Love that song. I didn't play on the team today, so got to be in the congregation and just belt it out.

Who sings that? We are going into a whole new realm of worship with our teens and I'd love to hear that song just based on the title and your response.

  13. kacie 11 January 2009 at 10:27 am #

    oops. sorry. :)
the song's "it's for the best" by straylight run.
the lyrics make me go weak in the knees.

It takes more time than I've ever had,
    Drains the life from me,
    Makes me want to forget,
    As young as I was,
    I felt older back then,
    More disciplined,
    Stronger and certain,
But I was scared to death of eternity,
    I was saved by grace,
    But destroyed by naivety,
    And I lied to myself,
And said it was for the best,

And now faith is replaced with a logic so cold
    I've disregarded what I was,
    Now that I'm older,
And I know much more than I did back then,
    But the more I learn,
    The more I can't understand,
And I've become content with this life that I lead,
Where I drink to much and don't believe in much of anything,
    And I lie to myself,
And say it's for the best,

You Never Let Go by Matt Redman sung by our church's praise team. After the song, someone came up and testified he has been coming to our church and taking drugs in the bathroom to make it through but as of 11 days ago he is clean. We prayed and broke out into prayer for our loved ones on drugs.

    You Saw Me – Hillsong

Our pastor announced his impending retirement from ministry yesterday, and this is helping me to cope. He has been with our church for 15 years, and it will surely be an intense transition. I play drums in the praise band, and this song has been screaming from my soul since we started learning it.

Ecclesiastes 7:14 "When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider; God has made the one as well as the other."

  91. Steveo 12 January 2009 at 4:55 am #

Ok, so this weekend was "youth" weekend at my church. I got to mix a really good worship set but the song that moved me was an acoustic version of Underoath's "Some will seek forgiveness, others escape." We did it with two acoustics, a cello, and an upright bass. It was an awesome version that really tied into the message like a glove. The cello and bass gave it more of a darker feel than that original. It was an awesome weekend, but that was the song that moved me the most.

It is Well with How Great Thou Art, with Casey Darnell leading and Mandy Miller, Steve Thomason, and Elliott Moon accompanying. The second verse's lyrics never cease to amaze.

Very powerful, very convicting, but at the same time so uplifting

Come Alive by Foo Fighters is hitting pretty hard these days especially the ending

    Nothing more to give
    I can finally live
    Come alive

    Your life into me
    I can finally breathe
    Come alive

I lay there in the dark
    And opened my eyes
You saved me the day you came alive
