Creative Chaos 28 // Baptism Chaos
Go HERE and HERE.for the rules and explanation on how to be involved in this post.
Every Thursday YOU write a post on your blog as to what creative element, secret, process, whatever took place in your life the past week or month, or year, or decade.
Music, Art, Video, Production, Scripts, Sermon Illustrations, Design, ect. You get the vibe. Just link back to here from your original post and fill out the form below.
So at Buckhead Church we pride ourselves in giving Jesus our best. In every beat of our heart.
Yet sometimes our best comes in the most unrehearsed of moments. Take this past Sunday for example. Simon was to be baptized.
We have all baptiseees give their testimony on video before they are baptized.
That way they can get across the message of hope Christ has placed in them clearly.
Simon took 2 DAYS to film his 2 minute video.
He was mortified. Nervous is an understatement.
Time came to show the video.
Nothing…
Then it played…
No audio…
Then it played again…
Audio this time, but no video…
The crowd was beginning to mumble…
Then video but no audio…
You get the drift.
Luckily our pastor Jeff Henderson was baptizing him and he was money.
Jeff waded through the uncomfertableneds of 3000 pairs of eyes staring at them and moved on with…
“Well Simon, I know your story…”
So in the middle of all the chaos somebody yells from the crowd at about 1:02 in the video…
“TELL US YOUR STORY!!!”
And the rest was history…
Watch below how God shows up when our lame equipment does not…
Your Turn…
Chaos,
Los

that was great! thanks for sharing that.
so freaking cool.
i have heard a lot about this through other buckhead friends already, but seeing it … yeah. God is so cool!!
and also, how freaking blessed is Buckhead to have the leadership like Jeff Henderson making an awkward moment ok and Casey leading worship with such an authentic response to such a cool moment and helping create intimacy among the masses at Buckhead. ya’ll have such a cool thing going on there, its a joy & encouragement to hear about it / see it from a few hundred miles away
The drama ministry and I put together our first Easter Skit for our church (I’m the guy to the right in the green shirt). Coupled with the worship and sermon, it stirred so many hearts that morning.
My pastor best described the whole morning in his blog: http://rlew.com/2008/03/am-i-happy/
I don’t have anything creative to contribute, but that was awesome!
Crying in Lubbock. That was awesome.
That was so rock and roll.

That was an awesome experience Sunday. Reminds us that it doesn’t always have to be perfect like we define perfect.
I’ll be forwarding that to a few folks… thanks!
All I can say is… WOW! Thanks for the chaos
The 5-til was cool. Nice job!
That was AMAZING!
The baptisms accompanied by videos/stories is one of my favorite things about NP and BC. Thanks for sharing this one.
Woah that was awesome even when tech isn’t.
that somebody who yelled was his daughter!
love it
On Sunday, July 13th 2008 after 26 years of being a “christian”,singing in church, traveling all over the world with my missionary family, and serving in every capacity my eyes were opened to the stark truth and I accepted Christ as my PERSONAL Savior. One Oct.5th I am going to be baptized. I cried and cried when I watched this. Oct. 5th cannot come soon enough!
Sarah
we just did open baptisms at our church and over 400 people came forward to be baptized last weekend! the whole worship center smelled like chlorine and there was water EVERYWHERE! it was one of the best moments in weekend programming that i can remember. God really got the glory, and the program was thrown out the window for the sake of those coming forward. PRAISE GOD!!
thanks for sharing that…wish you would have posted the worship after that prayer…I was ready to sing!!
Carlos,
Thanks dude for all you do! Yeah we’ve had those Baptism “moments” at our church too. When nothing works right. Maybe we can begin “praying the demons” out of the equipment…oh wait… I forgot…I’m a Baptist.
Have Fun,
JSK
Jn 10:10

jeff is so pro. way to go simon!
Thanks for sharing that!
We baptized over skype. It was amazing and strangely one of the most special baptisms I’ve ever been a part of even though I was several hundred miles away
Moved and speechless. Man.
thanks for that, los…
welcome home, simon!
Carlos, thanks for posting this! I am sitting here crying! Your last two posts have been awesome, in my opinion. Keep up the awesome, positive messages!
Where’s Carlos today? No posts? Or is my web browser just deceiving me?
OK, this made me cry. Hate technical issues, but love people’s stories. Anyway, my hubby is the media director of a church and I will have to get him turned on to your blog. He’s also a producer of sermon videos and illustrations up on Worship House, Sermon Spice, etc. He loves getting hooked up with other guys in the same field and picking their brains. It’s so cool that we all can learn from each other and see what God is doing through media.
