God Can’t Show Up In TWO Songs!!!
So I just got done leading worship this morning and we sang for 12 minutes.
12 minutes.
2 songs.
WHAT!!!
And guess what?
It was amazing.
I’ve heard an excuse come out of my own mouth many times…”People need more time in order to connect in worship than what we give them!”
If a worship leader is prepared in their own heart to lead the church in 2 songs, then the church can connect in 2 songs.
In 1 song.
In NO songs.
I prayed the last 4 mornings for the people who were coming to have hearts ready to give and receive from the Lord.
We sang My Glorious and The Stand.
In 12 minutes, obedience was achieved.
And it felt a lot better than the 5 song set we did a few months ago.

Dude…I sense our worship culture changing, too. Glad you were sent here to show us that God has always been here; we just needed to allow Him to hang out with us.

maybe my first comment here… but worship is always how I feel closest to God. It DOES bring me to obedience and authenticity, especially when I begin singing my own words from my heart. I’m sure it was an amazing morning for many…
I love me some worship music. I love to hear the congregation singing together, with tears of joy streaming down my face. Community worship is beyon beautiful. I love our NOrthMetro Church and I love our worship team but you make me want to come visit your church sometimes
Awesome. I love hearing stories like this, I have worked in a few churches that were so closed minded about time and style of worship. Glad to hear the positive, keep it up!
very true. We’ve experienced the same thing at Flamingo.
I agree. The thing I think that people often miss is that God lives in US and so when WE show up He shows up. And by showing up I don’t just mean being physically present but rather being connected to our hearts and “bringing what we got” to the table. It’s easy to have confidence that when we bring it to the table we bring HIM to the scene. And like the word promises…then “Nothing IS impossible.”
Speaking of that phrase we sang Healer by Hillsong this morning- wow…awesome song.

I watched West Angeles COGIC on streaming faith today after I got home from my church. Their former worship leader was in town and she did ONE worship song for 15 minutes. she kept modulating and exhorting, and when she finished the entire church was worshipping. (this is a church of like 10,000 a service). I feel like God heard that pure worship from his people as a corporate body and just came down and met them. I watched in awe.
It is amazing what God can take when we submit to Him.
imagine – us getting out of the way of God and Him doing something completely and totally amazing.
It is almost feels as if it’s supposed to work that way.
I love it.

When everyone sang “With arms high and heart abandoned
In awe of the One who gave it all” God lifted my hands straight up in the air. It must have been Him because I would never do that Never happened before in “Big Church”

I was in a class last week with Paul Baloche and he talked about that .. he basically said we should do LESS songs, and have some breathing room, space to develop, to freely worship, to let people actually connect w/ what’s going on.
We actually cut our 3rd song during the 2nd service at SSCC today, and I didn’t miss it at all … instead of cramming 3 songs, we just spend more time on “Jesus Paid It All”, and it was amazing!

Dude, I just got back home from the 6pm service and I have to say it was amazing. I’m the production director at a church plant, so I rarely get the chance to just stand back, forget everything and worship. I just wanted to say thank you for spending the time in prayer and preparing yourself to lead.
Praise God that your fellow worshipers were able to surrender in that way.
I may be late to this party but PLEASE tell me what you meant by “obedience was achieved.” I have a theory about what you mean but I’d rather not guess.

Two Songs! Praise the Lord!
Awesome story, crazy thing is we did 2 songs today! We felt like the Lord was leading us not to mess around and enter His presence. The messages have been on prayer in a series called “Point of View” and we have been experiencing a new refreshing of the Holy Spirit in the services. When God is moving it soooooo important that we do not place Him in a box called the way we do things. We need to stay open to what He wants, not what our preference is! Love this discussion!

Hey Carlos! it was great to worship with you at Buckhead this past Sunday and to get a chance to talk some afterwards. God is doing something special at the Buckhead Church and the worship rocks with passion. we’ve got to stay connected… come to Raleigh sometime bro.
I have a real hard time with the phrase “God showed up”. I don’t think God does show up, since he’s everywhere all of the time. Saying He showed up indicates an absence of Him in the first place. I think a better phrase is “We finally tuned in to His presence”.
