare and ask if I was drunk. I jsut smile and say no. My tattoos are based on scripture. They give me a great chance to talk to people because everyone wants to know what they mean, especially the Hebrew words I have on each of my arms. People ask, and I have a chance to share God’s story in my life. I wonder if God doesn’t like my tattoos, even if they are the only that guy at school talked to me who received Christ in that same conversation? Just curious.
Sinner.
Ha.
@Carl Thomas
there are some awesomely bad tattoos on that site!
how does Jesus feel about BAD Christian tattoos?
geez..that’s some harsh stuff..you would’ve thought you committed murder or something..this is the kind of stuff i think Jesus hates..bickering about crap that doesn’t matter. does having a tattoo negatively affect your personal relationship with the living God? i don’t think so..and people need to quit pointing the finger outward and begin to point it inward.
when i first became a christian i went to a church that believed tattoos were a sin..it sucked cuz i have a few. and people made sure i knew it was wrong, so i felt ashamed. that’s a bunch of religious crap.
God looks at our hearts.
I just finally went back & watched the LA Ink episode. Absolutely cool. I got my first tat this spring – as a 36-year-old mother of three and a church counselor. My poor dad spent the next day with his Bible stressing over how far his daughter had strayed. I think it’s a beautiful form of testimony.
Ok so this is the first time I have been able to watch the LA Ink video on YouTube. Los, I love your tattoo. I completely understand what you meant about almost losing your family to the church. I have a tattoo I got in remembrance of the baby I miscarried in December. You can see it on my site: http://www.candidchatter.wordpress.com. Click on “All Things Tattoo” at the top right in the blue bar. Great, great job, man!! I am so happy you chose to spend more time w/your family and that Heather was able to wake you up to her pain. Awesome!
Dude, if you are sold out to Jesus Christ, why all the tattoo? Why the scull on your tee-shirt? We are in the world, but not OF the world, my friend. Our hearts are now tatooed, not with ink, but sealed by the Holy Spirit.
Don't let the modern day Pharisees speak their rules into your life. I eat pork and I never made my wife leave town during her monthly, yet these rules are in the same OT writings. We are tempted, as church leaders, to pick and chose the rules we want to enforce and ignore those that might impact our personal space
I´m from Norway and saw your thing on LA Ink yesterday (7. february 2009) and you rock!
Just want to say that that is probably the most evangelical moment on the history of Discovery Channel! Nice!
WOW! You are a brave man treading waters with Jesus on your heart and now sleeve
There are many churches and groups in the wordl who are kind of more into talking about staying real and keeping it real with Jesus than whether or not you wear a cap at service or if you have a tattoo.
SO TO ALL THE LEVITICUS SCRIPTURE QUOTING LOVERS:
Stop eating pork, hotdogs, crawfish, shrimps and then yes I will believe you are not hipocrites.
Peace! and
keep on loving the lord tattooed or not.
