Are We There Yet? // Part One

I am being inducted into what I like to call Season 3 of fatherhood.
Season 1 is your first diaper.
Season 2 is your first emergency room visit.
Season 3 is your first multi day road trip with more than one child.
I would like to brag that I have been able to avoid this season until now.

Are we there yet?

    a good friend of mine says that ‘when your kids are that young, it’s a family trip, but not necessarily a family vacation…’

    I’ve knocked out all 3 of those seasons of parenthood. What’s season 4, the next major step? I say it’s dealing with all the issues about sex – anatomy, appropriate & inappropriate seeing of body parts (especially a fun issue with both boys & girls in the house or over for a visit), appropriate conversations about sex based on what kids learn from their friends, etc.

    By the way, season 4 is just as painful as seasons 1-3 but lasts much longer.

    We drove from Sacramento to Nashville a few years back. 4 days in the car with a 2 year old and a 9 month old. We arrived different people.

    Los, I’ve got a 8 month old and I’ve yet to try and do an overnight trip with her yet.

    I totally get the “he has trouble sleeping in a room with other people” thing.

    Rookies! Picture this: 8 weeks. 11,000 miles. Minivan and popup tent trailer. 2 kids. 35 states. And, years later, we’re all still on speaking terms! You’re just getting started.
