What’s Your Favorite Local Resturant
Tonight I went to Flip Burger Boutique in midtown.
Above is a picture of my burger.
Best burger I’ve had in the ATL. (and yes, I’ve been to vortex)
My new favorite lunch spot.

if you haven't had the burger at Vortex or Ann's Snack Bar, you need to try those before going with the frou-frou at Flip… One of my fav restaurants is Fox Bros BBQ (also w/ a "burger" that is really chopped brisket, bacon, pimento cheese – can you tell i like burgers?).
San Francisco wouldn't be the same without Rosamunde Sausage Grill. It is a hole in the wall with a couple of barstools and a small counter, its on Haight Street between Fillmore and Steiner. They have 16 or so different sausages, crazy flavors like Chicken with Cherry, Duck with Figs, Wild Boar, Smoked Lamb with Pototoes and Sundried Tomatoes, but then traditional stuff like Bratwurst, Weisswurst, Beer Sausage, Knockwurst, Andouille. $5 a sausage, could take 5 minutes or upwards of 30 minutes so order more than one, cash only, burgers served on Tuesdays. They are right next to a pub called Toronado that stocks the largest selection of Belgian Beer in SF and you can take your grub there. Seriously, this is one of those places not to be missed.
Village Bakery, Amarillo, Tx. They make artisan breads and wonderful desserts (incl creme brulee). They make sandwiches of all kinds, hot & cold. They have a hot lunch special daily. They only seating for about 20 inside & 6 outside, so it is crowded. Have I mentioned the desserts & the homemade breads?
DH LOVES Ann's snack bar (ATL)

Doner King–Kaiserslautern Germany. It's good, but is my favorite mostly cuz it's THE ONLY PLACE TO GO!
Kalapaki Beach Hut– Kaua'i, Hawai'i
Terrible, terrible post to read as a pregnant woman, after midnight. Darn you!
Nanaga Farm Stall, PE, South Africa – They serve the best roosterkoek ever. It is this local pastry thing, cooked over a fire. Yum!
Haven't been there in a long time, but I'm assuming that South City Kitchen is still kick arse (is that how you spell it when you don't want to say ass?)
Anyway, South City KItchen has contemporary Southern food… it's on Crescent Ave. in Midtown Atlanta, and they have a Vinings location now too.
Their site…. and a little bit from the google search:
http://www.southcitykitchen.com/
South City Kitchen offers a fresh and comfortable approach to new south cuisine in a vibrant cosmopolitan setting.
In my own words:
It's Southern Food with a twist.
Fabulous!!

Zenobia Lebanese
It's in the same street as we live, along with Korean, Indian, Japanese, Italian, some coffee shops and a steakhouse. Yum.
There really isn't a restaurant in the town we live in other than pizza places. So in neighboring town of Chillicothe there is a place called Carl's Townhouse and they have great burgers along with corn nuggets. Also we live close to Portsmouth which has the famous Hickey's Hamburgers, they are awesome.
Smiley's in Iva, SC, the best patty melt. It will suck your face off…
I LOVE the crab cakes at South City Kitchen.
My new favorite burger spot here in ATL is Canyons (http://www.canyonsburgers.com) Deeelicious burgers! But I'll have to try this Flip place…
Jennifer, if Canyon is your favorite burger in Atlanta, I'm afraid you might not have tried enough…
It's tasty no doubt, but only a step above fast food (no offense to the In-n-Out folks). Check out http://www.guidespot.com/guides/atlantas_best_ham... for some other suggestions. I can personally vouch for the Vortex, Highland Tap, and of course the legendary Ghetto Burger at Ann's Snack bar. Try them all!
Thanks for the suggestions Warren!
I'm still a newbie to ATL and don't do enough exploring as I should but looking forward to check out some new spots!
the Market Street Pub in Denton, MD…great atmosphere, great food!
Columbia, SC. Cafe Strudel.
Dude, that place looks so cool! I love restaurants that take a unique twist on something simple. Sweet store and site design and the burgers look every bit as tasty.
There's a little local burger place here in Carmel that is well known among the locals. It is right on a main bike/hike trail so you can ride your bikes there, get a great burger, sit a while and then ride back.
Milwaukee, WI
The Night Owl. Burger joint that's been around since the '50s. Only open March-Dec and not open late. But AWESOME hand made burgers and ice cream.

CHAO PHRA YA | Herndon, VA
http://www.yelp.com/biz/chao-phra-ya-herndon
Thai food… very good… always consistent… good/reasonable prices.
The main reason we dig this joint is because of the EXCELLENT customer service! We've gotten to know the manager and a particular server there… they always treat us well and often (not always) they give us the hook up with little extras!
Chronic Taco in Newport or Roscoes chicken and waffles….SO GOOD
In Atlanta, its the Varsity. Hands down.
I would love to go there. Saw it on the food channel and it looks yummy. I would say Fat Mo's and 5 guys , and Texas Roadhouse have the best in Nashville. At the same time I have not been everywhere.
In lincoln NE, Lazlo's
Paradise Grille in Marietta is the best. They have the best chicken chili and fried pickles around.
http://www.restaurantdb.net/restaurants/view-497536.html
I am sure Nashvegas has something like this and I just don’t know about it. That being said I really like Fat Moes and 5 guys. Two very tasty joints. I am not saying though there is not something better and I hope I find it. Oh wait Texas Roadhouse has some tasty burgers.
Mark's Place in puhi. Best plate lunch on the island. I ate there twice a week when I live on Kauai
I enjoy a burger as much as the next guy but Flip is too new and trendy for me to suffer the wait. If I’m going to wait for my food, I’m going to go with something tried and true. On that side of town, it would be Nuevo Laredo.
Pipe's in Cardiff
http://www.pipescafe.com/
Tijuana Flats for sure! They've drifted all over Florida and into a few other states, but I'll always think of it as an Orlando thing. (There are at least 4 within a short drive of my office!) Love 'em.
What about Varsity…I know many native ATLiens….that claim it's the only place!!!
Topps Cafe in Cupertino for cheap Chinese eats. They have clay pot rice dishes and baked beef tongue and oxtail stew…plus bubble tea!
Chicagoland Area… Portillos… hands down!
Touche in Portland…http://touchepdx.com/
there are so many places to eat in pdx that it makes my head spin
Marietta, GA – Paradise Grille (we're not very high-class in our house). We love everything on the menu and how close it is to home.
I have not been to vortex (and I've lived in Atlanta for four years now!) – how sad is that!
I'll have to add Flip to the list as well.
I 3rd that. I am disappointed that we Californians took so long to represent.
Rathbun’s in ATL for dinner. Thumbs Up Diner for Bfast. You can’t beat either one
I've only had the pleasure of eating at Sushi on Bloor. From what I remember, the fish was exceptionally fresh and happy there.
It's actually quite close to that, New Gen. is in between Bathurst and Spadina on Bloor, right across from the cinema and the futon store
West Palm Beach
Wings Plus
The dirtiest, biggest wings you've ever seen tossed in sauce you wouldn't believe!
I'm coming to ATL for Easter Weekend. Never hung out there…what should I do and where should I go?! I'm going to Passion City Church's Good Friday Svc. and then want to visit Buckhead on Sunday. =)
Ps. What's that scrapple looking sandwich at Flip Burger all about?
Kabuto Japanese Steakhouse in Charlotte, North Carolina on Pineville-Matthews Road (there are three locations in Charlotte). They serve great sushi and I've never had a problem with the service there. If you're not too full after dinner, you can go next door to Starbucks for a dessert frappucino, too.
http://www.kabutos.com/kabutos/index.html
If I'm feeling like having something cheaper but still awesomely fresh-tasting, I go to Just Fresh, which is also in Charlotte (I go to the Rivergate Pkwy location). It's a cafe-type place with a really comfortable atmosphere. Their Bahama Mama wrap is to die for.

Florence, Alabama best pizza subs I've ever had are at Pizza Chef…The best part i that the guy that owns it looks like Mario
Mmmm… Dave's Taverna in Harrisonburg, Va, sitting on the taratza eating a gyro with a side of onion rings. My 7-year-old's favorite place. When I ask him what he wants at Dave's, he responds with "the usual." Is that good or bad?
Pueblo Real in Franklin, Tn. Unassuming place…amazing al pastor tacos and tamales and chorizo con papas and caldo de camerones!!! Of course they have Americanized Mexican food for the gringos, but look at the a la carte menu or just ask for anything you can think of that isn't on the menu, they'll make you anything.
It's a mile from my house and we eat there several times per week.
Yum!
Also, Thai Spice, Miss Saigon and Saffire in Franklin.
12 Bones in Asheville, NC. Even my non-meat-eating wife loves it.

There's an hole-in-the-wall restaurant in Snellville, GA called Lavender Bistro…it's delicious. So are the crab cakes at Dominick's in "downtown" Lawrenceville….and the pulled pork & ribs at Hometown BBQ on 29. And that's my favorite Gwinnett County goodness.
