Favorite Worship Album…At Least 5 Years Old
Hip, fresh, new, sexy, snazzy.
We all like the new.
But something happens inside me when I pop in my Crowder Lime CD.
I accelerate back to when things were simpler.
When I was in a good place.
I love that CD.
It speaks to me and moves me.
Oh. And don’t get me started on this one.
Light the freaking Fire Again.
C’MON SOMEBODY PREACH!!!
So. You. 2004 or earlier.
Think back.
What album did you WEAR OUT when you needed to connect with God?
Los

Josh Byrd: Beautiful
Passion: One Day Live. Changed my worship music life.
Christafari's "Dub Sound, and Power."
The Lime CD and some old Kirk Franklin would probably be in my 2nd and 3rd slot.
We Speak to Nations from Lakewood Church – something about it just gets my heart and mind refocused.
http://bit.ly/zCT3g
Passion: Our love is loud. Never forget them visiting my campus (fsu) and leading us in worship. i wore that cd out, then bought another one.
Exactly what I would say. Crowder and friends came to NC State and basically played the album and I was on another planet that night!
I would def. say The Lime CD…I wore that thing out…love it.
Cincinnati Vineyard "Dwell"
Can't describe why it grabbed me. Pointed me upward from the first listen.
Just one? OK, I'll be good…
Planetshakers – "Reflector"
Don Moen – Rivers of Joy
Okay OLD school… Petra Praise.
I had it on cassette.
booyah!
ALL TOGETHER SEPARATE
Crowder Band: A Collision
I describe this to everyone I know as Christian music's "Pet Sounds" or "Sgt. Pepper's"
The epitome of artistic, soul stirring worship.
Just read the AT LEAST 5 years old bit.
Tim Hughes "When Silence Falls"
Lots of classic stuff on there.
Hillsong's "Hope"— the track "Still" was and is a staple as far as worship music goes for me…
I was just starting to listen to worship music in 2004, so I'm going to have to go with the first one I listened to: Hillsong United's "More Than Life"… it's still one of my favorites.
"Much Afraid" by Jars of Clay
yeah!
Third Day- "Offerings"
Passion: Everything Glorious or North Point Live: Louder than Creation
Doh! I was going to say 'Strong Tower' by Kutless, but that was 2005. So I will go with Chris Tomlin and 'Arriving.'
Sonicflood The original self titled CD or the follow-up live CD Sonicpraise. That band (at that time) was a big part of my transition in to leading worship in the church. timeless
Passion 98 – Live Worship From The 268 Generation
The '97 Passion album. Changed everything in worship for me.
Mine is Passion: The Road to One Day. I don't listen to a bunch of worship CDs, but this is the one I keep coming back to. The arrangements are really fresh and unique. "Salvation", "The Noise we Make", "Make a Joyful Noise", "Holy Roar". I think one of the best produced CDs I own.
A close 2nd is the Vineyard "Hungry" CD…Introduced me to the title song, which I love, and the breakdown at the end of "Rhythm of Heaven" makes the saxophone player in me smile each time : )
Hands down – Hillsong United's More than life – this is the one that hooked me on united.
But two other good ones are:
Passion's Our Love is Loud
(http://www.amazon.com/Our-Love-Loud-Passion/dp/B0...
&
Third Day's Offering
(http://www.amazon.com/Offerings-Worship-Album-Thi...
I loved Sonicflood’s first album when I was in high school. I think I cried the first time I heard “Heart of Worship.”
Winds of Worship 12: Live from London (Vineyard) – Gets me everytime.
especially the song "Who is This?" beautiful voice- don't know who's it is but i love it!
Shane & Shane’s original Psalms CD
LOVE david crowder. he can do no wrong, especially lyrically. STILL wish i could have a CD of our sandals worship team live. that'd be my all time favorite worship cd ever!
Passion ‘Better is One Day’. 1998, i think.
Band, vocals, writing, energy took my breath away. First live worship music I had heard that encapsulated what I wished for in a worship experience for the groups I was working with at the time. Still makes me smile all over to listen to it.
It would have to be this Celtic Praise and worship CD
http://www.christianbook.com/Christian/Books/prod...
Waterdeep- You are so Good to Me
and Deliriou5?- Cutting Edge
Metro Band- Robbie Seay and Christy Nockles recorded a CD in (98' I think) when they lead worship at Houston's FBC's Monday night bible study for young adults. I remember I was in Jr High when I heard the CD for the first time. I listened to it 24/7. Still some of my fave stuff.
psalms- shane and shane. taught me how to hide His word in my heart. the only way i knew how. music.
Hosanna! Music: America's 25 Best Praise & Worship Songs 1997
Say what you will but as new 13yr. believer who was unchurched old this, is all I new for my personal worship time. This helped shape my personal worship experience!
Going really old school – I can't seem to get the Bob Fitts led, "The Lord Reigns" album by Hosanna-Integrity off my playlist for more than a year before I have to give it a listen through. I hate most stuff from the period now – but this one is a secret vice for me.
THIRD DAY – OFFERINGS 1 & 2, but if had to pick just 1 ….its hard…2. Concert with these guys is like a great time at Church.
Anything that “Indellible Grace” put out before 2004. check them out.
‘Revival at Brownsville’. Around 1996. Lindell Cooley was my inspiration to become a worship leader.
I blew these up for YEARS:
Enter the Worship Circle by 100 Portraits & Waterdeep (1999)
Live & In the Can by Delirious? (1996)
All Together Separate Live (2000)
Exodus
Vineyard UK – Hungry!
I get hyped up just thinking about it.
I'm with you on this, Travis. Best live worship album ever, in my opinion.
Hillsong – I Give You My Heart. Song of dedication and commitment.
Matt Redman – Facedown. Crowder – Illuminate. Hillsong United.
Speechless by Steven Curtis Chapman. Spoke so much to me for so many years and I still listen to it today sometimes just because I love it so much.
ditto. loved lime.
Hillsong United "To The Ends of the Earth" or Hillsong's "Blessed"
Agreed, 110%. Definitely Hillsong's best year.
Crowder-Can You Hear Us
Watermark, "Take Me There" – freaking amazing CD. Or Shane and Shane, "Psalms". There is seriously nothing better. =)
Rich Mullins – Winds of Heaven, Stuff of Earth – Still ROCKS me.
FACEDOWN – MATT REDMAN
also ALL I CAN SAY – DAVID CROWDER BAND
illuminate-dcb (2003)
Hungry – Vineyard. Changed everyone's idea of what could be done with worship music. Some of those tunes still resonate now.
Delirious-king of fools,
Easy…
Everybody Duck – Seized By The Power
Goes back to 2000. Still my favorite worship band/album ever.
easily Shane & Shane – "Psalms" ….without a doubt.
Mine's a Dave Crowder Band album too…LOVE THEM! …All I Can Say from 1999…amazing!
Oh man, that could be a long list! A few that really had a deep impact and were extremely fitting for the time were:
- Any Given Day – worship compilation
- Divine Invitation – Something Like Silas
- Rocks Won't Cry – Shane Barnard
- Come Close to Me – Jason Morant (Adam's Lament)
- Facedown – Matt Redman
Jason Upton – Faith.
That album STILL does it for me.
I forgot to put that one on my list. But absolutely awesome.
Oh man. LOVED and LOVE Watermark's All Things New and Phillips, Craig, and Deans Where Strength Begins. "This is what it means to be free…" Yes, oh yes.
the lime CD was & is my most played Crowder album.
but my most played worship album of that time was definitely "synergie" a live worship CD of a church in Texas with Lane Oliver leading. has this great song called "You're All I Need" that got me through the roughest time in my life. good stuff.
I refuse to play by the Rules… I have Five…
1. Christ For the Nations :: Glorious
// This Album had most of the Kari Jobe Classics. It had some greats from Rick Pino, and Klaus. It is one of the Best worship Albums of All time IMO.
2. Planetshakers :: My King
// This CD has a tone of great songs, from Super High Energy Praise to downright knee bending worship. It was pretty much the sound track to my High School Youth Group.
3. Jason Upton :: Faith
// This CD was the one that brought Jason Upton out into a more mainstream market and had some classic songs on it. Many of which I still listen to regularly.
4. Petra :: Petra Praise
// This CD was the Epitome of Modern Worship for years, and many of the songs on it have been covered time and time again. I still rank Take me in as one of the best worship songs written in the 'modern' era.
[For the Record, I have owned this album on Vinyl, Cassette, Cd, and now on my PC]
5. Delirious? :: Access:D
// This CD had all of Delirious' hits packed into a live setting, many of them had been re-arranged and proved that no matter how you sing them Delirious Songs are still Epic.
Out of the 5, I think I would go with Glorious as my personal favourite, but I am not decisive enough to make a final answer
I know this comes as a surprise any Third Day over 5 years. I can't pick just 1.
phil wickham – "give you my world"
jason morant – "abandon"
something like silas – "divine invitation"
Pages of Life: Chapters 1 & 2 by Fred Hammond
Live from Another Level by Israel Houghton and New Breed
2 ABSOLUTELY incredible projects that I can STILL listen to all the way through on any given day! Great praise and intense worship on both, but between the 2 I'd have to take Fred Hammond, but it's really close!
yay, Fred Hammond's Pages of Life was amazing!!!
Ginny Owens, Without Condition would come second for me… at this minute
722 Their first live album. I dusted it off and got it back out just last week. It brought back a LOT of memories from being there running to get a seat as close to the front as possible to hear an awesome worship band and an incredible speaker in Louie Giglio. Its really awesome to see where God has taken his ministry.
Hillsong "Touching Heaven Changing Earth" (1998).
http://www.amazon.com/Touching-Heaven-Changing-Hi...
"Church on Fire" and "Holy Spirit Rain Down" were my favorite tunes.
Speechless, Steven Curtis Chapman. And I still love it.
Can You Hear Us by DC 2nd
Intimacy – Matt Redman…still so so good.
Currently wearing out Israel Houghton, awesome album in every respect.
Reflector by Planetshakers. So many wonderful memories surrounding those songs.

Revive '99 featuring Paul Oakley. This live album from a youth conference in England has some great tunes from the Brits. There's a Place, Heart of Worship, Deep Calls to Deep, plus a spontaneous song that was amazing. I listened to it more times than I care to say.
I have to go back to the days of the Enter the Worship Circle- The First Circle. That CD totally takes me back! Does anyone remember the song – "I will not forget you"??? If you don't go here to check it out – http://tinyurl.com/d8lh2w
Steven Curtis Chapman, Signs of Life, Speechless, Declaration of Dependence…fantastic songwriting…wrapped around pop melodies, great hooks with profound theologically rich lyrics!
Vineyard UK's "Hungry"
For me it'd have to be Tye Tribbett's "Life" album. Still love it to this day. Also, pre-2004 it was Nitro Praise Live. Even though it was techno, the lyrics to many of the worship songs would often bring me to tears. Lol!
It's a tie between The Road to One Day and One Day Live. Both of those were the beez-neez back in college, and I still think they are better than most of what has recently come out.
I had to add this… On the One Day Live cd, at the end of Salvation where Charlie Hall yells "JEEESSSUUUUSSSS!!"… That still makes me want to throw a fist up and cheer.
The Heart of Worship by Matt Redman was very impactful
http://www.amazon.com/Heart-Worship-Matt-Redman/d...
Israel & New Breed, Live From Another Level…. the Yellow CD.
Illuminate by Crowder was a staple for me. I would just repeat 'Oh Praise Him' over and over and over and over….
Circa 1995 Jars of Clay self titled album
Circa 2000 One Day Live (which I attended in Memphis!)
Skillet – Ardent Worship
Everyone loves the Passion stuff and I wanna throw some props out to EverybodyDuck and Something Like Silas…but I remember hearing Delirious 2 Disc Cutting Edge way back when and I was like "WOW". Their other CD's like Glo and World Service in the early 2000's were incredible – before there time and set the trend. Hillsong United stuff now is Delirious 5 years ago with a little more current sound.
MercyMe- Undone
Delirious?-Deeper: The D:Finitive Worship Experience by Delirious
Passion '98 – Something about that album FORCED me into God's presence EVERY time I listened
Hillsong – By Your Side. I remember vividly – driving down I-20 from Ft. Worth to Grand Prairie, TX to lead worship on an early Sunday morning and worshiping my head off.
without question:
enter the worship circle–(the first one)
passion97
those two still bring me in like no others..
I might be going back 10 years on some of these
Darrell Evans – Freedom
Vineyard – Hungry
Enter the Worship Circle – 1st Circle
Passion – The Road to One Day. 'Salvation' and 'I Will Not Be Silent' rocked my world and taught me to worship aggressively!
Passion One Day Live, it changed worship for me forever!
i didn't listen to a lot of Christian music until 2006
"Enter the Worship Circle" Water Deep and 100 Portraits
Sonic Flood's self titled
"Deeper and "Cutting Edge" Delirious
mmm…as I date myself … I 2 Eye by Michael W. Smith. Someone gave me the tape in high school, and I can still hear it now and be transported to a time when I was first developing vision and passion that still drive me.
I'm with Tim, above: Sonicflood. Just to give you an idea, I remember riding my dad's 1950s model Farmall Cub Tractor, mowing our 6 acres, listening to that cd and crying. Ah, the life of an angsty 17-year-old country girl with big dreams.
Does Mark Schultz count? I have fond memories of his self-titled album (2000).
Chris Rice-Past the Edges & Fernando Ortega-Breaking of the Dawn….Still get me. Makes me want to get in my car and drive…
Michael W. Smith – Live the Life – I have a cassette of this one in my car cassette player, poised to play whenever nothing is good on the radio, or I just need to hear it. The whole album lasts about as long as my commute, and some days it's just what I need.
LifeHouse
Live and In the Can by Delirious.
Illuminate/also dc*b
Pages of Life: Chapters 1 & 2 by Fred Hammond —- ABSOLUTELY. Made me realize that there was more to worship than I IV V. Still one of my favorites.
oh! Good call! One of the craziest (in a good way) worship experiences I've ever had was at a Lifehouse concert when they were playing "Everything". It was awesome to see God at work in a field that consisted mainly of drunk/stoned people who were there to see the other acts.
How about Ten Shekel Shirt's release Much? Music has changed much in he last 8 years, but there's something simple and worshipful about Ocean. I remember going through a time in my life when the first 5 songs off that album would be a total encouragement.
These are random
Israel Houghton and NB- A New Season
Fred Hammond- Spirit of David
United- More Than Life
Live and UnReserved – Revival Generation (00)
and something slightly more recent that has never lost it's place in my playlists:
Elevator Music – Victory Fellowship Church (2003[?], led by Paul Meany of Mute Math)
Old School Shane & Shane – I love those guys
Jami Smith WASH OVER ME! Hosanna music
Hillsong – Savior King (2007)
Singable from start to finish.

At the Foot of the Cross: Part 1: Clouds, Rain, Fire.
http://www.amazon.com/Vol-1-Clouds-Rain-Fire/dp/B...
A number of Christian alternative artists from the late 80's/early 90's produced this beautiful concept album.
Twila Paris – "House of Worship" reminded me that women really can lead worship in a beautiful, meaninful way.
rich mullins, legacy, liturgy & ragamuffin band, i love that cd
This will date me, kinda….I picked up on these albums long after their release.
In my early 20s I was introduced to CCM by people in my college campus ministry.
The first album I wore out was Petra's Not of this World – which I heard for the first time around the time Petra released Beyond Belief. There was something about the Not of the World album that made me think of Jesus and connected me to the Lord, like a worship album more than just a Christian rock album.
That was soon replaced by Maranatha Music's Long Play Praise. It was my go-to album when I needed a soundtrack to focus in on God. It is gentle and quiet and most definitely old-old-school worship but the Holy Spirit is there.
Jerusalem Arise: This one always takes me back to one of the best times of my life
http://wilburministries.com/
7:22 Live.
Winds of Worship #5 from Holland.
I love that song Eternity.
1995 in the house.
Apparently Im going to have to check out a Crowder CD. Havent heard a worship cd by them…
Sonic Praise – SonicFLOOD.
Wow…. I used to listen to this album on my way to high school in the mornings, and would be either pumped up through the roof or totally in tears by the time I pulled into the parking lot! We covered all of these songs in youth ministry at Westside Church in Simpsonville, SC. It was really a big record for me, God used it to open up a new part of me that LOVED to sing songs to Him.
Delirious?: Cutting Edge (from 1997)
Passion: OneDay Live from 2000 I still get shivers from Candi Pearson singing "One Pure and Holy Passion" I wore that cd out.
Much Afraid: Jars of Clay (from 1997) Lyrics from their song "Frail" written on an old dusty journal. "Exposed beyond the shadows,You take the cup from me, Your dirt removes my blindness, Your pain becomes my peace"
I look back very fondly on those albums and that period in Modern Worship history…thanks for bringing me back there today.
Clint Brown – 2 Shades of Brown>>>>>>OLD FAITHFUL!
Con Que Pagaremos-Fernando Ortega… What?!?! I know, I know… But also I played out hillsongs united-look to you. i mean wore that thing ouuuut.
Passion One Day Live; or Delirious? Live and in the Can
if i'm going back that far…i'd have to say Sonicflood and their self-titled debut…
really old school….7:22/268 Generation produced a CD called "Thirsty: A Journey to Intimacy with God" back in the late 90s…listened to it all the time in college, and still listen to it all the time when I'm needing some encouragement. In fact, I listened to it this morning!
The first "Enter The Worship Circle" by Waterdeep + 100 Portraits. Came out around 2000, when I was in high school. I had a minor argument with my youth pastor (who was a veryvery conservative Christian) over whether it was okay to use the songs. He thought they were too hard to sing. I won the argument.
Definitely Third Day – Offerings.
Shane & Shane’s “Rocks Won’t Cry”
and
Choice Resource’s “Thirsty” from Passion ‘99
I would have to say Chris Tomlin-Arriving.
Enter the Worship Circle…by 100 Portraits and Waterdeep
LOL @loswhit. At first I saw your "Lime CD" Entry and I thought to myself…what??? that didn't come out 5 years ago… Then I realized it's 2009… and I'm going to be 29 this year. Feels like I've listened to this CD such a long time ago, yet it's still new. =P
My pick for best CD 5+ years old (and still my favorite Worship CD of all time) is Passion's "Better is One Day" CD. Came out while I was in college and loved it.
Keith Green's Greatest Hits! His stuff is so amazing. I do love DCB very much, but I wanted to take it WAY back.
Back in my Younglife/K-Life days, I loved a CD by Billy Sprague, I Wish. Tried to find it a few weeks ago but couldn't track a copy down.
Supertones
Matt Redman: Facedown
Third Day: Offerings: A Worship Album
Vineyard UK – Hungry
Delirious – Cutting Edge
Passion – Road To One Day
Delirious? – Glo (My Glorious, Jesus Blood, God's Romance, Hang on to You, this album was mindblowing and still is!)
I remember going to their concert @ Wheaton College and an unknown man at that time in flannel shirt from Texas was opening up for them. This man was Chris Tomlin.
Passion Better is One Day! I love that one!
Misty Edwards – Eternity
Jason Upton – Faith
Rita Springer – Created To Worship
Rita Springer – Effortless ("Worth It All" healed me in so many ways)
Vineyard – Hungry
Jessie Rogers-Goodman I don't know the name of the cd but it's a live version
I would have to say Chris Tomlin – Arriving
Big Blue Sky- Bebo Norman
"The Making of a Godly Man" by Promise Keepers – PK's stadium worship showed me that it was ok to ROCK!
"For This Cause" by Hillsong was a life-changer for me…
"We Speak to Nations" – Lakewood/Israel
Charlie Hall – On The Road To Beautiful
David Crowder Band: Illuminate
First real introduction to DCB and haven't stopped loving them since.
I would say A Collision, but it was released in 2005.
I like to go back to Tomlin's "Not to Us". My favorite overall album Tomlin has done and one I constantly pop in when I want to just chill and relax with God.
40 acres : Caedmons Call (the best album by any Christian artist/band ever)
or
Great Big Universe : Satellite Soul
Marcos Witt Vencio
Ulff Christiansson: The Lifestyle From Above. I've actually never heard a worship album that I thought topped it. Also, Rock The Flock (which was like an Old School Hillsong, Christian City Church best of album that came out in the early 90s). Those two will be hard to match for passion, intensity, lyrical content, etc. And English isn't even Ulff's first language.
I made fun of em for years before I became a Christian… and then "Offerings" by Third Day became an addiction for me.
Jeff Deyo’s “Saturate” is phenomenal … the true followup to the original Sonicflood album
I also love:
Andy Chrisman’s “One” – stellar vocals and amazing singable hooks
Delirious’ “World Service” – their best … hands down!
Caedmon’s Call’s “In The Company of Angels – A Call To Worship” – organic and beautifully crafted
4Him’s “Hymns: A Place of Worship” was on the frontside of the hymns craze.
Dude we're a shade off of "Look to You" by United. That's a album I've played the snot out of since it came out. But since I have to pick, I'll stay in the United stream, probably "To the Ends of the Earth."
First worship album I ever had:
Enter the Worship Circle by Waterdeep & 100 Portraits
"I Will Not Forget You" was my jam. You gotta get a little wild sometimes…
Recently it's been Kari Jobe…love it.
United. Best Friend. I will never stop listening to it. I always come back to it. It was the first United CD that I owned, 10 years ago. (second Hillsong anything album, God is in the House was my first Hillsong Church album) I will always love it. <3
DCB "Can You Hear Us?" Though Lime is def. on the rotation…ALOT…wondering if anyone has come close to replicating that sound. I love techno so the blend with great worship music…BTW favorite song on Lime "Deliver Me"
darrell evans "let the river flow" or delirious "cutting edge"
I know this is not considered a worship album, but Jars of Clay's, "Jars of Clay" is my favorite album to date. Not only does it take me back, but it takes me There. 'Worlds Apart' fights with 'Wonderful King' by David Crowder Band as my favorite song ever.
Tim Hughes' "When Silence Falls". It's one of those CDs that doesn't have a ton of songs that would work in a congregational setting, but spoke to me like crazy during times when I was broken, hurting, and fearful.
Jars of Clay- self title album.
I’m going to have to say
All Together Seperate’s-Ardent Worship Live (the video was even better)
Ron Kenoly-Lift Him Up (i know, but it gives me a smile every time i hear it. we went to see him in San Antonio)
100Portraits/Waterdeep-Enter the Worship Circle
Christ for the Nations Overtaken
love "Lords Generation", "Running", and so much more that just leads me into his presence
Let The River Flow by Darrell Evans. Oh yeah.
dude.. darrell evans. freedom/you are i am.
Burlap to Cashmere…
Tommy Walker – Live with the CA worship band.
delirious live and in the can broke my CD player… still amazing.
Speakin of worship, I found a pastor on an Internet radio station that is really good. He preaches every Sunday from 3-3:30 on SWAGG city radio. His name is Mike Cirdell (I think I spelled that right) and he is very enthusiastic about the word of God. I like the idea that I can rejoice and surf the Internet at the same time.he also accepts calls during his sermon for prayer. I believe they also have gospel music on Sunday nights too. Visit http://www.swaggcityradio.com. Anyway, just thought I would share a new find.
David Crowder*Band: Illuminte
Phil Wickham: Self-Titled
Robbie Seay: Better Days
Among many others.
