Butt Whooping Quote

Posted on 16. Nov, 2008 by loswhit in Books

“If you find yourself criticizing other people, you’re probably doing it out of Resistance. When we see others beginning to live their authentic selves, it drives us crazy if we have not lived out our own. Individuals who are realized in their own lives almost never criticize others. If they speak at all, it is to offer encouragement. Watch yourself. Of all the manifestations of Resistance, most only h arm ourselves. Criticism and cruelty harm others as well.”

- Steven Pressfield

From The War of Art.

What book are you reading right now that is shifting your alignments?

Isaiah 42. Singing in the midst of the endtime judgements. Amazing stuff. Isaiah, in general, has been kicking my butt lately.

Paradise to Prison: Study on the Book of Genesis. Let's face it, no one enjoys reading the Book of Genesis. This book makes it enjoyable with retainable information, rather then a million names and dates. Check it out.

Craig Groschel's book on 'IT: How the church can get it and keep it', Bill Hybles book on Axioms, the book of Colossians… right now God is rocking my world and pushing my boundaries with these 3 books. I'm seeking my authentic life as a child of God…

I just re-read Art & Fear. Totally amazing book about creativity and art-making.

The first time I read it I was in Barnes + Noble. And I knew that I needed to buy it when I had already begun underlining sections and writing in the margins!

And I just ordered a half dozen to give away to my team and volunteers. So good!

Two books – TrueFaced and then another book I am reading called Scandalous Freedom which is by Steve Brown. These books have revolutionized my view on my faith and the church – and allowed me to experience deeper grace and freedom in Christ!

This is an awesome book about faith- your decisions to be obedient to God's lead, to make the most of your opportunities, to refocus your perspective and to take risks with impossible odds. To take risks that can only result in with the answer, “it was a God thing!” We often pray safe prayers of keeping us free from harm or burdens. But this book encourages us to pray prayers of endurance and strength through trials. It's through these trials that God prepares us with the tools to do what he has sent us here on earth to accomplish for His Kingdom. It has changed my perspective of my life to one of why's this happening to me to THANK YOU Lord for taking me through these trials!
