What Makes A Man?

It is a campaign for Australia’s Solo soft drinks. Solo Beverage company aims to turn pasty, hairless boys into real men with their Solo Man Bibs. The Solo Man Bib hooks easily around the neck and gives men instant rub-worthy pecs, complete with chest hair and even a Solo gold necklace…
So in your eyes…
What makes a real man?

I just posted on this same topic….

I'd say a real man respects others in every circumstance possible.
Ha ha, that rocks. I could definitely use one of those. I'm a little…umm…lacking in the chest hair department. At last count I had 17.
Ordering my Solo Man Bib now…
Luckyyy! I've got 4… and I guard them with my life – from my wife – and her tweezers.
did you really order one? Let me know.
Without a doubt…a man who knows Whose he is and strives to walk with the Creator everyday. period.
honor God
honor your wife
honor your family
be ready to die for your family
be ready to die for what's right
keep your word
have compassion and express generosity in all circumstances
serve with a gracious heart
don't be afraid to cry
i learned all that from my dad and i hope to pass it on to my son.
brilliant.
i concur. thank you, adam.
do the hard thing
make the hard yard
make the hard decisions
and take responsibility for them
that and drink beer, braai (barbeque) and throw a ball like a quarterback (where and how far does not matter )
amen.
That is hilarious. Thank you for sharing that.

strong AND gentle.
Two words…the man of all men…Moto Moto!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNdNVXHoXtw
brilliant
A real man (definition from Mens Fraternity:http://www.mensfraternity.com/)
1) Rejects Passivity
2) Accepts Responsibility
3) Leads Couragesouly
4) Expects a Reward, God's Reward
That pretty much sums it up for me.
Like it
A Real Man is:
Faithful – Proverbs 20:6 "Many a men will proclaim his own goodness, but a Faithful Man who can find?"
Kind/Gracious – Proverbs 19:22 "What is desired in a man is kindness"
Yep…givemeoneofthem!
too bad I
'm taken/
Chest hair…gross.
Moto Moto!
hahahahahaha
INTEGRITY.
I like that one
amen
Wow! I wonder if they come in different skin colors? I'd like to get my man one for his birthday! The first thing that comes to mind is faithfulness. To God, to his wife and family, and to his calling.
Yup.
Gentleness.
To me, that's a big one.
Yup
One of my favorite quotations. "There is nothing so strong as gentleness, nothing so gentle as real strength."
Gentleness and Humility arise from a deep seated strength. One that has no need to prove itself. One that is rooted in Christ.
humility. so rare. and selfless courage.
Tough one for me. I love it
bring it.
mhmmm
what makes a man a man is his heart
humility… kindness.. gentleness.. but he still needs to be able to get down and dirty and work hard to provide for his fam.
Humble about his strengths, honest about his weaknesses.
All this in a heart that's after God's own heart.
Some men think the ability to satisfy (sexually or otherwise) many women over the course of their life is a measure of a man. I think it is the ability to satisfy (sexually AND otherwise) ONE woman over the course of their life.
Ha. I like this one!
A real man is more comfortable with himself the way he is rather than wear a bib to look like something he's not
Humility. To know your place… before God, and your queen.
Australia – providing all the mantools the world needs…
First of all, I need about 50 of those bibs for the men I do life with! lol
Vulnerability – being true to yourself (warts and all) and Passion – standing up for what you believe in, holding on even when others have let go…normally 2 words more associated with the female of the species but very attractive in men.
A bald head!
A bald head and a hairy chest? No. A bald head!
anatomy?
love. compassion. empathy. and many more
OH…..mygosh….hilarious visual.
A real man is both warrior and wooer…someone who knows how to fight the good fight, who can fight for and defend and uphold his woman's heart. A real man connects with the intimate part of Jesus and is able to stand strong in a culture that has a tendency to emasculate him yet remain humble, gentle and kind. Anatomy is merely a part of the pot the Potter has created and it's the contents that truly define the character of a person.
A man takes risks – is OK being scared and does it anyway.
A man makes a plan – and then follows it.
A man is willing to do "hard" things – he believes he will be better off in the long run.
A man listens to carefully-picked council – he is willing to try their suggestions – and he takes what he likes and leaves the rest.
A man takes care of his own needs first – then he can be of better service to God and others.
A man sometimes succeeds – and he gives credit to God's help.
A man sometimes fails – and he learns and he pushes on.
You should get one of those for your little dude.
no comment on what makes a man…but wanted to share a song that you might like,
'what makes a man' by City and Colour – the album is called the myspace transmissions
Paste on manhood for the utterly confused. Funny how often humor points so unerringly to deep seated issues.
I believe manhood is mostly closely tied to the activity of attaining "to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ". He is our perfect model in all things. Work ethic, Social Justice, Humility, Grace, Strength, Love, Service, Leadership, Wisdom, and on and on and on… A man is one who abides, who dwells constantly in the presence and power of God. That touches and transforms everything. This man is already approved and walks in strength and confidence from the One who matters most to Him. Listen to the Spirit, Linger in the Word, Learn what pleases the Lord and He'll fill in the blanks that are the details. Amazing the flexibility and freedom that comes from this kind of living.
In light of that, a question to ask ourselves: Where are you placing your trust – in your strength(s) or His?
