7 Keys To Becoming An Effective Leader Of Worship
It seems like posts like these are all the buzz right now.
8 Keys to this.
7 Principles to this.
5 Lessons from this.
21 Ways to Fail Proof that.
And 9 times out of 10, there is usually a good nugget or two in those.
So I thought I would try my hand at one.
These keys have helped me tremendously in my leading worship and I read them everyday.
I give you the 7 Keys To Becoming An Effective Leader Of Worship…
1. Stop thinking there are actual keys to this and just read your freaking Bible and meditate on it so that it pours out of You on Sundays instead of You pouring out of you.

Oh that reminds me of a post I read on 10 ways to Stop thinking there are actual keys to this and just read your freaking Bible and meditate on it so that it pours out of You on Sundays instead of You pouring out of you. =)
huh?
Sure enough!
And I would say in addition… do 1-7 in true community so you can live and give off stage before you give onstage as a worship leader when no one or few see it.
dude that was classic. I saw the headline and thought, "oh man…" fantastic post.
money.
Well said Los!!!!
awesome!!
I feel like there should have been a cuss word in there or something like that.
this would make a great book though. Sure it would sell and then after they opened the front cover and realized it wasn't all laid out in simple steps it would sell on ebay.
Crushed it!

Maybe someone should have conference on how to do this? (-;
Your buddy @prodigaljohn will be so proud – you using the holy number 7 and all…
And I agree w/ Netta, these "keys" apply to us all – worship leader or not!
Great job!
I think you missed one, there are 8 (don't you know?)…
i finally got it by number 7
I think I needed to read that 7 times…
Well said Los. Don't know what else I could possibly add.
real quick. top 10 lists and 5 things to this, those kinds of posts are traditionally very popular – that's what information marketing books say, and in our short attention span, twitter society, I believe these are the kinds of titles that grab attention – maybe people are thinking just what you said: "there's probably 1 or 2 good nuggets in there" – but I think it's fair to say that this is not a trend, or recent trend, but that it's actually a principle or rule of thumb for creating a good short article/post/content that will attract readers. (but what do I know? I never write this kind of thing!)
Amen to number 5, man. Word.
This is great! Now, can you please post a list of 7 keys to Reading Your Freaking Bible and Meditating?
dude you don't know how much love you get from me by posting this.
truth truth truth truth truth and more truth
bless you man
Solid list – practicing all 7 would take you most of the way.
maybe there is One More – ask God to have his way each gathering.
I hate the title "Worship Leader." There. I said it!
whew!!! i almost boycotted your blog when I saw the title!
Pardon my ignorance, but is that really all that encompassing and fair? What of the person thrust into the position of leading worship out of necessity and is looking for wise counsel of how to effectively lead worship because it's a leadership position they've never before held? Don't get me wrong, my personal relationship to Him is utmost in my life. I absolutely agree that we need to be steeped in His word to the point that no one can come in contact with us and not experience His love. Yes, we should very practically exude His love to everyone around us. But don't we study and train for anything else we pursue in life? Just because this particular leadership position is within the church, do we not have a need for any trained skill-set? Isn't saying that the key to being an effective worship leader is only reading the word like saying to someone who is trying to start a church that if he just reads the word he'll be fine and doesn't need to study and learn from the experiences of others? What of the wise counsel of other pastors who have more experience (isn't that what it says in Proverbs about seeking wise counsel)? Perhaps I'm completely off-base here and perhaps I like to be the one to start dialogue by questioning what someone else has said. Either way that's my two cents….
I needed this, man. I’ve been feeling this in my spirit so much lately. I’m taking a Sunday off this week and that is my plan for this Sunday!
I'm smiling because when I saw this blog title come across twitter I actually did a little mental eye-rolling and didn't follow it because "sheesh-another-list-thats-going-to-try-to-make-this-all-easier-and-quantifiable-argh-argh-argh… ministry is both more complicated and more simple than these lists imply…. argh argh argh".
Today I read your post and was SO relieved to find that you went exactly the same place that I went during my mental eye rolling.
So thanks for that. And sorry for the eye-rolling. I should know better.
perhaps the most revelatory and deep 7-point list I've ever read… spot on, homeslice!
Finally, someone is making some freakin sense?
Excellent use of alliteration.
sweet, now i am convicted again today!!
that is all….
wow,
wow,
that was just great, Thanks so much.
Just read my book .. it’s only one page!
Thank you for writing this.
Oh sigh… it's too long to go into.
So – thank you for writing this!
