This morning my buddy Inman Houston, who is speaking at this conference, spoke on Matthew 5. The Sermon on the Mount.
What scripture was your Sunday sermon based off of?
What did He teach you?

Our church is in a series called "The Pro Series" and the message today was on "Pro Life". It was a message on the topic like I've never heard. Our Pro Life position impacts all life: the needy, the orphans and widows and the defenseless. Best part was in the introduction Joe was talking about how God judges nations and how Israel was judged because the people didn't follow Him and then he asked "are we worthy to be called the church?"

I heard Andy Stanley doing Part 1 of the "Simple" series. Awesome, simple presentation of the invitation to "follow me" that Jesus gives to each and every one of us.

Our church just started a new series called "True[ish]." God’s truth is black and white and even though there is no gray area, that’s where many of us choose to live. We prefer to live by the concepts or facts we wish to be true, rather than those known to be true… the gray area. The first message asked the question, "What is truth?" http://www.lifechurch.tv/current-series

In the middle of a series called "Top Secret." When we usually think of the secrets that we shouldn't live with, we think of the bad. Today we discussed the importance of making sure secret DREAMS are brought to the surface as well. Focusing on Mark 4:21-22.

    21. He said to them, "Do you bring in a lamp to put it under a bowl or a bed? Instead, don't you put it on its stand? 22. For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open."

We appropriately had a father-son baptism as well. Very cool.

And very appropriate for tomorrow's holiday.

Acts 3-healing of the lame beggar. I called todays class, "Welcome to Jury Duty" Exhibit A-Healing of Lame Beggar. God uses a miracle to prep the crowd for Peter's 2nd Sermon.

I'm not sure what passage it is, but it's the one about skipping church to go to Borders and look at travel books.

Fearless and the passage was Isa. 41:10. One comment that stuck out- Trust in God and not circumstances. (see Matt. 8 and the storm on Galilee. Jesus was with them and they were still afraid because they did not focus on God but on the circumstances-i.e. wind and storm blowing around)

We're in a series called Closer and this week was about staying in the word of God. He started at John 1:1 and went to 1:14. Best part of our service was Lolo Jones getting up and sharing about her faith and her sport. She quotes scripture while she's pacing at the blocks before a race! I thought that was the coolest thing! Just the motivation this runner needed to keep it up!

Our scripture was from the first chapter of Phillipians and was about living life as a citizen of the Kingdom and in the one-ness that God is calling us to live as. One thing that resonated with me was the point that many of us are hyper-individualistic and deem anyone who isn't as "needy," forgetting that we do, in fact, need each other and are called to live in community, "standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel."

1 Peter 4: 7-19. God taught me that suffering in life is to be excepted because we live in a fallen world, and that even though I am not faithful, God is ALWAYS faithful.

We had a missionary from Mali, West Africa, speak today. He started with Acts 1, but mostly spoke of the work he does in in a predominantly Muslim nation, and his previous experiences in the Cote d'Ivoire during the war.

We're doing a series in Esther called "God of This City." This morning we talked about Esther 4:9-17. It was about Mordechai saying that maybe Esther was put there for such a time as this, and Esther asking for the Jewish people to fast since she is risking her life for her people. Our main point was about having strength in our weakness, and how that is a beautiful place to be. He referenced 2 Corinthians 12:7-10 as well. It was really good!

Ours was about being the person Christ wants for you to be. More of Him, less of me. 2 Chronicles. When we became Christ followers, we made decisions that would affect our future…meaning, we committed our lives to Christ. We need to make sure the decisions we make reflect that decision. Not sure if anything I am saying makes any sense…I was fighting with 4 kids while listening to the sermon.

    4) Don't be afraid to make adjustments along the way. (missed the scripture)

In a Series on Romans – this week on God's Unfailing Promises –
*even when we are unfaithful HE is always faithful.
*HE is Holy – God of truth – it is HIS very nature to be true
*Being assured GOD keeps his promises – HE is faithful and true even when we are not.
*God's faithfulness in His correction – His promises also correct us and give us the direction He chooses for us.

    Pastor Danny Chambers
New Year's Revolution: Part 2 – Worship Revolution / Couriers of God's Power

    Referenced Verses:

    Matthew 4:10
    Acts 17:28
    Luke 19:10
    John 4: 23 – 24
    Daniel 11:32
    James 4:8
    Hosea 6:3
    Hosea 10:12
    John 3:34
    Psalms 68:12

My 2 personal favorite out of those he referenced:

    (1) Daniel 11:32b TLB " … But the people who know their God shall be strong and do great things." – Pastor Danny pointed out that we are to personally know God, not just know facts about God

    and

    (2) John 3:34 AMP "God does not give Him His Spirit sparingly or by measure, but boundless is the gift God makes of His Spirit!" – Pastor Danny pointed out that God's gives 100% to all people, but it's up to the individual person how much he/she receives
