LEft LAX at 440 pm.  Arrived in Atlanta at midnight.
Drove to Ridgecrest, NC all night.

Unloaded the car in 4 degree weather.
Fell asleep at 5:30 am.

Sound Check at 8 am.

Funny you should mention it, but I did the closest version of an all nighter that an old broad like me could muster just last night working on a book deadline. Wrote till 2:30 and set the clock for 4:00. Got in the groove by 4:30 and am still going. Prayers please.

Last weekend this is my confession.

every 4th night, baby. arrive at work at 0530…work through breakfast, lunch, dinner, breakfast the next day and lunch the next day. 30 hours. Then crash and sleep like nothing you've ever even dreamed about.

Missed you by a few hours, Los. I flew out of LAX at 11 AM and flew OVER Atlanta to DC somewhere around 8 PM (had a connection through New Orleans).

Can't remember my last all-nighter. Thankfully, it's probably been 2-3 years.

When editing announcement guys for our church video announcements. Put it off until late saturday, then reaped havoc the whole night.

I pull a lot of all nighters. Insomnia sucks.

    • loswhit 18 January 2009 at 2:10 am #

I'm sorry. Like you really have insomnia?

      • Carrie 18 January 2009 at 5:56 pm #

Yes sir. Not right as of this moment though. Right now I have the flu and I'm sleeping like a baby. It comes and goes. The longest I have not been able to sleep is 5 days.

    • Aimee 18 January 2009 at 5:36 am #

I'm with you — understand and really get it. It is awful!

New Years' Eve…we throw an all-nighter for the youth group every NYE at the church. I've also pulled two other all-nighters within the past three months.

Welcome to Asheville…hope you stay warm and get some sleep.

Something similar the other day. Pulled out of my house at 3:00 a.m. arrived in Snowshoe, WV for some snowboarding at 10:00. Started back home at 5:00 p.m. and pulled back into the house at 1:00 a.m. the next morning. I crashed, but it was worth the day of nice pow.

Have fun in the N. C.

    This one's easy.
Early November for a certain Blog Party.

Allison and I left at midnight, and arrived in Atlanta around 9:00am.
It was the best and worst nine hours of my life.
My body is definitely not made to do that anymore, that's for sure.

This past year during hurricane Ike, we were staged in Austin, Texas and I had to drive our team to Houston and back everyday for a week before we could get a motel in Houston. This is a three hour drive each way, and we worked a 12 hour day in Houston trying to get Wachovia Banks up and running safely again. So 18 hour days for a week at 50 years old is rough, but I could not let my way younger co-workers see take a break!

after a passion event in dallas. leaving at 1130pm and getting out of dallas at 1230 am, driving all the way through to wichita, ks through hail, snow, rain, and ice (passing the snowploughs no less) and getting into wichita at 530 am all to lead a bunch of high school kids at 630 am. not sleeping all afternoon, driving 3 hours back to school in manhattan, ks and then writing a paper until 1130 pm…then going to ihop for some pancakes…then going to bed around 1 am….awesome! best night of college so far!

STOP IT NOW! This is a lie. False blogging! Don't let him fool you, around 2-5am Mr. put his headphones on, and went to sleep, while he made me drive! Mr Ragamuffin give credit where credit is due! H

From last Saturday 1AM through Monday morning… my firstborn, David, was born after a very long labor and a much appreciated c-section.

    • aim 18 January 2009 at 5:33 am #

Probably can't get much of a better reason than that! :) Congratulations to you and David's Mommy. Welcome to the world, David!

Not the best sleeper in town so often come close, but my last complete one — actually a few nights in a row with NO sleep, began when I got a letter in the mail from the LA Coroner telling me I'd been identified as next of kin for my big brother, who they had. It will be 6 years ago this summer.

    • loswhit 18 January 2009 at 6:39 pm #

Wow. Praying for you on that one.

  34. Sean Sid 17 January 2009 at 10:04 pm #

November 30th went to Oahu for a concert & couldn't fall asleep the night before I left as I had many things to do and an early flight. Was too wired afterwards & was up for a total of 42 hrs. Slept in late that Sunday!
