Ragamuffin Soul // Coaching For Creatives
For 9 years at Sandals Church, in the grunt, in the hustle, going it with mostly volunteers, I would literally pray I could get an hour with someone who has done what I was trying to do b4.
I would beg, borrow, and I’m sure steal to get those moments.
I’d drive 40 minutes to Saddleback to meet with Rick Muchow and Justin Adams.
I would take a pad of paper and a pen and go at them.
Poor guys.
I went to the conferences and most of the time, would leave with great information that would make me more dangerous than useful.
I needed more. I wanted more. And I got more.
And here I sit. For almost 2 years I have sat in what I would consider the Creative Leadership Academy of America.
Or Buckhead Church. 
I don’t think I’m Mr. God’s Gift To Creative Heads. But I do feel like God had blessed me with knowledge and aptitude when it comes to leading creative teams and individuals.
So. That being said. I’m going to be intentional. I am starting a coaching network for creatives.
Quite simple. All video chat. Me, you, 4 others.
These teams, myself included, will meet once a month for an hour, via TokBox so we can all see each others beautiful faces and get our assignment and such.
Then I will meet one on one with you via video chat for an hour later that month for one on one coaching and all out Q and A.
It all starts in July. It is not for everyone. So there is an application and a commitment.
But after one tweet a few days ago, there are already 40 applications in.
I don’t know how many groups I will form yet. It looks like there might be a round 2.
But I realize there is a need for creatives to network and grow.

I commend you for doing this. I think it is a great idea, and wish more pastors/ministry leaders who have impact and influence would do the same thing. We can all use some coaching from experienced folks.
If you know anyone doing it for Youth Pastors, I would be 1000% interested in that!

$1000 an hour? TIme away from your family? Aren't you on Buckhead's dime from 2-3 pm? Your ego continues to amaze me.
1. You don't know my work schedule.
2. You might just log onto a chat unprepared, but I'm creating curriculum.
3. Quit hiding behind being anonymous.
4. I'll be in LA in a few weeks and would love to chat face to face about it.
5. You have not even seen the beginning of the corruption of my ego. This was actually bathed in prayer. When my ego shows up, it gets even uglier.
If Los just shows up to a video conference and says, "Hey guys, what do you want to talk about this week?" then it will be a waste of money. And if he does that, tell him it's a waste of money after the first session and ask him for your money back. Until then, I think you owe the man an apology for your assumptions and accusations. Just my two cents.
For the record, I think this is a great idea. There aren't enough leaders willing to invest in others outside their immediate realms of influence/community/work.

Is it just music / video / drama / sound & lighting types, or anyone who wants to develop as a creative leader regardless of their area of ministry?

This is so important because creatives can often be less than excited about getting together with outsiders. I like the idea of collaborating with others to stretch each other and the Church at the same time.

I think this is so awesome! =] I sent you a message before asking how I could get a job like yours. I do about 1 / 298,983 of what you do at my church. haa. Too bad I'm in school from 2-3 and my worship bugdet is $30 a month instead of $200.
