You Don’t Know It All

One thing I am ALWAYS doing is trying to learn.
Trying to learn from everyone I can.
While I was at Sandals Church I was studying Northpoint, Buckhead, Fellowship Church, Saddleback, New Spring.
Systems, processes, design, music, everything.
Now that I am at Buckhead Church, a place where EVERYTHING is done with excellence, I will not let the learning stop.
Because we ALWAYS want to take what we are doing and step it up for the Glory of God.
Luckily, I have friends who are way more talented than I.
One of those friends is Dex Alezander.
Yea. The All Together Seperate Dex.
Same guy.
Well God called him and his bride out of Riverside Cali about one year to the date I was called out of Riverside Cali.
He landed at Fellowship Church in Grapevine, TX.
Our worlds parallel in amazing ways so we started talking about him and Pace comeing out to Buckhead to see what we do and me coming out to Fellowship to see what they do.
Well a few days ago Dex invited me out to see the DVD recording of Fellowship Church’s “Closer To The Start” album.
I will never say no to a free trip to learn from the best.
So here I sit in this auditorium as they rehearse for tonight’s DVD recording.
Meeting and learning from their staff as to how they do Service Programming and getting to see an AMAZING production tonight as they record their DVD.
I LOVE the Capital “C” Church.
Not just large churches helping small churches.
But large churches helping large churches.
Small churches helping large churches
Thanks Dex, Pace and your team for having me out today and letting me learn and pull some killer ideas to take back to Atlanta and help make His name famous.

Who are you learning from?
Who are you giving to?

Los

    Closer To The Start

    That is a genius title.

Some Rush fan is having a giggle.

Um…not wanting to blow sunshine up your, well, you know, but I have learned much from the one and only Los. In addition to you there's Dex and Pace, Team Digerati, and the guys at Mars Hill Seattle. As for giving back, ever since moving back to my hometown I've been visiting a young church (Faith Tabernacle) that really sums up why I moved back in the first place. They want to reach the communities in Northeast Louisiana and they know they can't do it alone. Too many churches in this area have an attitude of “you do your thing over there, we'll do ours over here”. So I'm going to begin volunteering at Faith Tabernacle wherever they need me.

Question to your question: Ok so I am really convicted about this after reading your post. I have a couple of churches locally that I would like to go to and see (from the inside) how things are done. BUT How do I initiate that conversation? Do I just call them and say “Hey I want to come in and check you all out. When can I come over?” I mean seriously how does one properly initiate that conversation. And yeah I'm scared, but hey I want to learn so teach me!

That is so awesome. I love Pace's blog (though he needs to blog more often). Looking forward to the release of this dvd, I bet it will be a killer night.

I haven't been checking the sandals podcasts since you left…not that they ever played music on the podcasts…just kind of worked out that way.

I went to Fellowship while I was in Seminary. It was just as big a part of my education as my classes were. Right now I learn a lot from Perry Noble, Mark Batterson, Ben Arment, Elevation Church, Howard Hendricks, and Andy Stanley.

Yes!!! Just ask. I swear. If people would only ask then we would learn so much.

i am on a really small staff, so my creative team and inspiration are all of you online/bloggers. Please don't stop doing the Creative Chaos! It is a little lifeline for me.

I'm not sure who I'm learning from. My talents are not the kind of talents they like to use at Christian Assembly. I'm a cartoonist and blogger, and they are musicians and dancers. I can't seem to find a hole in their ministry of my size and shape.

When do we get to see what you see?

Big fan of the stuff they do out at Mars Hill Seattle. Using some of Tim Keller's stuff, too.

That is awesome! It is great to see how the Body of Christ is working together. We (as Christians) either unite for the Kingdom or we lose by being divided. It is cool to see such a good example of unity.

    Thanks for the encouraging post.

this is great that you were able to do this. I think when we feel we no longer need to learn we have somehow lost the focus of what we're trying to accomplish in the first place. It becomes more about us and what we know rather than always striving to grow.
I love going to other conferences and watching worship leaders, especially womens conferences. I love to see how they engage the crowd, or minister to them according to their age group or particular denomination. Sometimes Ive learned from the mistakes theyve made. But its always easier to learn from the audience then it is when you yourself are leading.
