TimeLapse Is So Last Year // My Day In 90 Seconds

Posted on 12. Nov, 2008 by loswhit in Creativity

So this is refreshing idea.
We have all seen me overkill the time lapse program on my laptop.
There is something cool about seeing your day fly before your eyes.
This time around, it is a different concept with a WILDLY different result.
Simply 2 second clips edited together with hard cuts, no soundtrack, and only 90 seconds.
Why 90 seconds?
Because it belongs to a Flickr group and Flickr only allows you to upload videos of 90 seconds or less.

My Day Yesterday (11.12.08) In 90 Seconds from Carlos Whittaker on Vimeo.

Now here is the fun part. I made Heather do it to. Head over to her blog and see her day.
Sometimes I hate that I can’t stop creating even after I clock out of my job.
It wears me out but I feel alive.
Alive.

That was quite cool. My favourite part of the day is when my little one does the “Dadeeeeeee” sprint. Glad to see you get at least one of those :)

  4. theepicbeat 13 November 2008 at 12:56 am #

wow dude. That might be the single best video I've seen of yours. I love that you bookended your workday with the funky lights in your office. Noticed a few extra seconds devoted to chipotle too! haha.

Great vid. I mean it. Really great!
I can appreciate what you say about not being able to stop creating, Sometimes the ideas come like projectile vomiting, and your left sorting out the big pieces.

  11. Steve Conley 13 November 2008 at 5:28 am #

Give some details on how it came about. What did it took to do all of that and how much time in the end… such as putting it all together.

  12. human3rror 13 November 2008 at 5:38 am #

  15. Brad Ruggles 13 November 2008 at 5:56 am #

Dude, that is totally cool. I love that so much more than the time lapse video because you can actually see what helped make up your day. I'm going to have to try that myself.

  16. Vicki S. 13 November 2008 at 6:01 am #

If only you could do all of that in 90 seconds in real life then there'd me more time for burrito eating! (a variation of the comment I put on Heather's blog referring to Cold Stone ice cream eating).

  17. Nina 13 November 2008 at 6:10 am #

Did you use a digital camcorder for this whole thing? And did you have someone else help you film? I'm just one person!

  18. Patrick Murphy 13 November 2008 at 6:18 am #

    What a wonderful video..and my first response…
“Why he is still using the previous version of iMovie?
    hahaha
I'm such a nerd. Do you need iLife '08? I can get it for you.

  22. shan 13 November 2008 at 7:09 am #

that's great…it'd be fun to try that. but, 1 question…how many weird looks did you get as you were setting up the camera and filming at random places throughout the day? (not that that would stop me :) . ~s
p.s.~mmmmmmmmm, chilpotle (yes, we're still going strong)

  23. jenn 13 November 2008 at 7:57 am #

  29. Jasmine* 13 November 2008 at 11:18 am #

Sick. SO SICK! I loved this! I wish I could do something like this, but I'm afraid it'd be 90 seconds of me just clicking away on my computer…I need to get out sometimes! :)

  30. carie 13 November 2008 at 11:21 am #

Oh! I love these! Have watched tons of them on Flickr…they're strangely addicting. super cute….loved Losiah running to greet you when you got home!

  31. worshipcity 13 November 2008 at 11:22 am #

    Haha seriously dude please answer:
    1) What do people say when you have a camcorder in their face!
    2) How much time does it take setting up those shots?!?! Hahaha. I loved the one on the ground as you entered the car!!!

Best time of the day is meeting the kiddos after work/daycare! I live for that moment!

Awesome. Glad to see you're also a burrito lover. Except here in San Antonio we've got Freebirds and Habeneros.
Anyway man this was really cool. Also seeing your boy running up to you like that when you got home was pretty amazing. You're a very blessed individual bro.

genius. And I saw that you're reading “Pop Goes the Church”. Tim Stevens gave a simply fantastic talk and breakout session on this last week at The Sticks, and I had a chance to talk to him for awhile. Great stuff.

  45. Ace 15 November 2008 at 6:45 am #

very cool. why would you want to clock out of being creative? you are obviously very good at it!

  46. dewde 16 November 2008 at 10:54 am #

Hey man. I can't speak for Carlos but I did one too and I had a total of 8 minutes of video and it took me about 45 minutes to edit and save. It actually took longer to upload to the internet than anything else!

    It's a quick project.
