Sunday Morning ZZZZZzzzzz’s

So it is Sunday morning here at Buckhead Church.
I got here at 6:30 am. 30 minutes later than if I was producing.
But alas today I’m a guitar player.
And after 2 rehearsals and an entire service…
I CAN’T WAKE UP!!!
I’ve tried every legal substance in this building to wake up.
What is your secret to getting past the early morning drag?
Los

Two things: One, you’ll need Heather for…and that’s all I’m gonna say about that one
. Sorry, that’s a Sunday mornin staple in this house!!
Two…About a pot of coffee and 100 jumping jacks. There ya have it!
For starters I stay AWAY from lounge areas with pillows!
Then I engage with people. You know, what you do here online
4 shots of espresso. And some cream. And then a lot of water. We’re on our way to church now. I’ll be watching to see if you’re awake!
two options… a brisk shower or sleep until the afternoon. Usually I have to go with the shower.
LifeChurch.tv Edmond Broadcast Team … fueled by Monster Energy Drink.
I try to go to bed at a decent time the night before.
Sugar-free Red Bull =D
But there must be something in the air today because I slept NINE hours last night and I’m still exhausted.
Diet Pepsi Max…. caffeine is my drug of choice!
Coke Zero is my friend
6 cups and a brisk morning drive out to our second site to deliver graphics. and then 2 more cups
dude i was in the same boat.
#1 get more than 2 and half hours of sleep
#2 a ton of coffee
#3 jump around. we do that after our sunday morning meetings sometimes. good stuff.
Monster. A can of Low-Carb Monster. Live it! Love it!
Walk it off. Literally, just get up and get moving around, the blood will get flowing and you’ll be fine.
dude. i had a nice ‘late’ 7am call time this morning, but i only got 2 hours of sleep, and amazingly im not too tired. i think if you get less than 2.5 hours you are good because your body just thinks its a nap, but if you get like more than 2.5 to say 5 hours, you are exhausted.
(a venti white mocha from starbucks with a a red bull also helps)
Let me know when you figure it out.
Used to hate those Sundays when I produced. Get some caffeine, move around, talk to people.
Sunday afternoon nap is your FRIEND!
To clarify: I didn’t hate producing, just those sleepy Sundays when nothing could wake me up. =) Loved serving with my awesome production team!
coffee has more caffeine than espresso. one cup of coffee plus walking around during your time off the stage. being still allows me to stay tired.
Burpees.
The power of Christ compels me…
Uh, actually I just really make it a point to get to bed. When SNL is not good it helps a lot!
When I’ve got 7 experiences here at LifeChurch.tv in Tulsa…I gotta gets some shut eye.
Try apples. They are supposed to be better than caffeine. I keep no sugar added applesauce at work and I think it helps.
Breakfast. I usually either make a breakfast burrito of I pick one up at Sonic.
My pastor told me that you should eat like a king for breakfast, a prince for lunch, and a pauper for dinner.
Go to be early the night before (which I’m terrible at).
Take a shower immediately after getting up.
Extra strong coffee…8 scoops for a 8 cup pot.
Simple. At least eight hours quality sleep the night prior.
I agree with the apples.
I wouldn’t know about Sunday morning “staples” although I’m sure that’s an excellent recommendation.
I like quick jogs. Even just 15 minutes. It’s the last thing you’ll want to do but the best thing for you.
stretch…especially your back muscles. stimulates adrenaline.
if a double espresso does not do the trick – COLD SHOWER…. it’s enough to blow the sleepy cobwebs outta anyone!!!!

I drink gasoline….
or RedLine Energy drinks
Lots of B12
A wise old dude once said, “THE BATTLE IS WON OR LOST THE NIGHT BEFORE”
Here’s how I have applied that to stay sharp for leading worship/ministering Sunday am’s
1. PLan everything the night before (outfit, everything I need to take in the morning, etc)
2. Eat dinner earlier on Saturday night (preferably no food after 8 pm)
3. No junk like soda, sugar, donuts, or the like on Saturday night – only healthy snacks are allowed
4. Wake up at 4:30 and leave my house at 5 to be at church by 5:30.
5. Read the Psalm and Proverb of the day and any other verses on my heart or relating to the worship set.
6. Turn on the sound system and practice the worship set all by myself – just me and JC
7. DOn’t eat until I have finished all 4 services – if necessary some fruit – otherwise a cup of coffee and lots of water –
8. Quote Phillipians 4:13 to myself all day and believe God for the energy to lead a rehearsal and 4 services in a sunday.
9. Watch God’s Word come through for me every week…
And good suggestion about not lingering near dimly lit areas, couches, anything that might trigger the sleep reflex – stay engaged all day long..
Stay strong my friend! His joy is our strength..
I’d have to say go to bed early and (for me) 1cup of caffinated coffee… it’ll perk ya up AND keep you regular :O). TMI??
I mainline Starbucks!
All the above plus:
STARBUCKS TIPS:
1. Go to Starbucks on Saturday, order your drink made ICED, with very light ice. Pop it in your fridge and simply take it out in the morning, add ice and start getting caffeinated. Plus this eliminates one of the stops on your way to church (interpretation: 15 minutes more of sleeping).
2. If you like hot drinks; still order your drink on Saturday ICED. This way the milk isn’t steamed. You could heat it up in the microwave (in an appropriate microwavable cup)
3. When you order your drink: add one (or two) energy packets to your drink. It is comprised of ginseng, B-12 vitamins and guarana extract (a highly caffeinated Latin American fruit). It’s good in hot or cold drinks. Doesn’t change the taste at all. I’ll even use it in lemonade (for you non-coffee drinkers out there)
4. If you have a milk based drink, consider adding protein powder. This gives you a more sustained energy through out the morning. Personally I only like this in hot drinks.
– your perky barista and (vicar of vibe)
Oh, if you are addicted to Saturday night t.v.- tape it and watch it after church on Sunday – just before your nap.
Try a double shot of Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee “Vooba Vooba Espresso” (order at http://drinkcoffeedogood.com or BUY IT AT CATALYST!) with a bit of steamed milk, a touch of sugar, and a LOT of ice! If it fails to work, REPEAT UNTIL EXTREMELY CAFFINATED!
See you at catalyst!
Change the first morning poopy diaper. That’s all it takes to keep my eyes wide open for a while!
