My All Nighter
LEft LAX at 440 pm. Arrived in Atlanta at midnight.
Drove to Ridgecrest, NC all night.
Pulled in at 4:14 am.
Unloaded the car in 4 degree weather.
Fell asleep at 5:30 am.
Woke up at 7:30 am.
Sound Check at 8 am.
When was the last time you pulled one of those?
I know you have.
Los

Funny you should mention it, but I did the closest version of an all nighter that an old broad like me could muster just last night working on a book deadline. Wrote till 2:30 and set the clock for 4:00. Got in the groove by 4:30 and am still going. Prayers please.
Last weekend this is my confession.
every 4th night, baby. arrive at work at 0530…work through breakfast, lunch, dinner, breakfast the next day and lunch the next day. 30 hours. Then crash and sleep like nothing you've ever even dreamed about.
You are my hero
Missed you by a few hours, Los. I flew out of LAX at 11 AM and flew OVER Atlanta to DC somewhere around 8 PM (had a connection through New Orleans).
Can't remember my last all-nighter. Thankfully, it's probably been 2-3 years.
HA.
When editing announcement guys for our church video announcements. Put it off until late saturday, then reaped havoc the whole night.
I pull a lot of all nighters. Insomnia sucks.
I'm sorry. Like you really have insomnia?
Yes sir. Not right as of this moment though. Right now I have the flu and I'm sleeping like a baby. It comes and goes. The longest I have not been able to sleep is 5 days.
I'm with you — understand and really get it. It is awful!
Yes it is!
wow
New Years' Eve…we throw an all-nighter for the youth group every NYE at the church. I've also pulled two other all-nighters within the past three months.
Welcome to Asheville…hope you stay warm and get some sleep.
You in Asheville?
Something similar the other day. Pulled out of my house at 3:00 a.m. arrived in Snowshoe, WV for some snowboarding at 10:00. Started back home at 5:00 p.m. and pulled back into the house at 1:00 a.m. the next morning. I crashed, but it was worth the day of nice pow.
Have fun in the N. C.
Editing small group videos on Saturday night for Sunday morning. Then trying to find strength to lead worship.
Praying for ya Los!
to bad you couldn't have caught a flight right in to NC that arrived at 6am so you could sleep on the plane… can't recall the last all nighter I did but I was younger and didn't like them then
Dude I feel you.
I got a total of like 15 hours of sleep all last week!!
It sucks!
stayed up till 2:30 writing papers for a class i didn't know i had paper in, went to be around 3 thanks to my good buddy red bull, and then woke up @5:30 to do live election coverage at the T.V. station,
When I got my xbox360 for christmas!
Totally. I'm addicted too.
Last surgery our son had – can you say caffeine??!! LOTS of caffeine!!
how did it go? How is he now?
He is good – thanks
Lots of medical history – 6 surgeries – God is faithful!
This one's easy.
Early November for a certain Blog Party.
Allison and I left at midnight, and arrived in Atlanta around 9:00am.
It was the best and worst nine hours of my life.
My body is definitely not made to do that anymore, that's for sure.
Once a week bro!! I usually don't sleep on Sundays, especially when the Steelers games don't start until 10pm. Ya get used to it
dude, im so jealous… you get to go to ridgecrest!!! take pictures for me.. the nibble nook, the putt putt course, the rocking chairs, the little kids begging for quarters, the ridgecrest version of the royal gorge apts (i dont remember the name), day camp, the bookstore, everything else… youre lucky.. do you ever get to go to glorietta?
Last night.
only two times in my life have i pulled an all-nighter. the first one was in college, when i studied for my spanish final. that really was the only final i ever stayed up all night to attempt to pass. the second all-nighter i pulled was the night i gave birth to our only son. i went into active labor at 11:30pm and delivered him at 8:51am.
i did that last night. the all nighter, yes.
i've had 3 in the past 3 weeks(oof, that's not a good percentage)due to workload, sleeplessness(sp), and flood damage in the stoopid basement.
december 23. started packing at midnight. ate "breakfast". got to o'hare at 3:30. flight left at 5:30. arrived in atlanta at 8:50am. drove to carrollton. went to lunch with the family. crashed hard.
Welcome to the greater Asheville area. We saved some really friggin' cold for you.
I last pulled one of those at our winter conference at the end of December. I'm getting too old for it.
Dude. It's cold
whoa! what are you doing up here in western north carolina?!?
sorry it's so butt-cold
if there's no church plans in the morning, come to The Rock Church at 10am – http://www.therockofasheville.com
Shew… can't do those any more. But, last time was for students as a student leader.
This past year during hurricane Ike, we were staged in Austin, Texas and I had to drive our team to Houston and back everyday for a week before we could get a motel in Houston. This is a three hour drive each way, and we worked a 12 hour day in Houston trying to get Wachovia Banks up and running safely again. So 18 hour days for a week at 50 years old is rough, but I could not let my way younger co-workers see take a break!
after a passion event in dallas. leaving at 1130pm and getting out of dallas at 1230 am, driving all the way through to wichita, ks through hail, snow, rain, and ice (passing the snowploughs no less) and getting into wichita at 530 am all to lead a bunch of high school kids at 630 am. not sleeping all afternoon, driving 3 hours back to school in manhattan, ks and then writing a paper until 1130 pm…then going to ihop for some pancakes…then going to bed around 1 am….awesome! best night of college so far!
STOP IT NOW! This is a lie. False blogging! Don't let him fool you, around 2-5am Mr. put his headphones on, and went to sleep, while he made me drive! Mr Ragamuffin give credit where credit is due! H
I didn't say WHO drove. I just said drove.
Praying.
I'm in Franklin…it's an hour away from Asheville but some of my family lives there, so I'm there every other weekend.
Last all-nighter…I think yesterday. And usually every Saturday. It's hard to sleep before a Sunday morning.
From last Saturday 1AM through Monday morning… my firstborn, David, was born after a very long labor and a much appreciated c-section.
Probably can't get much of a better reason than that!
Congratulations to you and David's Mommy. Welcome to the world, David!
Not the best sleeper in town so often come close, but my last complete one — actually a few nights in a row with NO sleep, began when I got a letter in the mail from the LA Coroner telling me I'd been identified as next of kin for my big brother, who they had. It will be 6 years ago this summer.
Wow. Praying for you on that one.
I actually pulled an all nighter last night at church. We had an overnighter for out youth group.
I haven’t slept in over 40 hours.
November 30th went to Oahu for a concert & couldn't fall asleep the night before I left as I had many things to do and an early flight. Was too wired afterwards & was up for a total of 42 hrs. Slept in late that Sunday!

March 2007… stayed up all night with my pastor making a video to raise money so that our church can stop renting a wal-mart and buy a k-mart.
oh man, this is so a conversation me and my wife would have. Oh the details.
