I’ve NEVER Closed Comments On A Post
But I just did on the Lifeway post below. It’s my blog and I can cry if I want to.
I normally would have had time to monitor them but I like my family too much to spend all day reading some of that craziness.
I was getting nauseous reading them.
If you read them…Go Here And Clean Off.
Los

I ALMOST commented, but I decided to stay above the fray. I’m glad I did. That stuff was crazy.
I was wondering when that was going to happen.
After reading them, I think that was a wise move. And a visit to see Hello Kitty always make me feel better.
Enjoy your family….
smart.
You had to link to Sanrio.
I almost spit Cherry Coke all over my keyboard.
Hilarious dude. Love ya Los.
wow. i’m glad i just get to read the aftermath.
hello kitty, here i come.
Wow! Wow wow wow wow wow.
Time to go watch Blues Clues with the kids. Sheesh!
Yeah, I skimmed over those just now and went “Whoa…no way.” Good call, Los. Some people are just out of control.
There’s always a point where the line needs to be drawn. You did a good thing!
Helllooooo kitty!
Thank you Los. I am usually just a ghost around your sight, but I almost got involved in that until I realized it was pointless and classless. Hello kitty helped, thanks!
I’m surprised that you let it go on as long as you did.
Maybe we could all pitch in and buy her one of your shirts. Do they come in pink?
I am glad that I decided to stay out of it!
Just out of pure morbid curiosity, I was wondering what her word count was. 3,908. Somebody’s gonna have carpal tunnel in the morning! I’ve got a college paper due tomorrow that’s less than half that. Hmmm.
It burns… It burns bad, Los.
It’s too bad one person hijacked the comments…it could have been an interesting, coherent discussion at some point!
lol.
BTW, Sorry about the Mets comment. I knew it might be a bit edgy for the conversation. Didn’t intend to force your hand in shutting down the comments
I was just trying to be the voice of reason and truth. I gave up tho. It became pointless.
I believe that if I smoked, I’d have no choice but to have a cigarette after those comments. Wear. me. out.
Btw, been hearing amazing things about LifeShare! Love seeing the body come together. I look forward to taking part in it!
Sometimes you just gotta’.
Los, you have to do what you have to do. i cant believe it went from hey what do you think or feel to a huge debate. not everything has to go that far. if you feel different you feel different. sheesh. voice what you think and move on. it was a simple question. so my answer is i do not think that a woman should be in charge of the church or the head of it. i say yes to being a pastor like the one for youth or women but to lead the church is a mans job. i think of spiritual leader and that is a mans job in any situation.
I love me some Hello Kitty.
Ha. Hellllo Kitty.
yeah, that’s craziness . . . I used to work in LifeWay bookstore, and seems like they frequently ran from any sort of “controversial” issues … i.e. we pulled books/magazines off the shelf often.
glad I stayed out of the comments though
I usuually don’t comment, but I thought I would tell you that I saw the group from that renewed mind video you posted on the Soup on E! last night. Too funny!
Uhmm… I chose to comment on this subject, but went to our dear friend Vicky Beechings blog. Sorry for the headache here. Ouch.
That post set a couple of records for ragsoul:
-1st post to have 75 comments by one person
-1st post to lock comments
-1st time Los admits he’s a cry baby
I’m not reading the comments, but my daddy just retired from Lifeway. You would not BELIEVE the stuff they get criticized over, or the internal censorship. The best thing my dad ever got was a complaint from a preacher in south Alabama (where else?) that they had published a recipe for a casserole or something that included both dairy and meat products. That’s a violation of Levitical law, and how can you publish recipes that are against God’s way?!?
I learned a lot from my daddy about responding to crazy with wisdom and grace.
You did the right thing, Los. I think someone nailed it on the head with the post that just said, “Manic.” Classic symptoms.
cleaning off. {seesmic_video:{“url_thumbnail”:{“value”:”http://t.seesmic.com/thumbnail/6Popqg8PaP_th1.jpg”}”title”:{“value”:”cleaning off. ”}”videoUri”:{“value”:”http://www.seesmic.com/video/u6GV2VHMvl”}}}
i heart the whittakers…too bad somethings were being loos-sed (yes! please say it with me, loos-sed), while others bound…but even that train wreck was worth good family time. =) ps. lifeshare has been rocking the saddington casa.
Humm…More surprised by these comments then those. Although the conversation did vere away from topic. What was the point of the post to begin with?
Goodness i was afraid to comment after some of the volatile remarks. And i am in the Irish Bible Belt so my views were not welcome in that post!!!
also i had to set up a bookstall at a womens conference yesterday morning so in light of that experience i had some things to say BUT im glad i didnt get a chance to!
Would hate to be told to F*@k off by a far more Godly person than i, thats confusing!!
Could you have broken a record for most comments by one person in a post? I
Los, thanks for cutting that off dude. It wasn’t edifying or building up anymore. In the mean time there are people dying and going to hell out there. Let’s get on that….I could have sworn Jesus told us to be angry and firm in truth and love….I don’t think that was it.
Minnow. Because I think it is an important discussion. Just needs to be moderated.
wow, i missed a lot while i was gone.
Minnow sent me an interesting comment on my blog that I has posted as a seperate post. If anyone would like to intellegently continue some of this conversation about women in church – here’s the link.
http://intraining365.blogspot.com/2008/09/womens-role-in-church-spillover-from.html
Yeah, sometimes we forget the number one rule is love. If you win an argument but don’t have love, what have you got? We gotta love one another!!!
I’m now nondenominational, but I came from a denomination with a great slogan: “In essentials, unity.
In nonessentials, liberty. In all things, charity.” That sums it up. (P.S. women in ministry was filed under “nonessentials” for them.)
Which reminds me:

Manic. Absolutely. Probably not cool to poke fun at that…
i think i hurt my jaw….because it hit the floor. yikes.
it’s too bad people don’t understand the difference between discussion and debating, and hijacking.
pastor matt (brown) said it best recently….the goal is to be real. not rude.
Yeah…wow.
The “funniest” part to me is when it really looks like a certain someone was completely clueless to what some others felt about her comments.
