Buckhead Music Project // Night One

Posted on 06. Sep, 2008 by loswhit in Music, My Church

So the Buckhead Music Project.
We had night one of the “project” on Thursday night.
My team worked their tails off to get ready for this night.
We wanted the first night of our little bar tour of Atlanta to run as smoothly as possible.
The production guys showed up and installed the system. In ear mixes in a club like this is not a normal thing. But it made the mix better than any I have heard in a club before.
Angie Weaver, the tour manager, lined up everything so that the evening went great.
When I got there around 630 everything was ready to go.
At 8 there was a line out the door.
At 8:45 we jammed.
Clarissa Rivera Gibson gave soul a whole new meaning.
Moxie Davis Worship made singing to God look like a marathon workout.
Chrystina Fincher’s voice was HUGE!
Conversations happened.
People invited their unchurched friends.
Relationship with Vinyl was solidified as a WONDERFUL one.
The bar manager is coming to church on Sunday.
The room was packed.
The club/bar was more than taken care of.
The artists were more than taken care of.
I was introduced to dozens of people that night as…”a pastor at my church”.
I know plenty of signed bands that would have died to play in front of a crowd like that.
It was an overwhelming success.
Not once was “Buckhead Church” spoken from the microphone.
The love of Jesus Christ was shouted from the microphone all night long.

Great Pictures! Will there ever be video? I’d love to hear some stories of what happened…in the crowd…with spiritual conversations.

I’d like to know who comes to visit Buckhead as a result!

    Looks like an awesome night!
Too bad Atlanta is 4 hours from Charlotte :(

What a blessing. Thanks for being willing to get out of the Christian bubble and reach folks where they are – not where *we* want them to be.

What a witness for humility, love and a true heart for the unchurched.

I think you made Jesus smile :)

looks like a fun night, my father would had a lot to say about this. He spent most of his life in a bar after the hrs. of 5:00 never missed a day of work for over 20 years. and i think he was drunk 24/7 for most of my childhood. Thankful there are people like all of you. Plaining seed.

Your dad spoke @Mag @ all 3 services this morning, with his back bothering him and the LORD used him in a powerful way. May GOD continue to shower you and your family with blessings. He mentioned his blog on being an immigrant and mentioned how you put it on your blog. :)

so i was just curious… anytime we’ve had a local “christian” artist or a group of local “christian” artists do a gig at one of the more established venues in our town, we seem to have one problem… once a big group of people who go to church together get in a room together, all of the drinkers suddenly become non-drinkers, so regardless of turnout (which can be quite good), the club owners are hesitant to invite the artists back because they can’t make any money at the bar. this kinda shoots the artists in the foot. it makes it pretty difficult to impact the culture if the club owners won’t have you back… did you guys run into any of this sort of thing?

    This night was crazy!

It is events and things like this that reinforce my decision to move to Atlanta and join in the movement of Jesus here.

    Thanks Los!
