Twitter To The Next President

Posted on 28. Jul, 2008 by loswhit in Authenticity, Creativity

So we just finished our 3 week series called Letters To The Next President
It was a great 3 week series of looking at leadership principles from the Bible.
Here was the Title Package from yesterday where we went to Star 94 and had Cindy (faithful BC attendee) post the question on her show…
[flashvideo width="426" height="240" filename="LTNP-WEEK3-TITLE" filepath="rtmp://cp20979.edgefcs.net/ondemand/fcs.northpointcc/bc/blog"/]

So.
Since I know none of you have written a letter since 1992…
If you could write a Twitter to the next president, 140 characters or less…
What Would You Say?

    140 characters or less:
You’ve been given the privilege and responsibility to lead – so lead. Some will follow blindly – please don’t lead that way.

Financial independence precedes sovereignty. Financial dependence is chosen slavery. This is madness. The ends do not justify the means. Balance the budget for my daughters.

Don’t make decisions based on poll numbers. The greatest leaders did what was seemingly the most unpopular. & the world was better for it.

First, forget the lame reasons given for why the national average for a gallon of gas is $4.20. Next, explain to me why we pay $4.45 per gallon on a US MILITARY INSTALLATION!

Remember the proper role of government in society – that role being government isn’t God, and likewise shouldn’t act as such.

Get government out of most of my business. If you make a wrong decision don’t spin it. Make it right. Change your mind if there’s a better idea.

Free and Excellent Education – including college education – is the great equalizer and predictor of the future of our nation.

“Laws for the liberal education of youth, especially for the lower classes of people, are so extremely wise and useful that to a humane and generous mind, no expense for this purpose would be thought extravagant.”

    - John Adams

Please do us a favor and fulfill some of the promises that lead people to vote for you. And whatever you do, do NOT bury your head in the sand.

  41. Gabriel McGee 29 July 2008 at 1:48 pm #

Hi. my name is Gabriel. I would just like to say that, although I already know that I do not agree with all of your views or ideas, I respect you as the primary authoritative figure in our country. I honor you for the tough decisions that you make every day, although I might not agree with the outcome of said decisions. With that said, the middle class is shrinking and that should NOT happen. Also, How come we pay over four dollars on a gallon of gas. now, cut the crap load of excuses, why does Venezuela pay 12 cents a gallon? you do realize that is about 35 times less than what we pay. Don’t make excuses, just fix it! that is why you were elected into office, to fix things! Also, Don’t end the war in Iraq, finish it.before I go, please apologize to the world for, well, America’s Numerous mistakes!

  42. Gabriel McGee 29 July 2008 at 1:49 pm #

Sorry, I didn’t mean to write that much!

  43. Clay Harryman 29 July 2008 at 4:02 pm #
