My favorite Driscoll message(s) was the whole Ruth series. They were Driscoll at the top of his game. Incredibly well done.

    • Gabriella 10 February 2009 at 2:24 am #

I have never heard him speak but would love to read his book!

  2. Tyler_Braun 9 February 2009 at 5:56 pm #

one of my favorites was actually his message a couple weekends ago on Scripture as a part of the new series called trial. he went through every reason Scripture should have our full attention and why it is fully God's Word. I love it.

  3. Katie 9 February 2009 at 5:57 pm #

It would be nice to scratch the Valentine's gift for Josh off my to-do list.

  4. Kyle 9 February 2009 at 5:58 pm #

Dude, I think I'm the first to comment?!

Definitely "Putting Preachers In Their Place". I just came across it three weeks ago, and I've listened to it every Saturday since then on my long marathon training runs. Nothing gets me more fired up than a breakdown of preaching and the Church throughout the entire Bible, cover to cover, in 1 hour and 15 minutes.

And this quote helps, too: "SHAME ON ALL WHO CALL INTO QUESTION THE FINISHED WORK OF JESUS ON THE CROSS!"

Excited to hear from everyone else…

  5. Kevin Davis 9 February 2009 at 6:04 pm #

I'm agreeing with Tyler – I loved the Trial series on Scripture – I spend a lot of time with more liberally minded Christians and the validity of scripture is often discussed – Mark gave me a lot of take aways.

  6. Eduardo Mano 9 February 2009 at 6:06 pm #

My favorite message from Driscoll is Good Soldier. Since I'm from Brazil, my resources are pretty much blogs, websites an youtube. This message had a huge impact on me because of his strong convictions about beeing a christian man. Controvertial, but great stuff.

  7. Jason Deuman 9 February 2009 at 6:07 pm #

My favorite Driscoll sermon/series was old school, when he talked about Revelation and emphasized the importance of worship throughout the book of Revelation. It impacted me because it helped me to see that there is more to the book of revelation than just a bunch of scary monsters and a harlot on the run.

  8. Mark Lee 9 February 2009 at 6:08 pm #

The Religion Saves series was really helpful as pastor Mark addressed questions that people had regarding Christianity.

  9. seth d. 9 February 2009 at 6:11 pm #

    "Pray Like Jesus"
    This is inspirational.

  10. Mario Hood 9 February 2009 at 6:17 pm #

Putting Pastors in their place… awesome msg. I heard it at a time where people were telling me that "preaching" the word was old, and I needed to be reminded of the calling on my life.

  11. ryanguard 9 February 2009 at 6:18 pm #

my favorite Driscoll message has to be the one where he went off on The Shack. I picked that one because it's the only one I've ever listened to. I usually just read what other people say about him.

  12. Nolan 9 February 2009 at 6:28 pm #

Favorite message was the whole Ruth series. Definitely resparked the fire to dive into the word after seeing him explain things I didn't see until I actually say down and really studied the Word!!

  13. Ryan Axtell 9 February 2009 at 6:28 pm #

Ryan Guard you are disqualified! :) I would say my favorite Series was Nehemiah: A city within a city…A lot about how Christians and the church should influence culture.

  14. theneener 9 February 2009 at 6:30 pm #

The whole Peasant Princess series was definitely a memorable one for me because it definitely put sex into a Godly perspective. Also, the Q&A sessions were a great way to see Pastor Mark's brain picked in real-time!

  15. jOsh 9 February 2009 at 6:32 pm #

The series he did on the person of Jesus. He was pretty much bashing Bell. Good stuff-

  16. lon 9 February 2009 at 6:33 pm #

'qualifications of a church planter' and 'strategy of a missionary' from the a29 bootcamps… he tells it like it is and shares his hardest times in classic driscoll fashion… always helps me when i'm in the grind…

  17. Brent 9 February 2009 at 6:33 pm #

I love the one on anger when he tells the audience to take Christianity Today's website offline.

  18. Brent 9 February 2009 at 6:33 pm #

I love the one on anger when he tells the audience to take Christianity Today's website offline.

  19. Rhys Searles 9 February 2009 at 6:34 pm #

Definitely Peasant Princess. My fiancee and I decided as it was coming up and since our wedding was coming up we'd watch it together to hear Marks opinions on this subject. It hit home in areas like how we want our household model to be, sex life, etc. I must say…it was very challenging. There are other messages that rock too but that one was great, specifically having the memory and time to share it and work thru it with my fiance via podcast.

  20. Jon C. Nelson 9 February 2009 at 6:35 pm #

I think that the "Ask Anything" series was inspirational and eye opening for the church in general.

  21. Jon 9 February 2009 at 6:36 pm #

I'm with Jason. Driscoll's series in Revelation was awesome. Whenever I think of it now, I remember that everything in heaven surrounds the throne, comes through the throne and comes from the throne. The whole book is a book of worship.

  22. Michael Mears 9 February 2009 at 6:37 pm #

too many really. "putting preachers in their place" was huge and still is fofr times when I doubt my calling (1 thes 5:24). peasant princess has been huge for me and my wife and the many great talks that have come from it. nehemiah 1 the important reminder that it begins with a broken heart and prayer and fasting. great stuff

  23. Billy Johnson 9 February 2009 at 6:39 pm #

Definitely was psyched about his "good sex, bad sex" message in his 1 Corinthians series. He does such a great job addressing very real and relevant issues like sex…anyway, I would definitely like a book!

  24. Jacob 9 February 2009 at 6:45 pm #

I think my favorite was his talk that he gave at the National Desiring God Conference a couple years ago on the Supremacy of Jesus and the Church in a postmodern culture. Any time you get Driscoll talking about these two subjects you are in for a great message.

  25. Paul Carreon 9 February 2009 at 6:45 pm #

I have only listed to the Series "Ruth" so that would have to be my favorite. What I learned was that I have to dig deeper in the scriptures than what I have been, because he brought thing out that I had never seen.

  26. Anthony cadena 9 February 2009 at 10:46 am #

I loved his series on revelation, we listened to it in my theology class in school and it really opened up my eyes and it was the series that first had me interested in mark. So this book would be a sweet addition, thanks los !

  27. Marvin_Nelson 9 February 2009 at 6:49 pm #

Mark Driscoll's messages have in HUGE way impacted my life and the way I teach. His books have had a profound impact on how I run and do ministry. However, the sermon that hit me the most was his sermon on the 7 woes (from Matthew 23) which he preached at a Church Planters conference. He talked deeply about how we need to be authentic, real people. NOT religious "wing nuts" who are clean on the outside, yet dirty cups and tombs on the inside.

  28. Philip 9 February 2009 at 6:51 pm #

The first sermon in the series in 1 Peter on TRIAL. Either that or Peasant Princess…

  29. BenofBenandJacq 9 February 2009 at 6:54 pm #

His message on the doctrine of Election during the ask anything series was amazing. Such a great treatment of a difficult doctrine.

  30. Kyle Reed 9 February 2009 at 6:57 pm #

I think that my favorite message of Drischolls was his series on questions submitted by attenders. Pretty interesting stuff that I have not heard straight forward answers to from a minister. Good stuff.

  31. Jim 9 February 2009 at 7:01 pm #

I've never ever ever listened to Mark Driscoll. Maybe I should. Maybe someday I will.

  32. Zack 9 February 2009 at 7:01 pm #

    Great question!

This past Tuesday, as her anniversary present to me, my wife took me to see Driscoll preach at a nearby seminary, and waited in line with me to meet him in person afterwards.

The message he gave was the best I've heard him give, and my wife and I are still talking about it.

The title was "9 distinctions between religion and the Gospel".

I didn't learn anything particularly new, but he articulated the message of the Gospel and simplicity of all so well…

It was one of the best gifts I've ever received!

I have a link to download the message on my blog:

    http://www.therieslands.com

  33. Terry Foester 9 February 2009 at 7:06 pm #

I liked his Q&A ask anything times, and his Relegion Saves & 9 Other Misconceptions series.

  34. Pastor_T 9 February 2009 at 7:07 pm #

I'm with Jim. I learned there was such a person right here. I need to get to work.

  35. bobby 9 February 2009 at 7:08 pm #

Gave a great message to a bunch of church planters a few years back on reverse engineering your life. Helped me a lot in thinking about how to set some goals in multiple aspects of my life, as well as the importance of it. Good stuff.

  36. Liz 9 February 2009 at 7:08 pm #

I've only ever heard the Ruth series, but I found it interesting, and getting me to think in different ways.

  37. Josh Schneider 9 February 2009 at 7:11 pm #

I am doing the vintage Jesus right now and reading the book and it is quality

  38. Ashlee 9 February 2009 at 7:15 pm #

I loved the message on Nehemiah. I listened to it while serving as a collegiate summer missionary in Minneapolis. I felt that it spoke to me and caused me to see how church influences the culture today.

  39. Jeremy 9 February 2009 at 7:16 pm #

    Hopefully I win!

  40. jacobpaulbreeze 9 February 2009 at 7:18 pm #

How Sharp the Edge? Christ, Controversy, and Cutting Words. It has spoken courage to me because I get spanked for the words I use in the pulpit also.

  41. Nick 9 February 2009 at 7:18 pm #

I enjoyed Mark's entire "Ask Anything" series (all of the messages that I've heard). He tackled, real life questions, and dealt with them straight from scripture and in a practical way. I've seen other churches do an "Ask" series, but apparently were too timid to go after some of the more extreme questions. Working with students, these messages help provide another resource to offer them when they bring these questions up. Great stuff!

  42. Daniel Gilland 9 February 2009 at 7:30 pm #

This is a tough one. I really enjoyed the Ruth Series. Put a lot into perspective. I also enjoyed his Doctrine series. Great and practical. Good stuff. And then there was his talk on the Emergent/Emerging Church at the Convergent Conference. Extremely informative. Overall I think I'll have to go with his Ruth series. Such practical, revelational, good stuff. Really put a lot into perspective.

  43. karlo 9 February 2009 at 7:31 pm #

i really appreciated his Doctrine series, especially the messages on Church, Worship, and Stewardship. he goes all out – love it.

  44. connormcc 9 February 2009 at 7:58 pm #

I loved the Ruth series, because it was on at the same time as a series on Ruth in my home congregation, which meant I was getting some different perspectives which was great

  45. Amanda Pate 9 February 2009 at 7:59 pm #

His series on Spiritual Warfare was by far the most meaningful to me. Really eye opening, especially during the period right after I read it. It was a bit scary, but it definitely has prepared me to realize how our fight really is against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 6:12).

  46. Raul 9 February 2009 at 8:07 pm #

My world was totally challenged by the Pray Like Jesus series. Prayer is an area of my walk with Jesus that i struggle in and this series really put prayer in the right perspective for me.

  47. jill 9 February 2009 at 8:09 pm #

Does reading The Resurgence count? If so, I loved the post on Silence – it gave me a real reality check. If that doesn't count, then un-enter (de-enter, revoke my entrance… something) me! :)

  48. Craig 9 February 2009 at 8:14 pm #

I would have to say The Peasant Princess, The Little Foxes. This entire series was very challenging. I am a missionary in Estonia and we were in the middle of a series on sex and relationships. I was able to take some of his content and use it. It was a pretty big surprise for our people and it was fun to also have someone stand next to me and translate some of the more graphic passages. The real blessing of it all was having a lot of your younger people finally see sex as something only for marriage and that was how God intended it to be.

  49. Jeremy 9 February 2009 at 8:16 pm #

His message on the Gethsemane Prayer was amazing. Over an hour and fifteen minutes long but so intense and challenging.

  50. chad hunsberger 9 February 2009 at 8:17 pm #

not really good at picking a favorite, but would love to be picked

  51. JCHook 9 February 2009 at 8:24 pm #

I have been on the ragamuffin journey for a couple of years now. Hungering for Truth in my Christian life. It started with Ragamuffin Gospel, then Blue Like Jazz now Mark Driscoll. I just "met" him but I have about 10 of his sermons on my Blackberry. There are 2 I have been listening to back to back on my way to and from work. THE SPIRIT AND THE FLESH, If I would have heard this when I got saved 20 years ago I would have made some different choices in my life. The other is JESUS DIED AS OUR EXAMPLE, I didn't really believe the Hebrews passage that Jesus was like us, I was guilty of assumming he was Superman when it came to the human experience. This sermon really opened my eyes.

  52. JCHook 9 February 2009 at 8:25 pm #

Mark Driscol and John Piper have been the first people I have been hearing after forsaking my duel life of sex addiction. RELIGION SAVES -Sexual Sin has been a huge help as well as his stuff on SPIRITUAL WARFARE. God has blessed me with some wonderful people to help me realize my true identity in Christ. Mark Driscol is one of some very important people that God is using to start me in my journey in the Spirit as a spotless child of God that is learning how to put to death the deeds of the flesh. NOT USING THE FLESH TO SANCTIFY MYSELF

  53. racheld 9 February 2009 at 8:26 pm #

Gotta love me some Ruth…Always a blessing!

  54. zach_harrod 9 February 2009 at 8:45 pm #

Favorite Driscoll talk? Can I just say his whole series on Nehemiah? It was unreal! Driscoll fleshing out what it means for the Church to be an alternative City within the larger City, that passionately pursues God and is for the good of the larger city! So good. I long for the Church to live this way and be alternative cities within cities. That is what I'm praying for Prague! This great city!

  55. Kyle Campos 9 February 2009 at 8:56 pm #

Mark's sermon on Grace as part of the Religion Saves series was absolutely incredible. Grace was what he chose for the question, "What do you struggle with most?" His doctrine and preaching around grace really transformed my view and challenged my understanding. I think I've listened to it at least 5 times.

  56. Hutch 9 February 2009 at 9:38 pm #

My Favorite sermon by driscoll is The Mars hill story in conjunction with the church at corinth. i don't remember the title Word for word, but i absolutely love that sermon. wanting to plant a church myself is probably what has me so infatuated with that.."Take your standing ten count, adjust your cup, get back up and start fighting again. " "there is no crying in church planting."

  57. Clay Conry 9 February 2009 at 9:38 pm #

I was introduced to Mark Driscoll via Greg Stier of Dar2Share Ministries. I am a follower of His blog and He linked on his blog to a message done by Mark Driscoll on the Emerging Church at a conference held at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. It helped me get a handle on where all the camps were coming from.

Also I think there should be only one winner and @JCHook should win the other copy I'm just saying!

  58. *wombat* Jordan 9 February 2009 at 10:08 pm #

Putting Pastors in their place. simply for the opening lines of what he wants to accomplish in an hour and 15 minutes.

  59. iamjessica 9 February 2009 at 10:13 pm #

Peasant Princess was AMAZING!!! Transformed my marriage and opened lines of communication and gave us safe structure for dialog. I recommend it to everyone – married or single.

  60. Lantz Howard 9 February 2009 at 10:28 pm #

Putting Preachers in Their Place is a sermon that needs to be listened to by everyone.

  61. knotter 9 February 2009 at 10:39 pm #

I enjoyed the Nehemiah series he did a while back.

  62. cdenning 9 February 2009 at 10:46 pm #

My favorite would be his Gospel v. Religion talk. I think he does a great job of making sure we are look at the world through the lens of the Gospel, rather than allowing our propensity for legalism to rule. Very good.

    cd

  63. steph 9 February 2009 at 10:55 pm #

    Pick me!

  64. Andy Cravens 9 February 2009 at 11:27 pm #

Well the ask anything series is what got me into Driscoll, but I actually believe that the "Rebel's Guide to joy" series meant the most. Philippians is such a great book, and we look to it through a lens of joy and happiness, but we forget (often) that this joy is in suffering. He taught well on the joy that we can have even (and especially) through suffering.

  65. davemiers 9 February 2009 at 11:46 pm #

probably the vintage Jesus series from 06…. it was the first series i heard
and maybe the talk on "what did Jesus accomplish on the cross"
    http://www.marshillchurch.org/media/vintagejesus/...

    peaceout amigos

  66. Josh Turner 9 February 2009 at 11:46 pm #

My favorite message that I have heard from Mark is a message that he spoke at a John Piper conventions where he talks about as Pastors we are called to shepherd the sheep and shoot the wolves….HE IS THE MAN

  67. Pokinatcha 9 February 2009 at 11:52 pm #

To be honest, I don't think I've ever heard of him until you mentioned you had 10 copies of his book to give away.

  68. Joseph_Louthan 10 February 2009 at 12:03 am #

The 2008 Desiring God National Conference is so tops (I still quote "shoot the wolves").

But as a series, 1 Corinthians: Christians Gone Wild has impacted me and helped me with my series on Romans.

(Also, if I win, don't give it to me. I got the book at this year's DG Pastor's Conference.)

  69. John Carroll 10 February 2009 at 12:25 am #

I enjoyed "Why Multi-site?" a ton, but it is not a sermon as much as teaching. He did do a sermon from 1 Cor 9 called "Paying Your Pastors" It is a must hear for the laymen. (HaHa)

  70. Blaine Albright 10 February 2009 at 12:50 am #

I became hooked on Driscoll during his series on corinthians. I particularly loved the message about church planting in corinth.

  71. AnnieBlogs 10 February 2009 at 1:09 am #

I totally love the series he just did on Song of Solomon. As a single woman, it taught me SO MUCH about what to look for in a husband and what to expect in marriage. LUH-HUVED it.

  72. Leftcornerofmybrain 10 February 2009 at 1:25 am #

If I win, I vow to make the most of my luck and purchase a lotto ticket immediately. Thank you. :)

  73. mufan96 10 February 2009 at 1:25 am #

the peasant princess series was incredible.
the media for it was beautiful.

  74. Alisha Jenkins 10 February 2009 at 1:34 am #

Pray Like Jesus series really impacted my prayer life. I love how he used his children as an example of we are to talk to God. They want to talk to their dad, want to spend time with him, know that he has their good in mind, and don't hesitate to ask him for things. It was awesome!

  75. djjenkins 10 February 2009 at 1:38 am #

Favorite series had to be the Prayer series he did just recently. Such a clear picture of God's heart as Father, and how we are to come to him freely and frequently. And the talk on Jesus' Gethsemane prayer was literally life-changing for me and I have been praying "Not my will, but Yours be done" ever since.

  76. Jonathan 10 February 2009 at 1:40 am #

Gosh, I can only pick one?
The Nehemiah series. I had read Radical Reformission and Confessions…, but had never really listened to Driscoll's sermons. But once I heard part one of Nehemiah, I was hooked. And that entire series really spoke to me too; really showed me what it means to have a heart for your city and be a missional community.

  77. Curtis Honeycutt 10 February 2009 at 2:22 am #

Hit me with a free book, Los!

  78. Aprwade 10 February 2009 at 2:52 am #

I really have not heard any of his messages. I have heard a lot about this book. I have not been able to find it any where near where I live so I hope I have an opportunity to win this.

  79. CaroleTurner 10 February 2009 at 4:01 am #

I don't like Mark Driscoll most of the time so I need to read the book.

  80. gocyclones 10 February 2009 at 3:32 am #

Congrats on 50k! Love this blog, but to be honest I've never heard a Mark Driscoll message before!
