God forgave you, forgive yourself, but also, MOVE ON, people!
Time to open your eyes and see who and what Christ purchased with the Cross, and go give 'em the Message and walk in His power and authority.
Time is short; you have people who are depending on you to share the Good News of Christ, and they don't even know it. Get your minds off of what you see and hear, and start focusing on what you KNOW of God.
Stop caring what others do and look like; He loves them just as much as He loves you, no matter what they're doing.
"No entitlements" You aren't entitled to a life of comfort, hassle-free, without wants or needs. You are called to be like Christ who loved to the point of death. Not saying we must die – saying we must be willing to be uncomfortable sometimes for His purposes in our lives and those around us.
If i was preaching a sermon designed for me as the listening audience…
I would probably preach from Luke 10:38-42 and title it, "Sit Down and Shut Up" since I seem to be running around like the proverbial sprinting headless chicken and I am full of feelings of failure about my inability to please everyone and "get everything done" instead of being AT REST AND PEACE like I know He wants me to be…
If I were the preacher and the congregation of my church, I would have invited you this weekend to lead us in worship and to talk about the impact of social media in the kingdom of God… how about that? :0)
Hi Faith… I titled it that way for the "provocativeness" of the title – the content of the message would be more of an invitation to cease from striving and enter the rest of the finished work of Christ. Obviously, God is merciful and kind with my propensity to freak out. And yes sometimes He tells me to "shut up" because I am different than you and therefore possibly He might communicate with me a little differently. And I know He loves me so I know he only corrects me out of that intense loves He has for me.
Hope that sheds some light on it for ya as to why I titled my sermon that way… and the message was titled for JUST ME… I wouldn't call it that for a congregation of 2 or more
I guess I don't see a self-sermon being the same thing as a message from God. That would be a different exercise. I've heard many sermons that I didn't consider to be messages from God to me. If I gave one, it'd probably be doubly so.
Perhaps you're right where he wants you to be so you don't need a kick at the moment..but you are also a girl (as am I incidentally) and possibly tend to respond more to the nurturing presenation of God's nature. I believe we need to get more challenging and risky in our way of doing church and representing God if we are going to right the gender imblance in church and bring men back…they can't stand the flowery soft version of God that so often gets preached. We are in a war…we need to be mobilised…that means harsh words sometimes. Jesus called his own best friend Satan….how's that for harsh LOL
Chris – I understand…it's something I've been thinking about a lot lately, as I've been convicted about the way I talk to myself. I wouldn't quickly say "you're such an idiot" to another person – so why do I talk to myself that way? (in case you can't tell, i've spent some time in counseling. ) I'm afraid I thought for a long time that God was telling me to shut up, thinking I was stupid…and I've learned that He can be firm and gentle at the same time. Thanks for your reply!
so true… and I too have had to quit allowing the "accuser" (satan) to have help in his onslaught of verbal attacks on my identity – and I was his best helper for a long time! But i now have embraced verses like Psalm 139:14, Eph 1:4-8, 2 Corinthians 5:21, and others and I can handle the firmness of His love without worrying whether He loves me or if He's mad at me… He's not mad at me! But He's madly in love with me!
And the same is true about you…
God bless you and thanks for the great discussion
It's probably be something like "Get off your butt and DO something about it." I always have these great ideas of changes I want to make in myself or even the world … what-have-you. But that's where it ends. Nice ideas.
Then again – I don't know how many sermons have the word "Butt" in them. And that may be why I don't preach outside of the high school girls group I co-lead? ha ha
No matter how crappy the day may be. I have no control over the future. I only have the gift of the moment. And God is here even when I can't feel or hear Him.
get off your lazy butts and do what God's telling you to do!

I'm interested in the fact that people have titled their sermons with harsh words and name-calling.
God doesn't talk to me like that.

I agree 100%. We so often focus on treating others like we want to be treated that we forget to extend that same courtesy to ourselves.
