If You Love My Family
Then you are going to love my blog the next 6 days.
We are cramming my 2, 4 and 6 year olds in the Hyundai Santa Fe and driving to VA.
In order to not go crazy, I am most certainly going to spend massive amounts of time editing videos and allowing you to suffer experience this road trip with me.
In all honesty it is my first “road trip” with my kids. I feel like I am about to graduate into dad hell… ARE WE THERE YET?
Luckily, the in laws are going to be caravaning behind us.
That means when Heather has had enough of me having enough of the kids I will jump in their ride.
The trip starts in 2 hours.
Atlanta to Ashville.
At night.
Pray for us. For my children.
That they do not feel the thunder of my backhand swinging over the center console.
And pray that it goes by as fast as my last Saturday…
La Vida Loca.
Los

That’s a great video! I love that the whole family got involved with chores! Enjoy the drive…
that sounds exciting. what could be more fun than an overnight roadtrip with your whole family?
watching you guys eat was a little crazy…
That’s a lot of grass to cut. Have fun on the road trip.
What’s with the video blogging community posting so much lawn mowing time lapse?
Love the video. Good luck on the va-ca!
I think this is the coolest video you’ve ever made.
My parents paid us $1 if we didn’t say “Are we there yet?” as we drove from CA to CO each summer. Totally worked for us!
Oh my. A road trip. Love it. I can’t wait to hear and see this go down.
Love the video. I love the random looks from you and the eating cracked us up.
Have a safe trip.
road trips at night are very smart with kids, when we drove to texas for my sister’s last Christmas, we did the first 1/2 at night while the girls slept & it kinda worked. just make sure you have lots of coffee. looking forward to the next 6 days…your family posts are my favorite. be careful.
sorry los, i have to say you are a rookie dad if you’ve never done this. And just to Virginia? no big deal, but a good starter trip.
Let me tell you about taking my three children from alabama to arizona the first time – 6, 4 and 4 1/2 weeks old. yes. in a car. in july. it was 122 degrees. i was nursing. there were bathrooms like maybe every 150 miles. it took us 3 1/2 days one way. what were we thinking?
we were thinking that we couldn’t afford plane tickets for 4 people to go with daddy and i was thinking (having just had a c-section) “you’re not leaving me here with three kids and go away for 6 weeks”.
i’m not sure i chose wisely. but we survived!
I cannot imagine doing this.. driving from Vegas to Riverside (not long at all) was bad enough with Kaia screaming for 2 hours straight.. She hates the car – so I would rather kill myself then do this. Good luck!!
Good luck and have fun brother. I remember roadtripping to VA as a kid, but it was from Philly. The Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel was cool, and we did Colonial Williamsburg, King’s Dominion, and Busch Gardens.
Hey Los,
Panama Canal Zone gal here…
Another idea is let the children hold a map and navigate, also teach them how the mileage sign posts work and let them count down each mileage post across each state.
When you hit VA, if you don’t have plans to visit specific churches you are welcome to visit XC (in northern VA). Nothing like where you are at (lol), but authentic and growing. Plus, I’d love to meet you and yours. Hit me up on e-mail of facebook, if you might be interested.
Have an awesome trip…
I LOVE your time lapse stuff!!!
I wish I had a family!
I love the video. It feels like as a mom that’s the speed I move at most of the time. I love the kids flying by all the time!
yeah good luck with that. All I can say is…I wish we had those portable DVD players back in the day. woulda saved me soooo much hassel!!! but smart move doing some of the trip at night…..good luck and have fun!!
Have fun. While I was watching that video, all I could think was, “He’s gonna mow that kid! he’s gonna mow that kid! Watch out little one, he’s gonna mow you!”
It’s intense when it’s that fast I guess.
I’m weird. I don’t deny that.
Loved the video, loved the song! Who would’ve thought Phil Collins would make a good “BooDaddy” song?
no. no. no. you don’t ride with the g-parents when the three precious are on your last nerve…you switch cars…let the g-parents spend quality time with the gran-babies they never get to see…and you get private wife hang time!
Oh just wait! As a new reader I am unsure of whether or not I love your family.
All I have to say is, this is cake. They are young, maybe annoying, but young. You are still the boss. I hope you are still blogging in ten years so I can hear about the teenage years. My dad used to pull over on the side of the road and tell me to get out, lol. Savor these trips!!
this video was awesome! you guys have no clue who i am, but your family makes me smile! i am new to the blogging world. my husband got me addicted…
I love watching the time lapse meal. Crazy!
I’m glad my Saturdays last longer than a minute and thirty-seven seconds!
yeah! rock that phil collins song!
Hey Lawnmower Man, You missed a spot!
