When sin is categorized,analyzed,or rationalized it becomes like a spider web where,like the hapless insect that is caught in one,the more effort(struggle) one engages in, the greater the entanglement. Holiness is not the abscense of sin where if it were possible through intense personal effort to achieve even for a brief moment such a state the result would not be holiness. Sin however,is the abscense of holiness. When Adam and Eve sinned and lost their connection to God their activities the next day most likely remained consistent with what they had been doing only now it was sin. The cure for this condition,that all are afflicted with in some manner, is grace through the atonement of Christ.As born again believers we have been given the capacity to recieve that which the world (unregenerated humanity) cannot recieve that is the ability to operate in and recieve from Gods realmn.When we consider the benefits of grace from our humanity it is percieved as freedom to sin. When however we become proficient in operating in Gods realmn our perceptions of grace accuratly become freedom from sin. Focusing on Christ instead of the infirmities of our flesh will free us from sins dominance. God does not become insensitive to sin where he becomes acceptant of it in us but contiues to tolerate no sin. When Paul speaks of nailing our sins to the cross they are in Christ and covered by Grace. When we excuse sin and embrace sin we have taken it out of grace and it will continue to dominate us. Isa. Woe be to those that call evil good and good evil.

This guy posted this on another site and I didn't know if he posted it here but I liked it so here it is.
(Kurt // September 16, 2008 at 8:12 am)

I too am very saddened by this. I have had some trials in my life, but for me to go in front of comgress and to say that “God made me an ‘illigal street racer’ so I have to do this and cannot change” or to preach in front of churches that I was made like this will not fly. It is something that I have to fight on occasion, the temptation to race the next Mustang or Camaro that pulls up to the stoplight next to me. But is it not that a temptation? At least for me it is. What about when I see a blonde with the runway model looks and she starts casually talking to me when my wife is at home? Is that not a temptation too? How is this any different than when certain men find the desire for others? I have no problem with alcohol, but we know all too well that is a temptation for many. God did not make us sinners. God ALLOWED Adam to choose, and Adam chose to sin. THEN Adam had children who were sinners. We are all sinners, but as Jesus told the woman who was accused, “Go, and sin no more”.

But does it make it right. There are so many good, even great people. The bible is clear on this and other so called Grey areas. I have a nephew who is gay and a great intelligent guy. It's tough. I would love to just embrace them all. It's complicated. We can choose to water down everything and in fact many people and organizations have and are but it still isn't right. I will love all sinners but I will not condone sin no matter how small. God says be Holy as I am Holy. We can as followers of Christ live lives of holiness. To be truly committed to Christ is not something most Christians strive for but real freedom comes from really trusting. God Bless you and Ray Boltz. He is one of my most favorite artists. I do have trouble listing to his music these days but we all know their are may Christian Artist who struggle with sin. We would be foolish not to think so. Thank God He is just and forgiving. We are so fallen but God is so good. I am reminded of the scripture that talks about since Jesus has come shall we go on sinning? I think not.

I was stunned, but after reading his article I understood. I have been through that road as well. I know the freedom he talks of and I know the deeper love I have for God. My music is finally in my heart. I read a comment here that stated "I can smell the Judgementalism now" It is that reason that I stay to myself, even in the church I am attending and playing for. Christians here, most not all, tend to judge first then seek. I am not in a relationship but rather I have remained to myself. I will pray for Ray like Mike Warnke he has a LONG journey ahead because some Chrisitan can be the worst Judges.

Having gay sex isn't a sin? Did someone rewrite the bible when I wasn't looking? Leviticus 18:22, part of the law given by God to Moses, states "You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination" .. and Leviticus 20:13 says "If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them" ... this sexual act can be found in the scripture between having sex with your mother-in-law and animals.. both of those I'm sure you'd agree on being detestable. but you're saying it's ok to have gay sex? I looked over the hebrew text for both of those passages, and unless you have some knowledge of hebrew that countless other scholars don't, you'll be hard pressed to convince me that God didn't make it pretty plain that it is a sin.

Just because Jesus came and brought forth a covenant of grace, through which we can be redeemed and not live under the Jewish law, doesn't mean God changed his mind about what constitutes sin.

Wait a minute--

The sin of "Bearing False Witness" is serious enough to be one of the Ten Commandments. There is no Commandment against homosexuality.

Is not the sin of lying to his wife for the past thirty years (which breaks the Commandments) a greater sin than finally admitting to homosexuality?

Why can't we just call a sin a sin. Ray has ruined his reputation and witness. I hold nothing back with this. He needs prayer and needs to repent of this horrible sin. I am not politically correct and don't care to be. Not being rude, just honest. Scripture tells us right and wrong and the gay lifestyle is wrong. It is condemned over and over.(1 Cor. 6, Rom 1, Lev 18&20"it is an abomination") We don't make the moral rules, God does and He describes clearly what homosexuality is. I am not judging just stating fact. If people don't like it, take it up with God. Pray about it and He will open your eyes that have been clouded over by society and the "god" of this world.

@David:

You need to tone it down. Chose your words and tone carefully because it comes across hateful with such a sensative subject. Just say'n.

You know, I'm a little tired of so many people making accusations of "judging" because of those who say that homosexuality is a sin. Judging is making your own call on something. If I was walking down the street and saw a guy with a pink t-shirt and said, "Oh, he's homosexual," then that would be judging because I really don't know. But stating what the Bible says about homosexuality (that it's bad) isn't judging-it's just repeating God's opinion, which is the only one that matters. On top of that, the Bible says that God "desires truth in the inward parts." God wants not just the outside sins (the actions) dealt with, but the inside (desires, cravings), too. He wants to set us all straight with whatever sins we struggle with.
