Post more vids of the actual events if you can. Awesome idea.

I find it interesting that so many old worship songs were derived from bar tunes. Speaking the people’s language is the only way to reach them!!

dude- anytime the church goes outside the walls i’m down with it.

    rock on buckhead!

Unfortunately, I didn’t make it out last night. My wife was sick.

This is a FANTASTIC idea though!!! I love that I belong to a church that is willing to be sent into the city for the sake of Jesus. Thanks for what you do Carlos!

Some good ideas always coming out of buckhead, can’t wait to see what’s next

Dude….this is off the charts awesome and exciting! I absolutely love it when I see churches going outside of their walls or buns, etc…. to reach the unchurched. Hey, ministry is “risky” business and I LOVE IT!!! Thanks for taking it to the streets and I’m praying for you guys!

Man that is SO awesome!! You guys are always coming up with something amazing over there in the ATL! Rock on.

    Cool idea.

That Seagram’s bottle reminded me of my earliest encounter with alcohol, and it didn’t end up pretty.

Please tell me you guys didn’t intentionally line up those bottles behind you for effect, because if you did, that would be über-tacky in a “look at me, I’m a hipster Christian” kind of way.

    Good stuff.

    Carlos,
I love it man. Church folk getting out of the building and into the community is what needs to happen.

    Brilliant.

I also love the risk taking attitude – it might not “work” and we’re ok with that.

    I think it’s cool man.

One question, will the community know that the BMP is “sponsored” by Buckhead Church? Are you going to promote that or underplay it?

  14. Los 15 August 2008 at 9:23 am #

Todd. If they ask. But all we are doing is filling the bill with great musicians and great songs. The conversations can go where our people take them.
No promotion of Buckhead Church done by us.
    At all.

I reread my comment and realize how snarky that came of sounding – my apologies.

Props for making a go of an outside the box idea.

And stay away from the Seagram’s.

Love the idea Los. Your team never ceases to amaze me.

I’m gonna add a little something extra to my prayers as your team ventures into this…

…God I pray that the church doesn’t fill all the seats!

Since you all posted where you are all going to be (ahead of time)…I hope the venue regulars (the ones we’re trying to reach) don’t start telling their friends…”hey, you know those christians are coming tonight!!”

Be sure to add a few “surprise visits” too.
This project will be as awesome as its strategy.

    Go Buckhead.

d: We just put two chairs in front of the bar. That’s all. No bottles were arranged. Nothing intentional in the camera shots. And no animals were harmed in the filming of this video.

wow.. kinda wish i lived in atlanta now!

  21. jarrodmorris 16 August 2008 at 5:49 am #

This is great. Mission’s through music!

  22. Fred McKinnon 16 August 2008 at 7:09 am #

Super cool – we did this for a while down on SSI at Rafters Blues Bar down in the village, but we screwed it up big time. We weren’t all on the same page – some of us wanted to do worship, some wanted to have church, some wanted to play non-worship (what exactly is that) …
Bottom line – we weren’t clear on vision, target, or strategy, and it was pretty stinkin’ awkward.

Sounds like you have clear vision and leadership – should be amazing. I’ve no doubt that if Jesus were still here on the earth, he’d be there!

Love it! Brilliant! Can’t wait to hear how it goes.

AWESOME! We have been doing something similar with The Andrew Landers Project (http://www.andrewlandersproject.com) that is more of a “band” approach. Andy is our worship leader and ALP is a ministry of the church (http://www.calvaryonline.org) in which we have been getting out into the community to meet people where they are. We feature a lot of well-known musicians from the area and have gained quite a following on our own.

People are looking to fill the void. They have been drawn in, and lives have been changed. It has been awesome!

I believe God will use BMP in a big way. We will pray it does! Great work!

I hate to have to bring this up, because I’m really looking forward to playing but…

    My name is spelled “M-E-G-H-A-N”.

Up there on the flyer someone didn’t spell my name right.

    That makes me sad.

I thought you guys knew me better than that.
